You want to know why I try not to interfere? I'm watching Sliders. Pretty much the same concept as versing. Here's the thing though. Quinn and company always interfere to help someone. They see what they think is a person being assaulted, and jump in to save them. The thing is, 9 times out of 10, the person they think is being assaulted is actually being rightfully arrested by local law enforcement. Obviously, Quinn and company end up getting arrested themselves. I'd say that's a pretty darn good reason NOT to interfere.
In that case, the oddity is that the Sliders don't seem to learn. After all, if it happens as frequently as you suggest, you'd think they'd realize that things are not usually what they perceive.
On the other hand, the question before you is whether you have had similar experiences which would cause you to believe that your judgment in such things is similarly flawed.
Further, the better response to the Sliders dilemma is not never becoming involved but rather taking the time to discover the true circumstances before doing so.

My approach seemed to me to be that of a Judge. Observe, study, weigh the evidence, and the duties and the alternative courses possible, and finally, finally make a decision and carry it out.
While we're naming our approaches, I suppose I'm a Guest. It's just tricky sometimes figuring out whose house it is.
For me, I take my cue from one of my heroes, The Doctor: "Interfere? Of course we should interfere. Always do what you're best at, that's what I say."
It's my philosophy of the verse: I'm here for a reason, and that reason must be that I can make a difference to someone or something. It might take some time for me to figure out who or what that is, and how I can help, but that's why I'm here.

Well see MJ, that's the thing. I think there is a difference between "Getting Involved" and "Interfering". (Let me have semantics here) The MP forced me to "get involved" but I didn't "interfere" until I warned them of the attack.
In Dancing Princess, I got a job blacksmithing. I helped a poor man raise a dowry for his daughter. I taught an 11 year old boy how to fight. I "got involved" in Dancing Princess. I didn't really "interfere" until I went to the castle.
In my current world, I am "involved." However, I won't be "interfering" until Lauren's disaster hits us. Does that make any sense?
"Not getting involved" would be just finding a quiet spot out in the woods that had good hunting and good fishing, and just living like Tarzan.
