Dualism, Catharism, and the Last Exodus

I'm currently reading "The Perfect Heresy" by Stephen O'Shea, an account of the Medieval Cathars, and the similarity between the Cathar heresy and the Last Exodus just struck me like a rock. Both espoused dualism--a good god versus a bad god. In the Last Exodus preview brochure, you have Azura Mazda, the good god, and the Godhead, the evil one. There's not enough to tell if you're drawing the same picture--that the evil god is the creator of Matter (in Catharism, the god of the Old Testament), and that matter is tainted from the beginning, thereby freeing people from earthly power, sacraments, and strictures, and that the good god is the god of the spirit, but the book is worth a read for ideas. Seriously--before you guys (SCS) finish the Last Exodus, you should really read this book. I think I'm going to bring it to ApartmentCon NYC and force it on one of you--it's got so many ideas for the Last Exodus that it's amazing. Also--I haven't read it yet, but I just bought James Morrow's "Only Begotten Daughter," a modern-day telling of Christ's sister.
