Eric mentioned wanting to start a thread about how the universe began. I thought I might start it and let him comment. I personally believe that God created the world in 6 24 hour days with one 24 hour day for resting. However, I ALSO believe that it is within the realm of possibility that God created the universe by a process similar to evolution. That God started "The Big Bang" in other words. Who knows, ya know? Why is it that 6 days couldn't translate out to 60 billion years to God? Just a thought. I believe it's possible, let's just leave it at that. Any other thoughts?
I already have a thread on this with twenty different world starts. I was thinking of expanding it.
My view--The Big Bang on the one hand is seriously flawed, and on the other hand necessitates the existence of God the Creator. Stellar and planetary formation theories are mostly junk as far as I know. Evolution itself is the merest film of utterly absurd fantasy, a defiance of logic, common sense, and science. When you start discussing Evolution, numbers like 10 to the 2086 (which is the supposed number of electrons in the universe start to make sense. In order for evolution to work, you have to buy a lottery ticket at those odds....and then you have to win.....and then next week again, and next week again....).
Without getting out my Bible, I can stand on Science, and scoff at the typical theories of the day.

Yeah Eric, I know what you're talking about. My mom is in a group called CRSEF. Christian Research Science Education Foundation. They use science to prove the Bible true. A lot to do with The Great Flood. What I was saying with God starting The Big Bang is that it could be a possible compromise for the Die-Hard evolutionists. Just a thought.
In order for evolution to have worked in this precise fashion, in order for this exactly to be how the world is. The chances of a thrown dart hitting a particular atom on a dart board are very, very small. The chances of it hitting the dartboard? Much greater.
When the dartboard is the only object you want to hit in a galaxy, and you're tossing the dart blindfolded from a neighbouring galaxy, it really doesn't matter that much whether you're aiming for the bullseye, or just the board.
Trust me, the Erisian Creation Myth is far more sensible than what highly paid scientists come up with. And I'm aware thats a cruel thing to say....to call the Principia Discordia sensible, but there it is.
A lot of the perception of the unlikelihood of these things comes from misperception and misanalysis of the statistics. I'm obviously not trying to convince you of the Big Bang (if I was, I'd make more than a passing reference to cosmic background radiation); I just couldn't let that "argument from the odds" stand completely unchallenged.
Otherwise, a passing observer might think I agreed with you! Oh, horrors! What would my sponsors think?
I can probably tear the Big Bang up a bit too, if you want to change the subject. 'Cosmic background radiation' is not as sturdy a pillar as all that, I understand. I've heard other theories explain it better, and more accurately, and before the Big Bang theory.

I was mocking myself and my motives for speaking up in the first place. And part of the point was that I didn't want to get into a pointless argument with you about science. I say "pointless" because I can't see either one of us convincing the other, and I also don't think either of us has to the time to dig up enough evidence to convince any bystanders, either.
