"Houston, we've got a problem," I say in a barely familiar voice.
"Well, for the moment this changes everything. I don't guess I have to sneak inside and threaten Hogg to get him to stop trying to crush the orphanage; but I'm going to need an entirely new plan I'm also going to have to figure out how to get you back in your body, and me back in mine. It might be temporary; it was temporary once before, but it lasted quite a while.
"You should probably not scream; my vocal cords won't get you the shrill volume you need anyway, and if anyone comes to see what the sound is, they'll shoot you, not me, because you're in the strange body.
"The easy solution would be for me to take this gun and go kill Hogg; from everything I hear, he's this world's biggest problem. Then if I killed you, one of two things would happen. Either my body would leave this world and I would go with it, knocking you back into your body and leaving you holding the bag for Hogg's murder, or we'd both find ourselves in a different world. Either way, I don't guess there's much chance of Daisy May going with me. But that kind of stuff happens.
"I've had some luck with psi skills, although most of it's been pretty bad. Maybe I can devise a way to switch us back; maybe it's not possible. Maybe it's something I can do with magic instead, but I'm leery of using a magical solution to a psionic problem if it's a do instead of an undo--none of this is making any sense to you, I'm sure. Probably you should just faint, and let me figure out what I'm doing with Hogg. You're welcome to come with me, if you like. I'm thinking on my feet here, and if you have any suggestions as to how I can get this--I'm a Christian man, so I can't call him what he really is--this scoundrel from crushing the life out of the orphanage, I'll gladly entertain your suggestions. I'm really not unreasonable, even if my superhero powers sometimes go awry."
With that, I'll check the gun to see what's in it, and head inside looking for the stairs to the bedroom level. I will pay attention to whether my body is following me.
