That Higher Level of Consciousness

I was rousted from bed this morning to deal with a problem. This of course completely disrupted my day. I involuntarily fell asleep in the afternoon, when the main part of the problem had been addressed and I was waiting to use the phone. I was awakened by a hungry child needing dinner, and have been playing catch-up since.
I think I am awake. I hope, at least, that this is not a dream, because in that case I’m losing a lot more time and still have a lot of work to finish.

The first time I woke my mom up needing dinner, she taught me how to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This was, of course, so I would never do that again. Perhaps you could learn a thing or two from that.

The child who woke me is autistic and learning-disabled. I would rather he not use the stove, and I know that I cannot easily communicate that to him, particularly as he thinks he is as old and as responsible as people a few years older than his biological age.
Had it been one of my own children, he would not have awakened me; as it is, I would rather deal with feeding him than deal with the problems that might be created in having him feed himself.
He does know how to make sandwiches and serve himself cereal, but there are limits to what can be expected of him.
