I smile sideways at the attractive, young Mariska, and point my chin at the navigation screen, which should have the course on it. I follow the directions on it to get to the castle for the time being, and explain, "I've decided that things aren't going to go as planned, Mariska. I'm going to hit Steranko now, and I'm going to hit him hard with everything I've got.
"They'll already know that Zigesfeld was after me, and the recent changes to the party arrangements will show me there. I'll be a sitting duck. Instead, the party is never going to happen and his plan is never going to come to fruition. They'll think that I won't strike until the party, so they won't see this comning. The organization I represent doesn't even know I'm doing this now."
I pull the car over on the side of the road. "If this plan doesn't suit you, then get out now."
Mariska readies her 9mm pistols.
"No, I'm in. I'd just like to know the plan."

"I'm going to raise hell outside, and you're going to proceed to try to find your way in through the chain-link fence. My main purpose is to attract security as well as I can to my location. You go inside and try to get the evidence. We'll have the jump on them. Once I'm finished with the security outside, I'll come in too to help."
When we get closer to the castle, I let her out so that she can find her point of entrance along the fence. Then, I proceed to activate my machine guns, and the megaphone, into which I say, "This is a warning,a nd the only one you'll get. All personel under the occupation of Augustus Steranko must drop their weapons and surrender immediately. I cannot ensure the safety of any who do not comply in the next ten seconds." I count to ten while activating the rocket launchers on my car. If all went correctly with driving, I should be facing the gate right now.
The post above is my post, but I had a question...
When I used Zig's beretta earlier, did I get a Use Handgun skill?
Concerning the question, I'll admit to some confusion. If you mean did you get the skill when you just shot Ziggy through the door, then the answer is yes, you did. If you mean that you fired Ziggy's gun previously and I forgot about it, then I need to be reminded because that means I forgot to enter your skill before and need to update it. (I do forget things like that; I forgot to enter it this time, but your question reminded me.)
The guard at the gate has his hands raised and his rifle set against the wall of the gatehouse. He approaches slowly to your window.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," he says with a thick Austrian accent, "but could you tell us who you are and under whose authority you're saying this?"
--M. J. Young
I only lower the window slightly so that I can hear him. "I am under the authority of the large guns on my car. Now, tell your men to drop their weapons and present themself out here, or I will open fire. You have thirty seconds to comply."
I also take out one of my berettas and hold it, ready.
He looks at your car, and nervously back at you.
"Terrorist, huh? Well, I'm not here to die in a terrorist attack. You'll get no resistance from me."
He backs away with hands raised; the gate is open.
--M. J. Young
That was an unexpected response. I realize once more that things don't happen like they do in the movies. Still, this world had a very spy-friendly environment, it seemed.
I say to the guard that is backing up, "Stop. I want you to get on your radio and tell them about me here. Tell them that there's someone here threatening the safety here. Also, if Steranko is in there, I want him out here NOW. If he surrenders to me, then nothing bad will happen to anyone."
"Wait a minute, I thought you were a terrorist. Look, about half of the security force here is EEC security assigned to defend Steranko, and the rest (including me) is private security services hired by his security chief Ilsa Grunt. If you're here to attack or take Steranko, well, it's our job to protect him on behalf of the European Economic Community. So I'm afraid I can't let help you."
The gate is closing. It is a tall chainlink gate on an automatic rolling track overhead.

I floor the gas in an attempt to get through the gate.
Sorry, at work tonight-not much of a post.
You hit the gas, but the gate is already too far closed before you can do so. Mariska suddenly yells, "Tire shredders, stop!" and you see that a set of spikes angled has popped up out of a grate in the road just the other side of the gate.
--M. J. Young
Wait...where is Mariska shouting this from?
I already dropped her off, so that she could get inside secretly while I caused a distraction.
I apologize; that was my error. Mariska is not there, as you observe, so she says nothing. Nor do you notice the tire shredders. Thus you gun the engine, crash through the gate, and as your front tires are grabbed by the spikes in the road, you flip over.
You are unharmed but a bit disoriented, as the car is surrounded by armed men shouting at you in several languages. The car's computer has shut down in the crash and is struggling to reboot. It is evident that the guards want you to surrender into their custody.

