And wow, that's clever.

Thanks. That's not exactly what it was intended for, but I work with what I have.

The hounds charge you.

How many hounds? I don't like dogs anyway. Especially not hellhounds. Start shooting dogs.

I hope this guy is still alive when I'm finished. Since I'm deaf, I'll have to speak sign language. Middle finger is pretty universal......

Two

That trick with raising one sense by dropping another. I wonder if you could do that in a fight. Intensify taste and make your sense of touch go away. Then you couldn't feel pain.

Three

I reread that. I've got 8 hounds and 12 bullets. I probably won't live through this, but so be it. I won't be necessarily "shooting to kill." If I can injure the hound to where it is no longer a threat, that's good enough for me. If the first shot puts it down, it's still alive but it doesn't want to play anymore, I'll just leave it to suffer and go on to the next. The coat is untearable, bulletproof and fireproof. Not even those alligators on the TerraNova spaceship could bite through it.

And if I live through this, I'm going to take that horn and ransack the sleigh.

(Doing Therapy)

You fire and clip one in the shoulder, and flip him on the side. Move to the right, and miss. Move to the right further, and blow the thing's head off. It evaporates in the wind.

The hounds charge up to you, and have to skid to a halt around you as the ice on the roadway makes their blazing speed a problem.

You fire again at one just three feet from your hand. Miss. Gritting your teeth, you fire again, winging the next one. You track to fire again...

One leaps at you, and knocks you off your feet. Another leaps over you, going for the throat, but only blocking the others as it flies over your toppling body. You fire into the chest of the one that knocked you over.

One to your left bites you on the scalp, and the one to your right clamps on your arm, and cannot bite through the jacket. The one in your face smashes it head into yours, and dies on your chest with a hundred pounds of dog laying on you, and your gun arm somewhat tangled up with the dog clamped on your arm....and more coming....

What the hell am I doing??

Psionic flight. Get the hell out of here.

(Doing Therapy)

Two

I suppose I should clarify. I'm not leaving. I just want to hover 10 feet over these things so that I can shoot them but they can't touch me. I still intend to ransack that sleigh.

Good thing you clarified, because I definitely thought you were leaving.

You fly up ten feet, dumping the dead weight off your chest, and startling the dog holding your arm enough that he let's go. You take your position, and blow the armholder in the head, and he vanishes. The next shot goes into the deadweight, a total miss, and the last shot scars a backside.

And then four of the five remaining dogs (one is still biting at his backside) rise into the air and attack.

The first goes for your left leg and you swing it clear, but that just makes it easier for the next to clamp on to your right knee. The next soars past you, and then the last comes right at your face, and opens his jaw, and opens his jaw some more, and some more to expand to the size of your body, and you see his jaw bend over backwards on both top and bottom, and he eats himself from the back of his jaw to the end of his tail. And then he vanished with a pop.

So there's 3 dogs left? Three dogs, six bullets in the 357. Let's hope they're enough.

(Doing Therapy)

Five. Just because you knocked one over doesn't mean it did not get up again.

You see among the attacking hounds those you had thought had quit, and their fervor and intensity as they try to eat you is disturbing.

One grabs your other leg on the calf and shakes it wildly. One bounces off your chest doing little damage. The last goes for your throat, and you have to throw up your left arm to protect yourself.

So it bites your left hand.

The big magnum bucks twice, and one of the dogs is simply gone.

Psionic healing. I've taken a few licks in this fight. Gotta get back to snuff.

Keep shooting. I want that horn.

I'm staying mobile whilst in flight. My objective is to stay far enough away from them so that I can shoot them but they can't get close enough to me to do anything. The primary advantage of a ranged weapon is, after all, that you can keep your enemy away.

(Doing Therapy)

You start to heal, and you scoot away from them, but the dogs pursue closely. The Huntsman yells, and the hounds all attack your gun hand. It makes it easy for you to kill them as they bite on to your gun, but the as the first one disintegrates, the backlash damages your hand. You kill the second one the same way, but it takes just long enough for your gun to be ripped loose from your hand, and so when you fire, it spins free.

Two are left, your gun hand is burnt and mangled. You're fifty feet in the air, and the Huntsman is whipping his horses as he goes down the street.

