   This is mostly for Eric. You're into post-apocalyptic scenarios, you should check out "The Road". It just came out on DVD on Tuesday. Food is scarce, to say the least. Father and Son, they've been starving for who knows how long, find an abandoned bomb shelter with a year's worth of canned goods inside it. A hot meal and a full stomach, a bath, and a warm place to sleep, probably for the first time in years. If I was rich, something like that would be in my backyard. If you're ever in a post-apocalyptic future, you will be grateful for people like me. Check that movie out. You'll love it.

   Just an aside, it's also got one of the strangest ranged-weapon fights I've ever seen. A guy gets shot with a bow and arrow and returns fire with a flare gun.

   I thought it was kind of interesting because I would have never thought of a bomb shelter as a place refugees of an apocalypse could find food and shelter. Something designed to help you survive an apocalypse, and I would have never thought of it in a story.

   I personally believe that we should be prepared for situations. You could lock me in my apartment and shut off all of the utilities, and I would be fine for a month or more. I've got enough canned food and bottled water to last at least that long. I could easily double that time if the electric and water stayed on. (Deep freezer full of meat) So yeah, bring the apocalypse. I'm ready.

   Well, that's probably only because you never played in a post-apocalyptic game world. It's pretty standard fair for Gamma World characters to explore bomb shelters looking for food and supplies--for one thing, anything that's not hidden will have been looted long ago; for another, they tend to be stocked with very practical survival supplies with long shelf lives.

   I've looted many in my gaming years.

   Oh yeah--those, and secret underground military installations. One was actually under water, under Lake Michigan if I worked out the geography aright, but the entrances were via underground access. I think maybe I entered another underwater one once, through secured entrances on concrete access points on the surface of the lake, but I'm less clear on that one.
