For All, Particularly Eric

As announced in my blog, we have finally restored a company/game website at Multiverser.org, and have incorporated a fair amount of support material including handouts, maps, and other supplemental materials.

It occurs to me that our players have created some materials themselves, and these might be useful to others. I am wondering particularly whether Eric has some sort of index of his world efforts somewhere. I am reluctant to attempt to track and catalogue them all myself, but can see the value in pointing referees to what he's got. I mention him specifically because I know he has a lot of stuff out there, but that's an open call for anyone who has stuff on the web (even posted in the archive discussions here) they find useful. Links to fan support material makes sense, I think.

Thanks.

No, I don't not really.

There is some of WAW Redux listed under my name here. There is some WAW the Original listed under 'lost to the ages'. There is a bit of stuff in 'Singularity's End' my first blog here (and probably a bit in 'Tales of Tadeusz' my very first blog), and there is some that I've put in my newest blog here.

Also, I've got 'Placeholder Worlds for the Desperate GM' on Lulu.com.

My ten thousand word speech on 'Quick World Creation' is at RPOL.net.

I might be missing something.

Now maybe I could start creating an Index page, but in ways I'd prefer to make copies of whats elsewhere, and post them on my newest blog.

If I did that I'd probably focus on the world settings and then on the WAW's.

Right now, I'm going on a blitzkrieg trying to post some stuff thats been sitting on my computer for years. Some of it had very little touch-up needed before I sent it off. Others required more, and a few were wholly constructed.

I would not mind posting them to this new website which might work better than a blog. I could also try to make a purely Index Blog here, I suppose.

At your soonest convenience, please get me links to some of that stuff that is particularly supportive of Multiverser--the placeholder worlds for certain, maybe the RPOL address. I'm expanding the support site a bit, and I want to include links to unofficial but useful stuff (including my own Martial Arts in Role Playing Games site, which just went live on M. J. Young Net so people don't have to fight with Tripod).

Thanks. Anyone else who has anything that might be useful as Multiverser support, let me know.

I'll try to post it here.

I think I should do it in installments because there is just so much stuff that I've created for Multiverser. I've probably written well over 200,000 words on Multiverser. As you can tell by that figure, I think its a wonderful idea.

Let's see...top stuff.

1. Placeholder Worlds for Desperate GM's: Its at Lulu.com.

Here's Eric R. Ashley's Lulu Store:

2. 'Worldwalker' online game at RPOL.net in the Science Fantasy subsection. This is probably one of the biggest in post numbers, and one of the most long-running since I passed my two year anniversary a while back. The current gamemasters are Playtester (who's been described as 'a genius at plotting') and Krillis (who for fun learns Latin).

http://rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=9041&gn=Worldwalker&date=1190587031

3. Quik World Creation Guide: This seven thousand word speech has been described as:

--I hope your audience will have ingested its daily requirement of coffee, tea, or cola. Their brains will need to be fully functional to grasp the treasures you are offering them on a silver platter.--Misty Reynolds.

It was well received at Novacon and Hallowcon.

You can find it at the following:

http://rpol.net/display.cgi?gi=9041&gn=Worldwalker&ti=41&date=1168793799

This is not specifically Multiverser related, but 1)Its sheer excellence and 2)It would be extremely useful for Multiverser GM's.

4. Ten Faces of America is a short article on Alternate Americas. One of the problems beginning GM's face is when they want a fairly neutral background for their story, but at the same time one should generally avoid saying...'Its just like America, except for the story changes.' This is boring, but at the same time, you don't want something that detracts from the story. Hence a neutral, and mildly odd background setting. You have ten choices to choose from here.

5. Symbiont Academy is a world setting with megascale engineering, near-future politics, detailed and unusual aliens (four major species with others less detailed to deal with), a symbiont creature that can gift your character with power if it doesn't drive him insane, a galactic society and all this bundled up in an Alien High School called the School of a Dozen Doors.

This world is publishable as is, but its being playtested again, and new ideas will be added to it to help make the good, great.

6. A Mischief of Maidens is an anime setting for fans of Tenchii Muyo. Our hero has some problems, happily he has some help. Lots and lots of girls with jobs ranging from Goddess, to Space Snail, to Time-travelling Supercommando to Secret Agent Next Door to EVIL Dragon (who really does want to unleash total devastation, but after her date) all want to help him, at the same time. He does also have a trainer, an Ancient Master to train him has been reincarnated in the body of a young boy who would rather play with his video game system than train. Can our hero save the future? More importantly, can he go on a date without one of his other girlfriends showing up to ruin it?

7. Demonstrating the amazing breadth of worlds is this choice from the upcoming worldbook Grim Futures is Second American Civil War. Its the Heartland Red versus the Bicoastal Blue as the bonds of unity fray and snap, and then melt in thermonuclear fire. The Heartlanders thought the Bicoastals were cowards. The Bicoastals thought the Heartlanders were stupid. Both sides thought the War would be over quickly and easily just as both sides in the first American Civil War thought.

Both sides were dead wrong. Tactical nuclear weapons have been used. Vast armies burn the land. Starving refugees surge about the countryside looking for food. Its a scene of horror, and the worst has not yet come.

Can you stop it, or even slow this juggernaut of doom down?

Check it out at:

Thanks. I will be certain to include at least some of those links on the new site section.

If anyone else has accessible materials for Multiverser use, let me know.

Thank you.

I need to rewrite and/or expand 'Eleven Faces of America'. Its an important tool...but it could use monies, and city names, and other bits...and just a bit of rewriting.

McCallister has a very interesting idea for something he calls the 'Endless Plain'. Its a universe with infinite landspace, ley lines of various elemental forces, and creatures adapted to those forces. I'll try to get him to finish it up some more so it can be presented.

And I'll see if Krillis can do something as well. He's created a large number of worlds.

I understand that if even the 10% best of mine were put up, it'd swamp the website.

I'm freelancing as you suggested with Cthulu Aventus. I hope to find some work with the gaming director at Constellation as I know he was interested in doing something other-dimensional for his own game. And I'm hoping to put some more of my stuff up on RPG.now once I get some covers--anyone here interested in making me covers for world settings, I'd be pleased to hear from you....
