*three backstab attacks, on the second tree, the first two weak, second, not so much, but the tree is still up and kicking and takes a swing at you hitting you hard in the chest and you go flying and hit a non ambulatory tree, and get dazed for quite awhile*
((12 intensities total on the tree, between 3 attacks, 8 intensities of damage from the hit, 2 from the impact, and 24 is a failed stamina check, and you go nighty nighty))
Ok... as soon as possible I'll get up and back into style, try for the momentum again and jump back in.
*You are dazed for the rest of the fight, the trees do tremendous damage, but hit slow, you seem to feel better after every series of attacks, and you note Cass and Jennah should be dead from the hits they are taking, but they seem worse for wear, but not dead, the fight goes 4 more rounds as the three of them finish off the trees*
((Many attack rolls, Trees dead, Healing aura heals everyone up to full after the battle is over))
*They walk up to you*
*Jennah remarks*
"Well at least you didn't splatter when you hit the tree, would have spoiled the armor."
*she grins*
"Yeah... sorry about that." How humiliating, to lose face in our first battle together. I climb to my feet as soon as I'm able, and say, "These things are my possessions. I doubt there's much of interest there to any of you anyway." I hadn't really considered before where I would keep all these guns, but the katana is going at my hip my my left side dagger. If any of them argue that this stuff is treasure and not mine, I'll state for them the contents of the suitcase. If they still want to argue, "Do whatever you want, then." But I'm not giving up ownership.
*Jennah looks at the possessions*
"I don't think any of us would want those things, aside from the sword, but since it doesn't look enchanted, it's a moot point, as ours are probably better."
*Geli looks a bit insulted*
"I don't know what you think of us other than being pretty, but we aren't petty about items. If you say they are yours, they are yours, but don't be patronizing about what we would find of interest and what we wouldn't"
*Cass is trying to be mediator and change the subject*
"Looks like they have some silvanwood branches."
((38 Persuasion roll, failure))
"I just didn't want you to think that with every single thing we find, I'll be saying, 'Oh, that's mine, I left it here.' There is the matter of the contract we have, after all. Sorry for the offense." At this point, the safety of the guns is the most important thing... so I'll try to put them in the bag. I'll take out some of the clothes if the guns and ammo won't fit. Out with the food and water, and, "Anyone hungry? We may as well take a break. I don't have a lot of food, but you're welcome to it. I don't really need it and it's taking up space, but I'd rather if it was eaten than thrown out." I believe I have a can of corn but no can opener, three bags of rame noodles and three bottles of water. Whatever we want to eat now is good, anything we don't want now is staying here. I'm going to start a course for back to the city, "Some of these things are are of particular value to me, and I'd like to keep them some place safe where they won't be exposed to the elements."
*They look at you and sighs*
"It's your mission I guess." *Jennah says*
*they also find 4 ruby red jewels in each corpse, as they pack up and walk back to Denerim with you, it is a quiet uneventful trip*
((GE Roll 15))
Ok, everything back to my sleeping quarters were hopefully it won't be disturbed. As long as we've still got a few hours of light left, we'll head back out in the same direction; if they'd rather stay here we'll head out come morning.
*You stow your gear, and head down to the mess hall, you find Geli and Cass, but not Jennah*
*They are eating dinner, Cass pipes up*
"I think we are going to be heading out in the morning, Jennah will be erm, indisposed till then."
"Well, I'm glad she's enjoying herself. I certainly won't mind another night of comfort. Who knows when we'll be getting another." I'll eat some food and talk, mostly with Cass but generally to try to avoid leaving Gelidrasil out, showing more care in my manners than with Seith as I'm in the company of ladies. I'll ask about their families and their histories and their boyfriends and their favorite possessions.
*Cass speaks up first*
"I really don't remember my parents, I was taken by the chantry at age 5, and sent to the Tower of Mages. I probably would still be there now if it wasn't for the right of conscription, but now, I will likely be branded an apostate. Luckily the last Warden who defeated the blight was technically an apostate, so we aren't hunted with zeal anymore. They reserve that for blood mages and abominations mostly now. I had a few trists with the mages at the tower, but no serious boyfriend to speak of."
