Hey, is there a way to "sticky" threads, to keep them on top or move them into their own section to be easily viewed? Bringing new players to the thread isn't very autonomous or newbie-friendly, and I was thinking about submitting a FAQ about the game, but it would be pointless if it just gets scrolled off the top posts.
Sticky?

Oddly, I had that ability on the old forums and never used it. I was talking about using it, trying to decide what ought to be in the introductory thread, but never did.
I agree that if it were made possible it would be useful; but it would have to be managed by a "moderator" and under the new software I'm not one. Also, I can see that the way the new software works, threads under the Multiverser forum are also displayed in the collected threads forum ("subforums" here are only edited listings from the complete thread collection that have the appropriate tag on them), so a sticky on the Multiverser forum would probably be a sticky on the main page, and although we dominate the site it's not really about us.
However, if there is a way to do a sticky in the Multiverser section, that would be a way to do it.
In the past we had a character creation thread, and whenever anyone new showed up we gave them the link to that thread; new posts on an old thread always pull it to the top, so that worked well enough. When a new player arrives, I'll create a new character creation thread, but I'm a bit pressed for time today.

Either I spoke too soon or Aaron is more efficient than I credit--it appears that I do have the power to make threads sticky (on the front page, as anticipated). I must give careful consideration to what ought to be said in such a sticky thread, but feel free to make suggestions.
My inclination is to keep it brief, using links to other threads that are not sticky to contain most of the information such as character creation papers.

Sounds good to me. I'll put some thought to how I would want to introduce the game to people I meet on the street (since I have some people I want to introduce to the game) and see about writing up a post for it.

I didn't do anything to make stuff sticky. I think I made MJ a board moderator, so that might be why he has the ability to do it. If there's anyone else who should be a moderator as well, let me know.

Since I am here six days a week and read nearly all the active threads (all since the move, but on the old boards there were a few game-specific forums I did not follow), I can't think of a good reason to spread the moderating too thin. Probably if anyone needs something stickied or moderated or something, they can let me know. I'm pretty fair about such things, I think.
Thanks much.
