Well I hate the world at this point in time-I've lost my orange box cd
key and I need to reinstall.
I have looked in the usual places in the registry for the CDkey but there
doesn't seem to be a definitive CDkey. All I can find is a registry entry
called 'key' and the numbers '1234567890123' as a value.
Can anyone help? Do I need a CD-key to reinstall if I backup my Orangebox
data?
Other then that I got a dud BIOS from Asus and my motherboard needs
swapping out.
Axiz cant help me and reverting to a previous BIOS isn't working.
It's been a bril day ;_;

When in doubt, Google. I've gotten viruses, I Googled virus software. Perhaps the Orange Box, whatever that is, is old enough that it had become a shareware program that you can find online. Also check LimeWire for it.

I'm assuming that Tony and Zhoulost are not in cahoots to Spam us with this information about CDKey. I've read the original post and consulted with one of my electronic game savvy sons.
If I understand aright, you purchased the CD to play Orange Box on line; this is apparently a relatively new online game about which most of those not involved are unaware. However, to play the game you must have both your CD and your CD key which functions much as a password to guarantee that you are not a hacker. You have your CD, but you have misplaced the CD key.
Since the game is new, there's not likely to be much in the way of cracks for it yet. I'm not really comfortable with CD cracks, as they are largely used to pirate software, but I see the legitimacy in using them when you have the original CD and lose the key.
On the other hand, if indeed you bought the CD, you should be able to prove that you bought an original CD. Try contacting the Orange Box customer service people, whoever they are. I had that problem with Record Producer Plus from Voyetra, and since I had purchased online with a credit card and so was a registered owner, they not only sent me the correct code when I lost it, later when I upgraded my operating system they sent me an updated code that would activate the software under the new OS. Talk to them and see whether they have any options for you. Obviously, they have two conflicting interests here--one, to help any genuine customer resolve technical problems, and the other, to prevent hackers from busting into the site.
Otherwise, you're probably out of luck.

I notice that you posted a question concerning where you might get a CD Key for this relatively new game. You were immediately answered--the time stamps here are not terribly accurate, but both your post and the post that answered it are at this moment marked as "18 hours ago"--by someone telling you what a great deal a certain supplier of such codes is. What is surprising is that he, a poster named Zhoulost who if memory serves frequently Spams us with comments about this particular supplier, has exactly the same IP, 222.85.90.182, that you have--and you have the same IP when you respond again. The odds that two different posters would have the same IP that close together are pretty slim. Our Spam filter marked it as probably Spam, and I had tentatively approved it but then saw the connection and deleted it.
Let me give you good reason not to post such things to this site: Gaming Outpost has been, for its entire now eleven years existence, about pen-and-paper role playing games, along with other board and hobby games. Computer games are not part of the focus here. Sure, some people here play computer games, but not more than you would find on any other site, and some here don't like computer games because they compete with "the real thing". You're wasting your time here. Your Spam posts won't get through our filters, if they do we will delete them, and besides our readers aren't interested in your offerings.
