Rest In Pieces

Tags: , , ,

I think I may have caught up on my sleep. I got about two hours in the car last night while waiting to pick up someone delayed from work, and another two to three hours or so between hitting the mattress at three thirty and hearing the alarm at six to make sure the boy was on the school bus, and then after fighting to stay awake and twice not realizing that there was oncoming traffic until it was a few feet from me while delivering a houseguest to school half an hour or so away, I got about four more hours roughly from nine to one. I was startled awake by someone bursting into my bedroom in the midst of a loud conversation on the phone, and disoriented for a bit, but I was rested.

The missing blog post from a couple days back, A Brief Nine Hour Errand, reappeared in my drafts collection this afternoon–two days after I had summarized it, having given it up for lost. I was able to edit the time stamp and post it to the appropriate date, so it is not on the top of the front page but it does appear in the listings.

Our secretary informed me the other day that one of the new stock certificates had already been cancelled, that is, the stock (or a portion thereof) transferred to someone else. That means I have to make new certificates in my spare time between now and the stockholders meeting next week. I also have been asked to provide proxy forms for some active stockholders who will be unable to attend, in time for them to sign these and return them to us. I have started both of these tasks, but doubt I will finish them today. I also have to get to the grocery store tonight, and that’s next on my agendum (thanks to the houseguest who graciously prepared breakfast for dinner, saving me from having to do so).

Here’s hoping that I can get more than that done, but at least that’s a start.

What Am I Thinking?

I was up early for real this morning. The alarm rousted me at six in the morning; it was sometime between three and three-thirty that I had closed my eyes, and closer to four that I was asked to shut off the light. However, last night I was told that the girl who yesterday told me she would not need to be picked up today did need to be delivered, so it fell to me to drag myself out of bed and get her where she needed to be. I am still up; here’s hoping she does not call in the next half hour and say oops, she needs a ride home after all, because having stayed up all this time, I’m running on fumes already.

That’s not good, because I received word mid-morning that a couple of my co-workers are headed this direction. They are not really coming to see me; they are coming because one of my house guests is proposing a business opportunity in which they might decide to become involved. However, as long as they are in the area, we’re going to get a signature on those stock certificates, which is one less worry for me in the days ahead.

Also, I have been asked whether I am planning to feed them dinner and run a game. I’d had no such plans; in fact, it had not occurred to me that they might stay so long (brain fogged as I am) until the question was asked; my reaction is that I’d better get some sleep if that’s going to be on the agenda, because I’m already falling asleep in the first hour past noon, and I’ll never make it to the first hour past midnight. These things need more planning than that, but no one plans them.

I’d better go see to the forums. I am unlikely to get any sleep at this rate.
