To inject your personal issues into everything is selfish and rude.
I would daresay that starting a thread simply to point this out is also selfish and rude. What does this have to do with gaming? It's nothing more than a personal attack on me. That's quite selfish and rude if you ask my opinion.
Thanks for your post, Pelletier, and welcome to the forum. You are absolutely right that John posts too often about his problem and his therapy, neither of which have anything to do with gaming (he can't even claim that it has to do with his character, since quite some time ago his character found a way to be healed of the problem). We tolerate partly because we are tolerant, partly because to run Multiverser effectively you have to get to know your players and so personal conversations are encouraged, and partly because it's easy enough to ignore someone's posts if you're not interested in what they have to say.
I apologize for his disruptions; unfortunately, I cannot promise that it won't happen again.

That's odd. On my screen, the top post is blank.
Thank you for your input, Mr. Young. I would hope to see JohnA1Nut get to a point when he never even uses the word psychosis or psychotic.
Many posts are kinda like... "By the way - did you know I'm psychotic?"
I'm just talking out of frustration. I was compelled to post what I said because in my life I see my problems as much worse. I don't wanna drag anyone into my problems though. Please continue having fun, everyone.

The top post in this thread is blank. The post is there, but there's no next of any kind in the box. That's odd. At first I thought MJ took it out, but he apparently read it. Is something wrong with the site?
It seems that Pelletier decided that his original post was inappropriate and edited out all the content after you and I had read it. It's not quite an apology, but it is an effort to withdraw the statement, and the newer post is more of an apology--a sort of "my own problems had me frustrated and to some degree I overreacted".

I'm getting there. A little at a time.

Well, no one has asked you NOT to talk about them here. Do you have Myspace? I'm always on the lookout for new people to talk to.

To be clear up front, this is asked in genuine curiosity.
MJ, didn't you tell me that your son Tristan was traumatized by a world he ran through? I think you've posted here about that. I wouldn't be the first player to have that happen. Did you tell Tristan to "Just get over it?" Seriously, I'm genuinely curious.
I apologize for his disruptions
I'll make my own apologies, thank you. Really, I mean no offense by it. I'm sorry if I offended you, but this is the way I am. If you only knew how much I haven't been posting lately, you'd likely be amazed.

I think that's a misunderstanding of what I said, due in part to the fact that Multiverser characters have the same names as their players.
E. R. Jones tells tales of a Traveler character he had; I don't remember the name, but we'll call him Han (because it's easy to remember in the context and not a lot of letters to type). Han was in a fire fight and nearly lost his life. Han was the pilot of the group. After that, Han never left the ship. He didn't carry a gun, either--the ship had heavy duty ship-to-ship weapons and he had the controls, and as far as he was concerned he could kill anyone who got close enough to be threatening with them. Han was traumatized. Ed, however, still came to games, played other characters in other games, and was as normal as he ever was (which was never very, perhaps, but probably more so than I).
Tristan played Tristan, who started in NagaWorld as one of my first five players. I made a list of five worlds to which those five players would go when the versed out, so I could try different things with the game, which was still in development. Tristan versed out third, and the third world on my list was Poe's Cask of Amontilado. I had to do some heavy on-the-fly revisions, as I did not see any way for a seven year old boy to be mistaken for a famous wine taster, but I managed it. He went through the core of the scenario completely oblivious to the fact that during the night Montressor killed Fortunato; the butler delivered him safely into the care of the police, who were going to attempt to find his parents. But Montressor was not certain that Tristan didn't see, hear, or know anything significant, and Tristan was present when Fortunato arrived. Thus the killer decided to stalk and kill the apparent orphan. Tristan won that confrontation, but versed out shortly thereafter and was so traumatized that he avoided residential areas for quite a few words thereafter. On the other hand, the real living Tristan has no problem visiting people he doesn't know in their homes, or living in residential or urban areas.
Kyler was also traumatized. He believes that when he was in Why Spy "C" forced him to do things no nine-year-old should have to do. As a result he fears and hates authority figures, particularly the police but most other adults who attempt to exercise the authority they assume comes with their identity. The real Kyler, though, does reasonably well working as a manager in a retail outlet.
I have no problem with the notion that John Cross was traumatized by his confrontation with an MP in Pearl Harbor, and as a result will never allow himself to be taken by any uniformed law enforcement official again--as long as we all recognize that it is the fictional John Cross who lives in the game who was so traumatized, not the real John Cross for whom all of this is only a story. This is not The Never-Ending Story; it really is "only a story". If it becomes too real, you need to disconnect from it.

