When you were in our starting gather world, about the time you left the forum, there was an issue of eighty thousand dollars that The Architect had left for us to use. Your character was personally in charge of said money. Scott and I got into an all-out war over it. I thought that it should be split evenly between everyone, Scott thought that it should be used as a community fund. I almost shot your character in the head over this. (MJ was playing you as an NPC)
I was just wondering how you would have wanted it to be handled. Community fund, or 5 equal shares? I've been wondering for a long time. Just curious.

The Architect was leaving. A Dar Koni spaceship had arrived, and one of his missions in the verse is to deliver the gospel to the Dar Koni--you probably saw the Dar Koni translation of the Bible he had in the hotel. As he was preparing to leave, he handed Nikolaj the remainder of the cash he had gotten from selling the jewelry, and said that Nikolaj was to use it to take care of the group. In essence, he entrusted Nikolaj's judgment on how to use the money for the long-term benefit of everyone.
John's first proposal was that the group should evacuate the hotel and buy a house; others did not feel that was the best use of the money. When that proposal was rejected, John decided that he wanted "his share" of the money. Scott pointed out that no one said anyone got a "share". John wanted to put it to a vote, but Scott pointed out again that the money was not given to the group to decide what to do, but to Nikolaj to use on behalf of the group, and thus it was not a democracy.
John and Scott got into a bit of a battle in which Scott used his telekinesis to take the gun away from John after John shot a bullet past Nikolaj's head into the wall behind him.
It was agreed that each member of the group would be given a couple thousand dollars from the total to invest in whatever each thought would be worth having in future worlds. Scott was given Oak's share, as Oak at that moment was in military custody, but Scott acquired some things for Oak with the promise to deliver them at his first opportunity.
That should clarify some of it.
John's question is, given that the Architect handed you eighty thousand dollars with the instructions that you should use it for the group, and that John wanted to take his "share" and leave, would you have divided the money between the group and gone your own way, or would you have kept it and continued to pay the expenses of the group, or do you have some other solution?
And it's entirely moot and you need not answer, because what your character actually did was agree to give each member a small portion of the money but keep the bulk to pay the bills while exploring whether there was a less expensive way to live than a luxury hotel suite.

I have no idea. Money isn't quite my thing, but the responsability to it would make me think about it. Seeing as The Architect gave it to my character to take care of the group with it that would be what I'd try. Keep the money and use it to fund the needs of the group, based on moral judgements. But all depends on circumstances and my mood.
I'm not sure whether my character believed the verser stuff yet, but his goal would be to keep living, so he wouldn't be trading stuff I think. Yet he did, as he has some gems and jewelery now from it. But I wprobably wouldn't have decided to divide it anyway, and upon your character shooting at me I might have just drawn a line and called the cops. :)

MJ, have you ever had something that you wanted to ask someone who you had stopped talking to, and you promised yourself that the next time you talked to them, you were going to ask? Well, this was one of those kinds of things. I've just wondered for quite a while what Nikolaj would have done in that situation.

. . . but that's what the dice are for. Since we never had to roll them, we'll never know. Probably a good thing - you get to keep the bullets, after all.