The first thing that I do is check for Harry's well-being in the back seat.
1. If he is still alive:
I smile to him, to reassure him. Then, I take the second beretta out, and point it at one window of the car, while searching for the other. If I can't find the other one, then I fire at the nearest pair of legs I see.
2. If he is dead or injured:
I can't take it. The situation overtakes me, as I see my hurt friend in the car. I draw my pistol immediately and aim for whatever I can see belonging to the guards approaching this car.
You see Harry; he's slammed into several surfaces, and looks like he's going to need serious attention.
You draw and fire your gun at a pair of legs approaching. The bullet ricochets off the inside of the bullet proof glass side window and embeds itself in the passenger seat.
--M. J. Young
This time, I roll down the window and then fire.
While rolling down the window, I attempt to turn the car back on (just turning the key again for it to reactivate).
The windows are electronic, tied into the computer. The one next to you begins to open, but when you start to start the car it stops, open only about an inch.
I'll note for your attention that you are upside down and belted into the seat.
The car starts; the computer still seems scrambled, though. It is arming and disarming various weapon and defense functions in rapid succession, the voice announcing each function as it does so.
--M. J. Young
I stop for a moment, and remember Harry once more.
I then decide on an action. I grit my teeth, close my eyes, put the gun to my head, and squeeze the trigger. If all goes according to what Michael said, things should be fine if I die and we verse.
You level the gun to your head, but you can't bring yourself to pull the trigger. You drop the gun in despair.
"Out of the car, now," one of the guards shouts.
--M. J. Young
I expected this, and I like how the system incorporates the will of humans to continue living. Will the difficulty of this drop over time, out of curiosity?
In that case, I get out of the car with my gun, intended to train it on the first one of them I see. I'm looking to cause as large a distraction as I can so that Mariska can have more time to reach Steranko's plans.
It will always require a difficult will power check. You have it within your power to increase your will power, though, and it is a useful attribute to improve--it is one quarter of your damage value and a relevant attribute for psi and bod skills. It is not as easy to improve as the physical attributes, but most players can devise means to improve it.
Your car is, of course, upside down. You undo your safety belt and collapse awkwardly on the roof. With some effort you force the door open, and begin to crawl out.
Two soldiers grab your arms and half help half pull you to your feet. One grabs the pistol.
"You won't be needing this for the moment."
"Pat him down," another voice says, and you are checked for weapons. My recollection is that you are not carrying anything else that looks like a weapon. I am not certain what objects you have on person--in pockets, selected clothing--but will let you tell me if you consider something relevant. He will check any ID you are carrying--wallet, passport, anything like that. He'll get your name from that, if you are carrying anything.
The man who seems to be commanding looks you up and down, and then says, "All right, take him to the dungeon, and I'll alert Ilsa."
At this point if he hasn't already gotten your name from your ID he'll demand that you tell him your name, but he'll only ask once and then he'll figure if you're not going to tell him it's up to someone else to find out.

The gum is the only extra thing that comes to mind. Other than that, I'm wearing the gecko boots and the tuxedo, I believe.
I'm going to do every bit of resisting I can during this. It includes biting, kicking, and punching.
You manage to break one arm loose and land a blow on the other guy; more for surprise than anything else he lets go. It was not at all as good a blow as you would have hoped, and perhaps because of the accident you are having trouble getting into the rhythm of your usual fighting style.
Still, you hit the other guy painfully enough, but they both grab you again, one tightly holding your left arm, the other around your waist from behind you.
You manage to avoid a choke hold from the guy behind you, and duck an incoming punch, but you don't connect with your own swing which is badly aimed. The guy behind you attempts to hit you, but he's put off balance by your dodge, and his swing goes wild.
You fall into the rhythm of your fighting style finally, but you can see that these guys are both trained--not as good as you, perhaps, but they have fought before. The one in front of you hits you pretty hard, and the one behind you manages to get his arm around your neck and start squeezing. You try to hit the guy behind you but get nothing but air, but then you elbow him. You still manage to dodge the next incoming punch from the guy in front of you, and to hurt the guy behind you with another blow. You try to hit him once more, but your consciousness is eking away and your attack fails, and then you black out.
You are awakening in a cold dimly lit place on an uncomfortable mattress. You are still in your clothes.

I rub my eyes with my right arm, and look around. Well, that was a learning experience-or rather, an example of what I need to learn. Next chance I get, I need to settle down and go to a dojo every day for a couple hundred years...
Still, that's not my major concern at the moment. I try to get out of bed, and cradle any injuries that happen to jolt with pain, whether they be from the car accident, the fight with the guards, or anything extra while I was asleep. I look around the room for doors, windows, cabinets. What are the walls made out of? Are there cameras?
You are no longer wearing the tuxedo jacket, but do have the pants. There is an unfamiliar dress suit lying over a crude wooden chair near you, in plastic and on a hanger, as if from a dry cleaners. There is a dress shirt and bow tie with it.
The room is stone, and looks like the interior of a dungeon in a medieval castle. Some light enters through a small upper window, which has bars affixed in the stone. There is a door across from you, heavy wood, probably oak, on iron hinges with iron reinforcements. There is an open barred window in the door, less than a foot across, and a very small slit of airspace beneath it. Through this window you can see another dimly lit stone room even before you get to your feet. You are on a steel army cot with mattress and one blanket.
You took a few injuries from the fight, but they are beginning to heal and you're not in danger from them.
--M. J. Young
I'm going to use the skill that I had practiced in my last world now.
Instead of investigating the room anymore, I use my (1@1 Meditate P1@0). I'm just focusing on clearing my mind and sharpening it for the time being, and give myself no set amount of time to do this for. I continue trying until stopped.
You gather yourself and within five minutes of meditation you feel the strength within you.
I am not certain whether your post means that you will do this until it succeeds or that you will keep doing it to multiply successes; if the latter, I don't think it can multiply--that is, if you succeed once, and you try again immediately, you use the power of the first success toward succeeding the second time, and the value of a success is static, so there's no benefit and potentially a detriment to attempting a second success.
--M. J. Young
I'm going to do it as a practice until someone comes in the room.
You hear voices outside the door, and then a face appears through the bars.
"Good, you're awake. Put that suit on. Mr. Steranko has invited you to dine with him tonight."
