Sean, I've been thinking a long time about your money system in/for Eden and how it will work. I don't think too many people/characters will be keen on selling off chunks of their souls for material [immaterial?] goods. So I've got an alternate cash system. Ready? Spirit. Not Soul. Spirit. Souls generate "spirit energy" constantly. Spirit energy powers 'coils'. Spirit energy powers Endotime-Hypermark-Zepplin Whack-o-punk Death Ray cannons. Spirit energy [maybe "sparks" ?] IS the economy of Eden. Everyone has / is a Soul, right? Everyone generates some 'spirit', so there are no poor. Souls only work if they feel like it. Paradise, right? The oldest Souls [Primordials I think?] generate the most spirit energy, which is part of the basis of their power. No coincidence then, that Franklin Talbot of the firm, Ptah in Eden, should be obsessed with money. I was reading part of the Egyptian Book of The Dead, and their split between Ba & Ka when I started kicking this idea around. There, finished. Pepe can run all over it now. :)
