Pre-this: Glyn-Chan told us at Halloween about a 44 year old creepy man who was stalking her, touching her inappropriately, and tried to get her in his car. Luckily a friend of hers and the brookdale police helped her last time cause she was in such shock and couldn't do much. This is now:

Wow, that is quite the story. Good for her for being so strong! I'm glad she wasn't hurt too badly.
Me too, she currently has to go to his trial and I'm shooting for consecutive life without parole.

Usually in cases like this, catching the guy isn't the problem. It's first getting the victims to press charges, then proving the case in court. Rape is one of the most difficult crimes to prove, and a lot of the time, victims won't prosecute for whatever reason. I hope it all works out for you.
According to my friend, he killed them too, which sounds about right, why else try and force them into a car to a undisclosed location?
Ahmetia, I hope this doesn't sound overly tacky, but do you know the rapist's name? Serial killers are a topic of great interest to me. Something I study. Thanks.

Sorry, no, and I doubt anyone would want me to say it if I did know before his trail, though I guarantee, that dude is freaking 110% guilty.

As far as I am concerned, it's a matter of time, if they think he's serial and kills girls, there's probably a lot of physical evidence against him along with my friend's testimony.
Actually, arrest reports are a matter of public record, unless the suspect is a minor or a judge issues a gag order. There is a remote chance that publicity might poison the jury pool--which means that by the time the trial comes, the court can't find anyone who has not already begun to form an opinion or heard stories about the case that are not part of the evidence--but you mentioning his name on a forum as popular as Gaming Outpost is not likely to have much impact--Harry is not likely to be called for Jury Duty, and John certainly won't be summoned to the New York metro area for that purpose.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. People publish IM names all the time. (I bet you can't guess what mine is....) Worst case scenario, you would get some weirdo and have to change it, but that's unlikely in the extreme.

Unless they've upgraded the software, blocking a weirdo is not a terribly effective means of eliminating him--he can easily get another screen name and contact you again.
But then, I shut down all chat programs quite a while back, so it's possible I'm insufficiently informed about them at present.

it's more of an annoyance then if he would continue, block after block after block, eventually, he'd probably think I was not worth the trouble and that'd suit me just fine.
Yeah, you can block someone with 2 mouse clicks. Takes a lot longer than that to set up a new screen name.

Worst case senario, I have already had this aim for way too long and there's already a bunch of people I don't even remember that hasn't logged on in ages and I would created an updates aim user name and friend list. I am debating whether or not to anyway.
Right. Blocking is not generally sufficient.
And John, one of the key reasons why I no longer have any "chat" communication programs is that there were one or two people who kept changing their screen names so that they could harass me and use up my time with inane questions and conversations.

Yes, once you realize that this person who has been wasting your time is in fact the same person you blocked before. Anyone who is stalking you whom you've blocked is going to make an effort to conceal his/her identity on the next contact.

People are rarely that careful in my experience, once meet a guy from a free dating site that was clear he was only interested in one thing and seemed like the worst way.
I go regularly to Linkiest for my political geekery, and certain regulars accuse others of being banned commenters, and repeatedly banned at that. I think there is truth to a lot of these accusations.
This seems like a good enough place to flog my novel, Death of a Blogger, about a lefty troll who decided to deal with his conservative opponents on the Net by poisoning them. So if someone you don't know that well sends you a t-shirt, don't put it on. :)
For a bit, I used a screenname because some of the things I said might offend the Religion of Pieces. At one time, I talked to an anarchist guy online who said that having several masked guys beat up a person for waving a protest sign was a-ok as long as the protestor was 'pro-Iraq war' aka a 'fascist'.
And Jhiaxus is a computer expert.
OTOH, I know one guy who tried to get a fatwa. He tried very hard indeed. But, it would have only boosted his web traffic, and he probably would have responded to a fatwa by buying ten thousand more rounds of ammo. The first jihadi to try to pull a Theo Van Gogh on him would have learned that Texans shoot while Dutchmen film.
And thats one point with your story. Its not a tale of 'oh no, I'm weak.' Its a tale of 'how the bad guy got his head handed to him.' I'd say most thugs and pervs would steer clear of someone with a notch on their gun belt. Its a known fact that if you're walking down a street, and you look confident and aggressive, thieves are more likely to leave you alone.
I used to be more worried about online stuff, but I'm less so now, for the time anyways.
My father forwarded a photo to me the other day which seems appropriate here. It is of a suburban home with a large sign in the front yard. The sign says that the homeowner next door favors gun control, wants to eliminate the right to keep weapons in your house, and that he has no guns in his home; and that out of respect for his neighbor's beliefs, the homeowner in this house will not use any of his own guns to defend that neighbor's property.
Cute, at least.
Tim Sham, author of The Primer Universe (which I am not recommending), asserts that on some of the discussion boards there are posters who have multiple identities so that they can post their opinions, attack themselves, and then make their pretended attackers look bad. It has become nearly axiomatic on the Internet that the requirement that posters provide real-world identification of themselves creates a more civil atmosphere in the posts.
Perhaps it is only the type of harassment you get. I seem to attract people who want to see how far they can push me before I block them, who start with questions that are indeed probably stupid questions but which I know people ask, and then keep going with more and more questions to keep me busy talking to them instead of doing other things. It only takes about ten minutes for someone to set up another identity, and they can use up twenty to thirty minutes of my time before I've recognized that it's one of those. (After all, I don't want to be rude to strangers who have questions. They might be customers, or people with real valid questions or concerns.)
So if all it is is people wanting sex talk or something, sure, if you block them they'll go away.
I remember someone messaging me and introducing herself, what she did, lots of small talk. Then I asked what was on her mind, and she said "I have the body of a twenty-six year old, and I know how to use it." To this I replied, "Yes, and the police are still looking for him." She never contacted me again.
I just couldn't resist my viler impulses at that moment.
