Before I forget to post this:
I received word today that Dave Arneson, co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons and creator of Blackmoor, the game which introduced role playing concepts to hobby games, died last night.
I knew him only briefly and only through electronic correspondence. He, a long-time elder in his home church, was being added to our list of Christians in the gaming industry. He had a cute anecdote about the time they were interviewing for a new pastor, and one of the candidates mentioned the evils of Dungeons & Dragons in his sample sermon. The elders corrected him.
And so the maker of our hobby goes to join the maker of us all.

Now I'm wondering if anybody ever rented that Futurama episode I recommended, featuring Gary Gygax. Mr. Gygax actually did guest voices for several Futurama episodes.