Did I drop the 9mm pistol too? I think I still have that. If so, reload it. If I dropped, I'll scriff back to it. Fly after that Huntsman. Don't stop for the 357. I'll scriff back to it. Pull out the 9mm carbine from my pack. Psionically heal my hand whilst chasing. Try to kill the hounds, but if not, just stay away from them. Fire at the carriage with the 9mm carbine. It's set on semi-auto. Currently loaded with a 15, has 8 30 rounders strapped to it. I want to crash that thing, so I'm aiming at the horses. Or if I can hit him, all the better. I'll teach that prick what happens when you piss off an immortal with an attitude problem and a bunch of weapons.

Only shoot at the horses if I can't get a clear shot at him.

(Doing Therapy)

You have the Nine MM, and as you start to reload and fly toward the Huntsman, the dogs attack again.

Do you have a spare clip? I think you do.

The Huntsman lurches skyward and pulls an Immelmann Turn so that he comes straight back at you. It seems he was merely building speed to launch, and he had no intention of running. He and you are closing rapidly, and most of his body is shielded by the horses.

Edit.

Do you have a spare clip? I think you do.

Yeah, I've got 6 spare 15s

Switch the carbine to full auto, 15 round clip, and spray the carriage. Horses, him, whatever. Reload with a 30 and do it again.

What's that carriage made out of? Would it be something highly combustible? I might just fire a flare at him and set his carriage on fire.

(Doing Therapy)

Two

Strike that. Use the 9mm carbine semi auto on the two hounds, then fire a shotgun flare at the carriage. THEN reload the carbine with a 30 and spray at the carriage, which should now be on fire.

(Doing Therapy)

Three

Just to make this clear as mud. Pull out the 9mm carbine, set on semi-auto. Dispatch the two hounds chasing me. Sling the rifle, pull out the shotgun. Shoot a flare at the carriage. My hope is that it is made from something very flammable. I want to light that thing up like a Christmas tree. Then, take the 9mm carbine, load it with a 30 round clip (Strapped to it) and fire full auto at the carriage and empty the clip. I'll shoot horses, I'll shoot him, I'm fully prepared to make Swiss Cheese out of that thing. If I crash it in a flaming wreck, all the better.

I WANT THAT HORN!!!!!!!!!!!

(Doing Therapy)

A dog darts forward to bite you before you get your 10 mm carbine out of its sheathe, and again, you see the extremely weird phenomeon of the dog's mouth opening wide, and it eating its own self in reverse.

Sickened a bit, you fire...and misfire. You've got a bullet in the barrel.

The dog bites your foot ripping into it (this is not protected except by your shoe.)

You stow the carbine, and get out the shotgun.

Your shot hits between the horses, and catches the front of the sleigh into a wall of flame. The horses do not seem bothered.

A flame tipped whip comes out, snaking for your neck, and comes out a foot short, but enough that when it snaps, sparks fly into your face.

The sleigh thunders past you as the erect Huntsman tries to veer the sleigh so that it runs into you. But he misses.

bump.

Not the 10mm that I picked up here. The 9mm carbine that I had. The 10mm is probably back at Joel's house. This is a 9mm rifle. Uses the same magazines as the pistol. Has 3 settings, semi auto, triburst and full auto. That's the rifle I'm pulling out. It's got a 30 round clip.

The dog bites your foot ripping into it (this is not protected except by your shoe.)

This is true, but I would like to point out that I'm wearing ankle high nylon combat boots which will stop a knife attack.

Stow the shotgun and cap those dogs with the 9mm pistol, reloaded with a 15 round clip.

I'm still accepting that my gun jammed, (The 9mm rifle) so clear the jam, put it on full auto fire (Which should be a new use and take me to 2@1) and empty the 30 round clip into that sleigh. It's on fire, I'm aiming at horses, I'm aiming at him. I want to turn that thing into Swiss Cheese. If I can bring it down in a flaming wreck, that will do me just fine. This guy needs to learn. You don't mess with heavily-armed versers.

The sleigh thunders past you as the erect Huntsman tries to veer the sleigh so that it runs into you. But he misses.

Standing order. If he tries that again, raise a psionic force shield and let him crash into it.

OK. Your boot is seriously damaged to some extent, and your foot hurts, but not like the hound is about to chew it off.

You shoot, miss, the hound bites into your foot deep, and you clip it in the shoulder. It lets go, and falls away toward the ground.