*Geli says*
"I am an elf, we don't, I guess the best way to say this is "breed" as quick as humans. I do have a brother and a sister, but separated by twenty years. I was born in the Dalish Clans, and am not a city elf by nature, but being in my profession, you have to learn to like population centers. I have a betrothed back in my camp, but since they won't be back for awhile, I don't dwell."
*Cass winks*
"Seems your talk of Seith, brought them back together for the 5th or 6th time, I forget how many. They really do belong together, I think your talk about him almost dying getting you is both fueling her dislike of you, and her feelings for him."
*Geli speaks up*
"Speaking of getting together, I would appreciate if you two either would or wouldn't, being in limbo and having to travel between you too is troublesome."
*Cass blushes*
I'm... hesitant. I like Cass and all, but... well, the best thing to do is voice my concern. "I'm not really... human. Well, I mean, I am, but not really; I said earlier, my kind don't fear death. It's still very new to me, but I'm never going to get any older in appearance than I am now, and if I die I'll be going to another universe with all of my things. If that's alright with you, Cass, I would be honored if we could take our friendship to the next level and be exclusive with one another; if you aren't sure right now, that's fine; and if you definitely don't want to be with someone who will not grow old with you, I understand completely."
These
posts
were
from
my pocket. Not too sure what happened there.
((Now Kyler I have to enforce the same rules I did with John with the multiple postings :P ))
*she looks at you up and down*
"Well you have potential, but not tonight, you haven't even bought me dinner yet."
*she smiles and eats a piece of cheese, like what you just said doesn't phase her in the least*
(yeah, sorry about that. even if you're joking it's still irritating for both of us to have the wide space there. it's a shame I can't just delete them.) Yeah, I'm poor, but there's nothing new. It's kind of a relief to have asked, even being rejected; now I don't have any further concern about it for a while, so I laugh the rejection off good-naturedly and say to Gelidrasil, "Limbo is over, we aren't getting together tonight. So, you are betrothed? Was that by choice, or is that customary of your society?"
*Geli responds*
"Arranged marriage, but I perfer women to men as mates."
*she smiles*
Wow. Hot. Suddenly I find myself thinking of the three of them in a totally different light, and I'm sure my pupils involuntarily react accordingly. "I'll drink to that," and I cleanse my palate with a swig of mead. "Any ideas for where we should go tomorrow? I'm looking for something in particular, but I don't really have any leads as to where it might be, so if any of you had any particular place you wanted to explore or run for treasure or what have you, I'm very open to suggestion."
*Cass brightens up*
"There was a big battle hundreds of years ago at Ostrigar, probably something there now."
*Geli says*
"Also the Karcari Wilds are there, either or should provide adventure"
"Sounds excellent." Idle talk should fill the rest of the time before we go our seperate ways, and then it's time to sleep, unless it isn't, in which case I'll do some simple yoga and exercise until it is. A shower would be nice too.
*They look at you quizzically about what a shower is, when you explain it to them*
*Cass says*
"Like constant rain, just in one area?"
*Geli says*
"Why not wait till it's raining out, or just draw a bath?"
ah. no showers. I knew that, of course. I'll bathe, then. I hate baths, they're so unsanitary.
*They bring in a tub and fill it with hot water from a cauldron, and what passes for soap and towels, it's a relaxing bath*
*Your soaking there in the nice hot tub, when you feel a dagger slice your throat, you move at the last second, but it's still a grievous wound, but not on the juggler, what do you do?*
((GE Roll 24, not good, Intuition check 32, even worse. Assassination roll: 43, 8 intensities of damage))
What do I do? Really? Well, I'm bleeding from my -- what's another word for; that is, I'm naked and bleeding from my neck, and what would you do, sir? I'll jump up in my birthday suit and dive for my weapons, though I don't really expect to survive this encounter.
