I was going to start my game thread up again, but I'm noticing a conspicuous lack of his presence.
So, uh, what happened to Eric?

It is my sad duty to report his fate: Eric was fighting the Democratic takeover of Congress, when he was trampled to death by angry enviromentalist lobbyists trying to force the US to sign Kyoto. He will be missed by all of his friends, services are this Monday. You may show your grief and express your outrage at the lobbyists power in Congress, by sending your generous donations to the Give Ed Money foundation.
(I wonder if anyone will actually believe me..?)

Sure, Ed, why not? After all, you're the only one here who has ever actually seen the man.
David, Eric was extremely active back in December or so, working with people on several world ideas, and then he backed down rather quickly. I'm accustomed to his tendency to become over-involved and then cut back drastically, so I'm not overly concerned.

Ya know Ed, for the most part, I could believe that story. Eric strikes me as the kind of guy that would join in a protest march in Washington DC. The "Give Ed money foundation" is what blew it.

Actually, Eric would probably say that protest marches are, more often than not, a childish waste of time that's more the province of attention whores, bored college students, and pseudo-activists. To a point, I would agree. It used to be effective, but now it's a whole polished industry where people are paid to show up by various well-funded political groups. You have marches and protests for the most inane causes and at the least provocation. The citizenry have just become desensitized to the whole affair.

Thanks for the concern, and the interesting theories.
I have, as MJ said, found myself over-involved, and stepped back. I continue to run 'Worldwalker' at RPOL.net, although with less enthusiasm. But this is a good place to catch me.
Also, I find myself in some disagreement over goals and strategies, and feeling fairly certain that nothing I could say would change anyones' mind, I stepped back. I hope this can change, but I am doubtful.
Also, one of my overaching goals naturally is to better my own life, and I find that I can do this more surely, and more quickly if I spend less time on Gamingoutpost trying to do the unlikely and the impossible, and instead merely focus on the eminently doable like cleaning my house more. This, while it lacks glory, has the wonderful effect of actually improving my life directly and quickly. I've enjoyed in a number of measures an improved lifestyle since I've stopped posting. I greatly enjoy game designing, but I also enjoy seeing some positive, tangible effect from my work. So, I have a cleaner house, and more time spent with my kids, and perhaps even getting 'Worldbook' published on the good side, and on the bad side, I have less time world designing which I really enjoy, and am probably kind of meant to do sometime, and less time hanging with my friends on GO.
I hope to, in the future, publish Worldbook SF and Worldbook Fantasy, both of which are almost done to add to Worldbook: Nine Alternate Realities. I also am interested in returning to posting at GO, but even if the way becomes clear for me to do so, it won't be at anywhere near my previous intensity. An enchantment has been broken, and its for the best. Its easy for me to put a fantastic amount of labor into a fruitless project which really should be going into something more important.
I do drop in and check up on ya'll frequently.
All the best,
