   Okay, so Harry, Nikolaj, Shawn, Ahmetia, Eli, Oak, Kurt, Brock. I'd like each of you to express whether or not you'd like to have your gm changed to me, and then I'm going to roll a GE roll for each of you to see who ends up switching.

   That's a joke. I'm really not above doing it that way, but I doubt it would come to that. Everyone is informed on one of the sticky threads that at some point their game may be handed off to another referee; this doesn't by any means imply that MJ will never pick up your game again. My running style does at times ahdere a little bit less to the rules, but by no means do I intend to throw the rulebook out on any of you. It's important to keep it fair, but it's also important that we have a good adventure. The most important thing is that we have fun with it.

   so, who wants to switch?

   John 3 (Oak) is separately in Sherwood Forest, but he's been posting very infrequently to keep the workload down. He's become the healing apostle here, though, so it's taking a very interesting direction. He might appreciate someone picking up his game, or he might have gotten busy again himself.

   I am not closed to your kind offer. :)

   However, if the point is to help reduce MJ's workload, then you might want to focus more on the folks that MJ is currently spending more time on.

   As he observes, I have been sitting on the sidelines to help reduce his workload.

   If you take me on, you succeed in reviving my game, but you don't necessarily succeed in reducing MJ's current workload, since I haven't been contributing to that workload very much lately... :o

   I can handle more than one game. I'm an experienced referee, remember; the referee on the back of the rule book said to run games over lunch in the cafeteria? That would be me. That makes about eleven years experience running Multiverser, in case anyone doubts my ability. I may not be on the Valdron board of directors anymore, but I'd still like to help the corporation as best I can. In this case, that means giving the vice president of development a little extra time to work on some other projects -- the Third Book of Worlds which comes to mind, or perhaps some top secret project -- by taking over games here.

   Kyler, you've seen the four Terminator movies, have you not? I'm just curious why you couldn't pick up my game. I'm an expert in Terminator, and I doubt anyone here knows that world as well as I. That's OK though, because I hardly expect it to match what I know of the Terminator.

   I have seen the four Terminator movies, but that's one of my father's pet projects, I believe, in spite of your many attempts to derail it. Just don't forget one of the cardinal rules -- if it hasn't been said in gameplay, it doesn't exist. Just because you know the Terminator movies doesn't mean everything will go the same way as they went in the movie. The more you plan for specific events, the more likely it is that they won't happen.

    That was easy.

    I should note that Scott has a packet of precious gems purchased with Oak's "share" of the B Monster Movie World (about two thousand dollars worth, if I recall correctly), but I'm sure Oak does not know this and Scott does not know how to get it to him, so although Scott views it as being held in trust for Oak, there's no reason for it to wind up finding Oak if Scott doesn't think of something really clever for that. On the other hand, Scott is really clever, and might think of something.

    Oh--as usual, I don't promise that this is current and complete, so Oak should read through it and compare it to whatever notes he has.

    If you want another, just give a shout. Also, I'm guessing you have access to Sherwood Forest somewhere, but if you need e-copies of worlds we should talk about how I can get them to you. (I should probably also get you a copy of your character sheet, but yours is a Word doc with tabs and tables and hanging indents and columns, so it's a lot trickier to post.)

    Kurt and Eli coming up. Not that I'm trying to push people onto you, but did you overlook Brock or decide against Starship Destiny? Also, Dark Honor Empire is still unpublished; I've got it in a Word file (actually, part of the very large current draft of 3W, but I can excise it to it's own file or probably "print" it to PDF), but I'd need a way to get it to you. It occurs to me that there's a chance you will see your brothers tomorrow; if you want printed pages text me with a list of what you want--I'm good for paper and ink, so it's just time that matters. (I also have some of the coverless in-house copies of the rules here if you need one of them, and maybe a 1W in that set.)

    Hey, I certainly do not mind passing Kyler as many as he feels he can juggle. I have been very much overworked of late, trying to get to all the threads. I should warn you, though, Harry, that I can't promise he'll catch the character of Arabella quite as I do; it's still a bit nebulous in my own mind, and I'm not sure that there's enough in either the thread or the notes to convey that to him.

    Kyler indicated to me by text that he'd overlooked Brock; it happens that I anticipated that and sent a copy of Brock's current world along with Eli's. I apologized in the Blogless Lepolt, but let me do so again here: my phone alerted me to a waiting message, but it was the fourth of four and I did not realize that the "ck" at the beginning was actually the last letters of the last word of the previous message and Ryan and I tried to figure out what it abbreviated, so instead of checking for previous messages on the phone I "checked" the forum for messages. It was all in a flurry, since Ryan was trying to get on the road and I was trying to get organized otherwise, so I did not get everything packed that was requested. However, the other brother is coming home for the weekend and going back at some as yet unstated time, so someone and that's likely to be me will be headed up that direction probably Sunday or maybe Monday, and the extra hop to drop off the remaining materials shouldn't be too inconvenient at my end, assuming I'm not going to be so late as to be disrupting the sleep of the young ladies who live there.

