When you say the "other side", which way do you mean? That is--
- You started on the south side.
- Then you followed the beach around to the west end, or perhaps west side, where you met Michael.
- Then you continued around the north side along the beach, and climbed the north face of the mountain to the peak.
Thus the "other" side might mean that you're going to cross the crater (presumably by going around it) and continue toward the east end, or that you're going to continue over the mountain back toward the south side, or that you're going to cross diagonally such that you're headed for the south side more toward the east end, or that you're doubling back toward the north side but toward the east, or even that you're headed back toward Michael in the west.
Note, too, that you are traveling by night at this point.