*He leaps after you and swipes with his daggers, missing you completely, you dive for your weapons and I am going to assume roll to get into style and attack*
*you swipe with both of your daggers, hitting him solidly, he is rethinking his career as an assassin slightly*
((81 for him, miss, 17 to get into style, made it, 25 attack roll, hit 5 intensities, +4 for both of them being imbued with fire, so 9 total))
*continuing the attack, or other actions?*
((hm... I have two daggers, one is dangerous, the other damaging. +dc for style should bring it up to dangerous and lethal. I see you've got that, I think, but Dragon Rogue is also +30 for purposes of damage calculation according to the initial specs, so damage should be 6 at minimum with a lethal weapon if I'm recalling correctly. of course my enemy may have damage category penalties or point reductions I'm unaware of, so I'll keep it down.)) Continuing combat.
((Yes you do, but in multiverser, you can have two daggers, but only as one attack, so we are going for the dangerous and +1 DC for Lethal, and you do get the +30 for damage, his armor is giving him protections, so I am cancelling all of his plusses and yours *you want this* to make my math easier.))
*He lunges at you, nicking you with the daggers doing one more intensity of damage, and you lunge back, nicking him with yours but yours having more of an effect than his*
*You are looking bad, he is looking worse, but he looks determined to stay regardless of what happens*
((04 1 Intensity to Kyler, 07 1 Intensity +4 fire intensities to total 5 for the assassin. GE Roll 20, to see if he stays or goes))
((hahaha. well, in light of our present conversation on the side, I should mention that I'm at a severe disadvantage since I've been ambushed and am naked, so will not mind if you give him and I our respective bonuses and penalties, even if it means I can't possibly touch him.)) I'm not running; it's do or verse time now, punk.
(well, it seems to have taken a little bump, but here we are. page six.)
((Well he is the exact same as you, a rogue assassin, dualist, so the bonus and penalties cancel out))
*he leaps at you and tries to sink the daggers into your flank, and you sidestep him and plunge yours into his eyes, he is quite dead and sinking to the floor*
*you hear people coming from the commotion*
((Him:96 miss, you 54 hit, 10+4 intensties, he is dead, lucky dice))
ok. umm... I hear people coming? I'll put on my pants.
*The door busts open and you see several armored men, a few women, and some of your party members*
*Geli snickers*
"If you two wanted to be alone, you should have let us know."
*One of the Grey Wardens looks at him*
"Defiantly one of the Antivian Crows, great we have assassins in Denerim again."
*Cass gives you a healing spell and grins*
"Probably should have let you spend the night with me, I could have protected you from the big bad assassin."
Healing spell is nice, considering that my neck was open. I feel where the wound was for traces of a scar. "Naught but a scratch. I managed to handle this one on my own." I continue to dress myself and say to the Warden, "I should not have come back here so soon. Not to worry, I'll be leaving tomorrow and will not return for what I expect will be quite some time." To Geli and Cass, "Funny, really funny, you guys." and to everyone, "Thank you for coming so quickly. If things had gone differently you may have been able to avenge me." -- actually genuine, not sarcasm, but then can take it however they will.
*No scar that you can tell*
*So where to this time? roads out from Denerium go South to Southwest, and Northwest*
we'll go the way my equipment was and continue past, following the road while I try to feel anything unusual -- I still haven't felt any darkspawn yet, so that's the feeling I'm looking for.
*You head out to the road to the south, after a number of miles, it starts turning more west than south, you see trees, as well as farmland to your right, and a deeper forest to your left, you travel all day without bother, and you find a place to camp for tonight, you did notice there was a forest path to the south near where you are camped, or you can continue down the road*
and still no feeling of any darkspawn... ok, camp for the night, forest path in the morning. During the evening I'll ask the girls about areas with high concentration of darkspawn and where they think the darkspawn are coming from, going for a facial affect of morbid curiosity.
