The Art of BS

"BS = pulling stuff out of your ass" I was thinking, after my most recent response on the "Sick and Tired" thread, about the art that is RPGs. (Note: I am not going to start another "are RPGs art?" thread. Stay with me.) I've been introducing new people to gaming left and right here... All sorts of people with all sorts of background. At first, I tried to tell them that gaming was sort of like acting, but you don't get up and move around. I think that might have been a little confusing and daunting, especially to people who have never acted before. Then I just started telling them to BS. It seems to work better. So really... is gaming just sitting around a table, enjoying some snacks, rolling some dice, and BSing? Is that all it really boils down to when you remove the lofty egos of most gamers? Should we just start defining RPGs as "games in which you and/or a group of individuals BS"? Nathan Hill http://www.mysticages.com/
