			<title>M. J. Young on "Article System Tech Notes"</title>

			<description>&#60;p&#62;I noticed on the front page that there was a comment on an old article, so I went to see it, &#60;a href=&#34;http://gamingoutpost.com/article/game_ideas_unlimited_survival/#comment-61&#34;&#62;here&#60;/a&#62;. It looks like the work of a bot. The name &#34;Nick&#34; was hyperlinked to some sort of automotive site. I edited out both the link and the e-mail address, but left the comment (it was rather inoccuous, and editing was readily obvious while I didn't see the ability to delete until after I'd done the editing). Probably next time I would just delete the comment, but I thought I'd alert you to the possibility that there's a bot program out there that has figured out how to comment here.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I'll keep on it.&#60;/p&#62;

			<description>&#60;p&#62;When you guys write articles and blog posts, can you be sure to fill out some tags in the spot right below where you type the article's text? This is just like the tagging in the old system (and the tags you use here in the forums). While I don't have display of the tags in the site templates yet, I will soon, and then they'll be the way people can browse articles and blogs by subject.

			<description>&#60;p&#62;I've looked around a bit, and I haven't seen anything that looks like an Edit button for my posts. I &#60;strong&#62;really&#60;/strong&#62; like being able to edit my posts; is there a way to do this that I'm overlooking, or perhaps a method to be added in the future?

			<description>&#60;p&#62;Of course nothing goes smoothly in the world of IT.  The new boards and system seem ok, but we are having trouble getting the archived discussions online.  I'm in contact with the people who wrote that software, so hopefully they can get the issues resolved.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Apologies to the people running their online games, I do have a backup plan, so if we can't get stuff fixed by the end of the weekend, I'll try something else.

			<title>admin on "Regarding the New Setup"</title>
			<link>http://gamingoutpost.com/discussions/topic/regarding-the-new-setup#post-2</link>

			<description>&#60;p&#62;That was unfortunate.  Server wonkiness on a less than adequate host broke things in a way that would've been prohibitively difficult to repair.  Jacob and I had been planning for a while to move GO over to a WordPress/bbPress based setup to address many of the shortcomings we'd found with the site, but we hadn't planned to do it so early.  The new setup's in place, however, and all the articles and user accounts have been imported.  The old discussion forums &#60;a href=&#34;http://discussions.gamingoutpost.com&#34;&#62;are archived&#60;/a&#62; to keep the messages available, but all new talk should take place here.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Now, some notes on how it all works.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;User Accounts&#60;/strong&#62;  These have been imported, though you might have to use the password reminder function to get yourself a new password before you can log in.  Also, login names don't support spaces anymore, so we had to modify them to reflect that.  If you're having trouble logging in and your old login had spaces, try typing it without them.  If you still can't get in, &#60;a href=&#34;mailto:webmaster@gamingoutpost.com&#34;&#62;email us&#60;/a&#62; and we'll get it sorted out.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Articles&#60;/strong&#62; are there.  When you log in, you can write new ones.  If you want to earn AdSense income off of them, make sure you give us your AdSense ID in your user profile.  As an added bonus, we're now paying out &#60;strong&#62;100% of the AdSense impressions to authors.&#60;/strong&#62;  That means, if you take advantage of it, you'll earn all the AdSense revenue the site makes from your articles.  We won't take a penny of it.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Blogs&#60;/strong&#62; have been integrated into the system.  When you go to write an article, there's a category for blog posts.  Pick that and write away.  One of the changes I'll make in the near future, as part of the roll out of actual author pages, will be to setup a blog area where those posts are singled out.  For now, they'll mingle with regular articles and reviews.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;Discussions&#60;/strong&#62;  As you may have noticed, there are far fewer forums.  We plan to keep it that way.  Instead of having boards for lots of topics, the new setup uses tags.  For instance, if you are doing actual play for a Multiverser game, start a new thread in the Actual Play board and give it the tag &#34;multiverser&#34;.  Clicking on that tag on the board home page on the left, then, will take you to all threads, no matter which board their in, that have to do with Multiverser.  It's a more elegant way to handle things and allows for an organic growth of topics.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;That's all I can think of right now. Ask questions here and I'll answer them.

			<description>&#60;p&#62;None of the old posts from Gaming Outpost are up yet. Is this something that's going to take some time to cut over? Also my account didn't transition so I made a new one, is that something that will also take some time?