    I'll have to make a list and get it all organized; hopefully tonight isn't going to be too busy for that.

    I will continue to run games until Kyler posts to them.

    On the not-entirely-baseless assumption that Kyler will pick up Brock as well, and having sent a printout of Starship Destiny by courier, I'm posting the character sheet here.

    Note to Kyler: the character sheets I use for the online game are not easily printed. They're all together on one huge Excel spreadsheet, with lots of gaps (because if one character has a lot more mag skills than another, that means the other has lots of empty rows under mag skills).     I have very minimal use of my nearsighted right eye that requires me to close the left one to focus it at all, but it has always been that way, so my depth perception is not that bad, I know how to compensate. As such, I don't rely on peripheral vision, I rely on hearing and a "sixth sense" for detection. I am overweight, at 166% optimal weight. Also, I have trouble remembering things unless I consciously commit it to memory, and ritualizing the memory process by writing the info down greatly enhances the retention rate for me. I keep a notebook with me at all times, with a 'promise section' at the front for all things I have to do first. Borderline asthmatic, has to catch breath after exertion.

    So, who wants to pick up their game thread from where it is right now, who wants a catastrophic event that will likely send their character on to the next verse, and who wants to start from scratch as they are right now? Kurt, Eli, Brock, Harry? Anyone I missed and anyone else who is ok to leave MJ's game and pick up one with me? Please mention to me what you're looking for from a mechanics perspective; ie, a great story, a realistic world feel, as fair a game as possible to the letter of the mechanics; the goal is usually to get all three at once, but I can be a bit of a switch GM when running games if there's something that particularly matters to you.

    I would like to stay in this world. I'm very easygoing with how a GM runs a game.

    Here is a current character sheet. You'll have to get a note from MJ about where my equipment is now. The question marks in the bod bias section is where I got confused.
    MJ said that all the skills I successfully used in the fight would get a new use mark.
    I wasn't sure if a skill I learned in the fight would get the mark.

    Adam--I much prefer passing players when they verse out, in large part because it keeps the world continuity. I don't so much mind passing them to Kyler, because we've worked together for literally decades now and have a pretty good feel for each other. Besides, I've been doing Durnmist very much on the fly and have an awful lot of it in my head, so it's not something I can hand you without more work than I can manage at present.

    It's probably my incipient OCD.

    One thing that really drew me to Multiverser when Ed introduced me to the concepts was the fact that the character's story never really ended. I'd had a dozen characters in extended campaigns that were no longer being played for various reasons usually related to dissolution of gaming groups or ends of story arcs or character deaths, and I always wanted to know what was next for them.

    I feel something of the same thing about the characters players drop. In fact, when I was asked to start a character here on the board I almost refused, based on the fact that I had a character already, and I didn't think anyone should have two verser characters. But then, no one was running a game for the other and someone was talking about doing so (and never did), and it made sense to let others run a game in which I was the player, so I went with the flow, as it were.

    I'm less fixated about it now.

    Well, I would suppose that speaking from a personal perspective, I couldn't possibly have felt that way, considering that I started at 9 years old; so much about me has changed that not starting from myself would be a disservice to myself. I offered to let anyone who wished to continue their current scenario continue it, and anyone who would rather start from scratch with me I extended that offer, and anyone who wished a nearly unavoidable catastrophic event to continue their character's story in a different world, I provided for that option as well.

    Yes, I noticed that you did, and I certainly can't say you did anything unfair or inappropriate.

    I always thought you'd have more aging accidents and so have your character closer in age to yourself, or at least get him to adulthood at some point. It didn't work that way.

    He could always get struck by lightning. That's a fun way to go. Or a tidal wave; they're pretty monstrous to a port town. Prison break. That would be a really nifty one, he'd get to go down fighting.

    This makes me think of what A1Nut was on about a while back, about how the 3 and the 30 on your GE dice could conceivably have the same outcome.

    Well, as far as I'm concerned the original suggestion was that you would take over his Sherwood Forest game, and if you're up for it I'll gladly let you take it. Just beat me to a referee post and I'll drop out.

    He's been hired to work in tax accounting for the shire reeve, and I figure that people who don't live in Nottingham who are hired for work in the castle probably live in the castle.