It takes you a few tens of seconds to clear the jam in the 9 MM rifle, and when you look up to hose down the Huntsman, he's just slung his sleigh around the corner of a five story building at the third story level.

It looks like he might be fleeing.

It looks like he might be fleeing.

"Oh no you stoned brained son of a biscuit eater. You ain't getting away that easily."

Maintain pursuit. If/when I catch him, hose down his sleigh with 9mm rifle fire. I'm gonna give this guy a really fast education. Was the sleigh still on fire?

bump

Yes, it was still on fire.

You dive around the corner, and see the Huntsman coming out of a fishhook curve, and heading in your direction. He's a little off, heading higher and steeper than he should, but he flattens out his course.

You open fire, and slaughter his horses, and raise your psi shield, and he slows as his motive force is gone, but he's still got momentum, and so he crashes into you, into your shield, and it bends, and then shatters. Dead horses on fire crash into you, and the air is so cold that it hurts your lungs.

You see him, and he grimaces, and grabs you by the arm.

Both of you plummet in a cloud of ice fog, and burning sleigh as you fire into him, and he tries to break your arm, and succeeds.

You land in a pile of snow. Nearly every bone felt like its broken with the three story fall.

He is laying across from you, and you see the sleigh, the horn, and the nightmares evaporate. He's still there. He's not moving.

bump

Psionic Healing (I've gotten a lot of new uses. What am I up to?)

Assuming that works, get up, kick this jerk square in the head. A soccer ball kick. I was on the soccer team in high school. Low professional soccer ball kicking, if it matters.

"You didn't really think you could take me on, did you?"

Shoot him in the noggin with my 9mm, fly back to the spot where I engaged him before and retrieve the 357 and anything else I dropped, and head back to Joel's house.

Two

Firing that 9mm carbine on full auto was a new use. That should take me from 1@10+3 to 2@1.

You heal quickly. You see him healing too, but slower. You kick him in his helmetted head, and rock his head back a bit.

A rider on a black stallion approaches. His hands are held up, ostentatiously empty. You can see a sword belted at his hip. He looks very tall, and very thin. His hair is down to his waist under his helmet, and over his black silk.

You're desperately cold standing next to the Huntsman even though its a warm night. But you're standing in a foot of snow, although a hundred yards away, fireflies flicker. Still, its not killing cold, not yet.

2@1 ok.

I also said to shoot the Huntsman after I kicked him. I want him TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WILL EMPTY THE CLIP INTO HIM!!!!!! I'VE HAD IT WITH HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reload, keep the 9mm trained on the guy on the horse.

"You want a piece of me too @#%WIPE???"

To be clear, I'm using the 9mm pistol. Saying "9mm" refers to the pistol, unless I specify the rifle.

You empty it into the Huntsman. He's a mangled mass.

"Oh no, not me. Anyone who can take down the Huntsman is not someone I wish to take on." He sounds sincere and bows. "May I get off my horse? I come to offer some help, but if you don't want it, I will leave."

You notice that the Huntsman seems to be slowly healing.

OOC: We'll just make it simple. A comet hit an asteroid and unleashed a bit of magical radiation. Any time you try to swear, you find yourself singing nursery rhymes. This is a body change so it works in worlds with low magic. :)

"DOESN'T THIS THING EVER DIE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Tell you what dude. If you can dispatch this, what did you call him? Huntsman? I'll be grateful for a really long time."

(Doing Therapy)

He pulls out his sword, and offers it hilt first to you with a small smile.

"The Wild Huntsmen is a cursed human with great power. Even the knights of faerie walk wide around him. But, a faerie knight's blade if it severs his head from his shoulders will do the trick of ending this man's life. Your weapons are formidable, but they are not magical, and this needs magic. Or you could eat his heart...Either way, same thing. But the sword is less....icky."

He gives you a dazzling smile as he laughs. You're aware he's probably elfen. There is an inhuman grace and polish about him.

"I shall cleave thee in two you traitorous turnip!!!!"

Take the sword, swing it down, and hack this $&#%$%'s head off.

Turn to the other guy

"So, why did he come after me in the first place?"

Also, search the corpse (Let's hope it IS a corpse now) Take anything he has.

The head is lopped off, and you feel bone-piercing cold invade your bones. The other guy smiles as you drop to your knees, and he takes the sword from your nerveless hands.

