For a ruleboook of only 26 pages, this is a surprising complicated game. Also, although the writing is generally clear, the system, game layout, and presentation are not cohesive. My advice: wait for this game to survive beyond the initial trial of consumer playtesting, hope the designers incorporate improvements into a version 2.0.

Well, Orkworld is done. For better or for worse. Written, edited, re-written, re-edited, re-re-written and re-re-edited. Three separate sets of eyes went on this thing (not counting my own): Jennifer Brandes, Chris Hepler and The Wife. We spent all weekend and some of a week getting it done.

My official title is “Director of R&D,” meaning I’m the one overseeing the development of the games and making sure no one slacks off. Unofficially, I also serve as the Webmaster, do some marketing, provide support for our games, and generally do entirely too much work. ![]()

This week marks production week for Underworld, so things are going to be a little hairy. The Blue Planet RPG is obviously a labor of love, a stunning backdrop of fact-founded, logically constructed, futuristic cyberpunk shaken up with the fictional American West and a dash of noir mystery, marred only by a twist of shallow, tacked-on game mechanics.
