I was thinking to the source; but that depends on how wide and deep it is to some extent. Since the water looks clean, I'll have to assume that people are not defecating in it up upstream at any rate, so we'll go downstream towards wherever it flows to. I can't rely on a compass yet; not until I know it's reliable here. Two suns definitely makes me think probably not. Do they seem to follow the same course through the sky over time?

Good. What's the general feel of the place? The clothing on the people, et cetera. When I found my equipment, I wasn't expecting to find everything in one place; it's possible that at some point in my previous world we went and picked up our things from the world before, though. Is that the case or do I still sense some items in another direction? Either way, I should have my less attention-drawing leather armor that I can supplement with pieces from the bat armor. I've got my knives on, so I'm looking to see how civilized the people are; do I see jeans? buttons? dyes? tailored clothing?

Good, my clothing is well enough to almost blend but a high enough quality to show that I'm not to be messed with. I'll be wearing the cape, too, if possible; I'd like to wear the leathers, the gloves and boots and cape from the batsuit. Approach the men and greet them warmly.

*They look at Cass up and down and converse with her back and forth, they don't make any moves or talk to you all the communication is done through Cass, and she is speaking back*

"Males do not carry weapons, wear armor or fight here, they make dinner, gather food, watch the kids. Women don't even talk to Males, unless they are both single and looking for a mate, or telling them what they want. They are questioning me about why you are wearing weapons and I am not. They don't see the MP5 as a weapon, and I am not wearing armor, so it looks weird."
Hmm. "Well, we're not from around here, so I hope that explains it. I wonder why I suddenly have this intense urge to sweep you into a passionate kiss?" ((Honestly, it's not a huge culture shock for me -- actually, it kind of reminds me of a race of people I created once))

"They said the village is an hour down the river, and they suggested you not appear like that there. The guards will be on you. Might want to put on regular clothes, and get me a set of armor and weapons asap. It's ok, I will protect you."
*she smirks*
Hmm. Well, if it's what she wants to do, I'll let her take the lead. "You want me to wear a skirt, too?" I ask sarcastically, but I change into regular clothing, and she does have the option of the catwoman suit, if that could even be considered armor, and several outfits (and more pairs of shoes than our collective weight limit could probably bring even if we left everything else behind). At any rate, we're off to the village.

*You both make the walk to the town, the gates of this small village are guarded by two women with jet black hair, ice blue eyes, muscular, slight frames. There is not a lot of meat on them aside from the muscles to use weapons or run.*
*The cross their halbards and speak in that unknown tongue, they nod and bow down in reverence and Cass pats them on their heads, as they run in screaming in town, and people come out and bow in reverence.*

*She gets them to settle down, and they bring out men to offer to her, she polietly points to you and says something, they nod, still ignoring your presence, but getting looks at the corner of their eyes at you when they aren't looking and smiling*

"I got us a room to stay at while we are here, it's a strange place, They warship the Greek Gawds and Gawdesses here, but there is very little magic or psionics, so no one would likely ever answer."

*She works on the town, for a week and you learn that the gawds here are in name only, no one can attribute a direct act or a sighting of them for years, it seems that this place was devoted to warship, you quickly find out that this is a 50 by 50 mile island, and there is no known land outside that anyone has ever reported. You notice the men's spirts are beaten down, they work, breed, clean, take care of the children. You do see women pregnant, so you are safe for now.*
I wonder out loud why there are warriors if the world is so small. I'm curious as to why the men are kept in the position they're in; generally, a population's growth is more dependent on the number of women, which is why most societies keep their women well protected. Hmm. Well, I suppose that their society works, so more power to them. During this week I will be sticking with Cass.

*Men are dressed in simple clothes, the women in better clothes, armed and sometimes armored. The men are browbeaten, and basically third class citizens. It's a hard place to figure out to be honest. Cass is treated well, like a goddess, and she plays the role well. Are you doing anything specific during the week?*

*The week goes by, she picks up supplies, a tent, sleeping bags, food and water and heads to the main city, it's a 3 day walk through rough terrain, no trouble finds you, and you see an ivory city in the distance, easily twice the size of Manhatten*

"That's Carid, The Ivory Seat of power here, and likely the place to find some answers."
