Ya know, I just had a thought. As I have explained, the difference between mental illness and insanity is that the mentally ill person knows and accepts that they have a problem, and the insane person doesn't know that they have a problem, and thinks they are fine, and the rest of the world is messed up.
I wonder how many of you are insane....
Scott, you seem to be a bit of a perfectionist, I've noticed. That could be a sign of low-grade obsessive compulsive disorder. You could, technically, be insane if you're not aware of that.

It was this thought that I had. My mental illness is more obvious, but at least I am aware of it. Are all of you aware of your own?
(I just think this is really funny, and could certainly be useful in world design. A world where everyone is psychotic, and the verser was normal, thought insane by the locals??)

Brock, what I was kind of saying is, ya know how I told you that I get stopped by the police for talking to myself? If you landed on that world, everyone talks to themselves, and people would look at you strange because you weren't.

In my far future world where degenerative mutations have affected pretty much everyone, the normal person is nuts in some way or the the other. This is a great world for a fairly new verser as the verser if he is at all a normal human being will be considerable superior to practically anyone.
You could also do something subtly pschyological. Are you the sane person, or is everyone else seeing something you're not? If they can see in the ultraviolet which is the color the Evil Invading Aliens are, then their bizarre tendencies to dodge suddenly, and open fire on innocent patches of the air with their disintegrator cannons might be completely sane.
Then again, supposedly the thing with Lovecraft is the question...are you nuts? Did you just kill a policeman, or was it an ogre that was transforming to eat you? Everyone else claims it was a policeman, and the dead body looks like that. Of course, it could be that everyone sees the Fey Monsters, but they know if they pretend not too, the Unseelie Court will probably pass them by, and eat someone else. Or it could be that only the Target can see the True Reality underneath the Glamour.
Or it could be that the locals are biologically different than human even though they look human. Say the locals have a normal tendency to go berserk a couple times a week.

The expression is a hybrid; the originals are "hit the nail right on the head" and "hit him right between the eyes".
But there is something humorous to "hit the naiil right between the eyes".
