Adam--
I have been told just recently that upon one of his visits here JW took the wooden box in which the ashes of our dog "Woozle" were placed, and that he probably left them at your house. We do want them back--not in a "please return them ASAP" sense but in a "please don't discard them" sense. We'll work out the delivery process some other time.
For all of you eavesdroppers who are totally confused, shame on you for eavesdropping; but then, shame on me for sending private messages via a public forum. John Walker has lived with us on and off over the years, and was very fond of a dog who lived with us for a significant overlapping chunk of that time. John has also resided with Adam for a few stretches in more recent years. It was not unreasonable for him to want to have the ashes of the cremated pet near him for a while; but he tends to move from one place to another quite a bit, and to leave inessentials behind him. This message is simply to ensure that Adam does not mistake a decorative wooden chest left by John for unclaimed trash cluttering his home, but sets it aside until we can arrange transfer, possibly when we are both at Ubercon, possibly at some sooner meeting.

I will look for it, John left a lot of wooden boxes, can he give a little description so I don't go opening them all and have to find them that way?
Ouch.
My recollection is that it's about 9" wide maybe 5" front to back and 2.5" high, and my brain says that that two-tone look is typical of cedar, but it's shellacked or varnished so it doesn't have a cedar smell. It's got a brass latch, I think, but not a prominent one, and the break is about two-thirds up from the bottom. I don't think it has legs, but is simply flat-bottomed.
I didn't really study it. It should be a bit heavier than you would expect for an empty box.
