I actually have no idea why searching isn't built into the templates. All the functionality is there but you just can't see it. Weird...
Thanks, Aaron. That is odd; it's a strange oversight.
Perhaps the designers thought that the tag system would obviate the need for a search function. If you happen to be looking for articles related to one of the tags, it makes sense to use the tags to find them. On the other hand, I know I've hunted for things based on a turn of a phrase that I remembered, so a search function is a lot more sensible. Also, I'm not completely certain how to go about looking for something that has this tag and that tag, but that might be merely because I haven't tried it.

What exactly is this search function supposed to do?
Not sure what you're asking, John. It searches the boards and gives you a list of posts and topics matching your criteria.
John, if you're looking for a post you remember reading and can't find, you type a few words that would be in that post into the search box, and it returns all the threads containing those words, so you can go through just those instead of all of them.
Or if you're looking for information about psionics in play, you type "psionics" in the box and you get all the threads that use that word, so you can narrow down your quest that way.
It's a bit like using Google to find something, but it's limited to the forum posts (and maybe articles) here.
The archives have a search function, too, separate from this. I assume that's still working.
