Actually, they are some pretty compelling arguments for THC.
One is that it is neither an upper nor a downer, nor is it a hallucinogen. Experts are at a bit of a loss for how to classify it, but there are many authors who partake because they feel it increases their creativity. There are two different classifications of the chemical/breeds of the plant, indicas, indigenous to Asia, the drug the Vietnam vets used, and... well, the other name eludes me at this time, the one more readily available, but the one affects the mind primarily and the other affects the mind to less an extent but also has a negative affect on coordination (the stats we refer to as Hand/Eye and Agility). Clearly, the one which affects the mind only is more sought after, but is largely unavailable in this country because the plants are much larger (7 - 9 feet tall, so you can't really grow it in a basement; harder generally to keep it hidden).
Another is that they have determined ways to administer it without smoking it. Pill form (Marinol is a drug administered as an appetite stimulant, No lie) and steam form (Superheat the plant in water in a special device, vaporizing it, and inhale the steam) are the popular ones; THC is not a carcinogen in and of itself, but many of the chemicals in smoke are. Thus, this is a non-carcinogenic way to access the chemical.
Also, there are no known physical withdraw symptoms, and the only recorded psychological withdraw symptoms are similar to those when breaking any bad habit. Thus, it is not classified as a chemically addictive substance.
To conclude, being as it is the holiday season,
DON'T MESS WITH THE NUTMEG. IT ISN'T WORTH IT.