It was, it's not anymore.

Oh yeah, and disconnecting from it would have been absolutely the WORST thing I could have done. I'd still be back where this took up 75% of my waking thoughts and gave me nightmares.
I want to know who the fudgehead was that wrote this. Do you know anything about psychosis fudgehead? It causes me pain the likes of which you could not imagine. All of my life, I've been bullied and harassed for it. People I've never seen in my life have gotten up in my face and said "Why aren't you normal???" just for living my life and being myself. Leaving them alone.
Then some self-righteous fudgehead like you has to go and make a personal attack on me in one of the few places where I actually feel accepted for the most part. The mentally ill are one of the few remaining groups of people who are still acceptable targets of open discrimination. I can't wait until you're reincarnated as a paranoid psychotic.
I really want to know. Who are you fudgehead???
(Doing Therapy)
John, you do know that you are addressing someone who hasn't posted for two years, don't you?
--M. J. Young
And that someone never posted before that or since. They popped up solely to make a personal attack on me.
Do you know who it was?
I certainly do not know who it was, nor remember ever thinking that I knew. If I ever thought I knew, I have long forgotten even that I suspected anyone in particular. I might be able to come up with a score of guesses, all of which are based on such obscure points as 1) referred to me as "Mr. Young"; 2) he read enough of the forum to notice that you posted a lot about your personal problems; 3) he uses American English correctly with no egregious mistakes. The third point eliminates Max and a number of people who have less excuse for their mistakes. The first point eliminates most of the people who know me personally, as they would reference me either as "Mark" or as "M.J.", but for a few who perceive themselves as not in my generation. The second point eliminates most of the people I know around here. I thus conclude that it is probably someone I have never met.

It REALLY pissed me off, Okay???
No different than the kids that used to follow me to school every morning. Except now I'm big enough to fight back.
Do us both a favor and don't reply. I just needed to blow off some steam.
(Doing Therapy)
I don't think it was me.
well, I'll give you the new use mark for your necromancy skill for this one, I guess.
Without the ability to see the initial statement (bad form on his part, an apology without the content removal would have been best, I think), I'm afraid that you don't look great for making personal attacks on him, especially since he already made a public apology and retracted his statements.
Kyler was traumatized already before he even versed in there; that was just another step in the comic tragedy. I mean, seriously, imagine dying (if you can) and then waking up in a totally different world surrounded by people you know, then watching them all go off one by one never to return and "feeling" them disappear forever; after that, and when he versed out for the second time, he really had to grow up very quickly.
It's hysterical to watch him flail in hopeless attempts at survival only to hang himself in his own actions, but in the end his story is of a child alone in the verse. Sad, but compellingly so.
That's one reason why I'm looking forward to the twist that drives a wedge between Mariska and him.
That's one reason why I'm looking forward to the twist that drives a wedge between Mariska and him.
Do the names "Whisp and Mother" ring a bell?
Sure do. I believe the story went something like this:
Whisp totally blew himself out, think it may have been a tacheon grenade; anyway, his physical form was so battered that he needed to be reborn into a new body. It just happened that he was born into a female body. Now, Whisp, being what he was, insisted to his parents that he was not their precious, innocent daughter, but was actually a fearsome alien bounty hunter from another dimension. The little fantasy was at first cute, then disturbing, then compelling, and eventually he drove his parents so insane with frustration and self-blame that they killed themselves. However, his mother had been exposed to scriff. She made the connection between her child and her experiences, and she determined that she would do whatever it took to kill Whisp and attain her final respite.
I think that Mariska and Ky might one day go their seperate ways in a more amicable fashion; she trains to have the power to make a difference and he trains to have the power to survive. So far they've compromised pretty well, but I think the multiverse would be a slightly better place if she stopped letting him hold her back.