"Because, John, I pointed out to him that you were alone. After you killed my Redcap, I looked into your situation. Still not sure what you are. Some sort of Hero. But I've been paid good gold by the Michiganders to make sure the war does not start by causing trouble to the Iriquois, who I hate for my own reasons."

You hit the ground, and feel as if you'd been dipped in liquid helium.

"The Wild Huntsman, by his nature, must hunt those who are alone, separated from human or other society. You're possibly the most alone person on this planet. And you were in my way. And bonus..."

You see the sleigh, the horses, the horn rematerialize. No dogs do though.

"I get to steal the Huntsman's weapons. Very powerful ones too. When others ask how you came to this sad state, tell them that Dionchadd Daffyd of House Blackthorn, Knight of the Unseelie Court, bested you."

You're on the verge of blacking out so cold you are that you can't even remember what it felt like to be warm. And you see the armor on the Huntsman has been melting, and is flowing over you while his body disintegrates.

"D-d-d-dude, I-I-I-I c-c-c-c-couldn't c-c-c-c-care less about your war. K-k-k-kill me. I-i-i-if you d-d-d-d-don't, I'll g-g-g-g-get you when I'm out of this."

Pray for God to protect me from this. Time factor is however long I've got to live, or change, or whatever is about to happen. Thinking in my mind the whole time.

"God, protect me from harm." chanted over and over silently.

Lowest bias magic which will meet that specification. I'm not being specific. Probably too cold to think straight.

(Doing Therapy)

I'm imagining myself so cold I'm unable to move, hence praying instead of shooting. If I can move, I do have a fragmentation grenade in my pocket. Going out with a bang DOES sound like a good way to do it. If I can move well enough to do it, get the grenade, pull the pin, and drop it next to myself. Five seconds later, I'll be in the next world, and this bozo will be in the morgue. And if he isn't, it isn't my problem anymore. If I can't move, keep praying.

Now that I think about it, I think the trench coat would probably protect me (mostly) from a grenade blast. Try to drop it so that it's away from my head. I might survive the blast. Hopefully, it will disorient this jerk so I can put some lead into him. Then, I WILL eat his heart!!!!! That is, if I can move to get the grenade out at all.

Oh yeah, and is Alfen a bastardization of Elfen?

(Doing Therapy)

"No you will not because I am connected to the Unseelie Court. You cannot Hunt me." He laughs.

You pray, but you can feel the great weight of magic resisting.

You try to move, but can't. You try again, and fish the grenade out of your pocket, but then it flops out of your cold numbed fingers.

"You are a determined fellow." Dionchadd says backing up to safe range and he begins to get the sleigh moving.

OOC: Yes.

"No you will not because I am connected to the Unseelie Court. You cannot Hunt me." He laughs.

"Pluck Ewe!!! We'll see about that."

Psionic flight. Magic is resisted. Hover, get out of range, shoot him. If that's not possible, I'll settle for getting away.

(Doing Therapy)

You're on the verge of blacking out so cold you are that you can't even remember what it felt like to be warm. And you see the armor on the Huntsman has been melting, and is flowing over you while his body disintegrates.

Oh, I'm turning into the Huntsman.

(Doing Therapy)

You fly into the air, and pass out. You wake the next night. You're cold, very cold, but alive. However, you're covered head to toe in a black, shiny armor.

There are people on the street, but they don't seem to notice you. The evil knight is gone. So is your sleigh, etc..

You notice one man walking along the street. He's got a book in his hand, and the look of someone without too many friends.

Alone. Hunt him.

You hear the words, and you feel cold seep into you deeper.

There are people on the street, but they don't seem to notice you. The evil knight is gone. So is your sleigh, etc..

What DO I have? Am I still wearing the backpack? Where is my stuff? Scriff sense?

You hear the words, and you feel cold seep into you deeper.

Lauren taught me a psionic trick that would warm up objects by thought. Warm up the armor I'm wearing. (New Use?) If it's just a matter of "Hunt or freeze" then I can try to keep myself warm by other means until I can figure out a way out of this. Then I don't freeze, so no need to hunt.

If I can stay warm (and thus, not need to hunt) try to go see Smoking Hill. If anyone can get me out of this, I have a feeling it would be him.
