My friend reviews for an online publication and there are advance screenings across the country for reviewers so he gets passes. You prob gotta ask for info through examiner.

Footnote: I will also have to find out whether the local Regal or other cinemas will honor such a press pass, even with the promise that they'll be mentioned in the reviews. Just because you're a film critic doesn't mean the local movie theatre has to let you in free--they might think that I should have gone to the advance screenings in Hollywood or somewhere.

You are the first person to mention Hot Tub Time Machine, I think, although the title does ring a bell in the back of my mind. I will certainly keep an eye out for it.

Generally I do not review movies during their theatrical release, because my need to make copious notes and check my facts and details exceeds my ability to do so on a single viewing, so I work from recordings. However, I have made exceptions (Walt Disney's A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey), particularly when the movie is popular and the problems are relatively simple.

I'll have to ask someone about getting a press pass. Thanks for the suggestion.
