*groans*
"Bright light, bright light, too little sleep, why for art thou waking me up this early? Ever seen one before?"
*yawns and gets up to check on Victoria, might as well being up, making sure she is taken care of, and get her some food and a kiss on the forehead*
*Will spend the next couple of hours in Alert Rest, before everyone gets up. I will be in a chair*
J
Caity assures you that the sun comes up every morning as if she thinks you didn't know.
Vicky is happy to see you. You kiss her, clean her, change her, dress her, give her breakfast (by this age they're pretty much feeding finger foods to themselves if you break it into small pieces; isn't that marvelous?)
What will you do with Vicky while you rest?
*It's alert rest, so I will give her a three toys to play with, keep her nearby in a playpen? ((It is, only a couple of years till she can take care of normal things herself woot)) While I wait for others to rouse, get up, also interested in Miss Jewels condition today.*
J
Playpen is fine, she plays with the toys happily; you are disturbed once, when Caity ventures too close to her and gets snatched, but you free her and admonish them both.
Jewel is the first to get up. She kisses you on the cheek and says, "Morning, daddy."
She seems in high spirits.
*After talking to both of them*
"Going to have to learn to shapechange if you are going to get close to Vicky, she is at that age, where she is grabby, and doesn't understand how delicate small things are."
*To Jewel*
"Morning Jewel. Any bad effects from your drinking last night young lady? What am I going to do with you?"
*wait for more to wake and start breakfast*
Jewel is smiling, and answers you, "I guess you noticed. Yeah, I drank a little, I guess a lot. I'm glad you aren't mad about it."
Nic is next to wake up, then Tan, then Eria. Val finally wakes up after you've already begun breakfast; she still seems a bit sore from the night before.
*looks at her*
"I am a little mad, I made a concession to let you have a glass, and you went and had a bottle and a half. I am mad because, your a 10 year old girl, and you can die from too much booze. You need about 1/3 as much as a grown man to die, so yes I am mad because I am concerned about you.
*hugs the kids and kisses and hugs Tan, and when Val walks in sore*
*To Tan*
"We need to toughen her up, we should get her to try again, and if she can I will talk to you know who about a new recruit."
*kisses and hugs Val morning*
J
Jewel"s smile hasn't faltered. "I'm glad you're concerned, but you need to lighten up a little. Stifling a girl is no way to show her you care."
"About that," Tan begins, and nudges Val a bit roughly. Val rubs her arm and glances irrtatedly from Tan to you reluctantly.
"I've decided not to learn to change into a man. It seems unnatural to me... it doesn't seem right at all."
*to Jewel*
"Perhaps, on some issues, but this one I am right, there are some things you should just trust me on."
=======================
*Considers what Val has said*
"Well that means we need to train you outside of a place, let me talk to Mark to see about how to create a pocket universe to train in. Either way, you need to get to our level, I think we can agree on that."
*Will make a trip to Mark to explain the situation*
J
"You want me to create a universe?"
Mark looks deep in thought about this idea.
"You know how I love a challenge, but I'm going to need a little more information regarding the universe you want me to create."
"Grins just a small pocket one, maybe 30x30, where time inside doesn't equal time outside every year in there is a minute outside. Just need a training place for someone."
J
"Oh. Well, in that case, all you really need is a room where time is compressed; maybe if I also take into account spatial compression and ..." He starts talking a bunch of technical jargon that makes no sense. You realize he is thinking out loud, and he stops abruptly.
"Give me a week," he tells you. "That should be long enough."
*Smiles*
"That works, gives me a week to get a room with food, bathroom and sleeping areas ready."
*Goes back to the others*
"Talked to Mark, we can do it at home, just need to get a room ready, so let's pack up kids, thank our hosts, and head back, by the time we get back and finish, Mark should be done. In this room everyone can train, so it's a win/win situation."
J
Tan sighs loudly. "Do we have to go back and help the humans? I was hoping we could just let them fend for themselves, maybe move back in with David or stay here..."
*Shrugs*
"You never voiced your objections before. So you two waited till we got married before you started voicing concerns? With the nudging and the pushing before, seems like everything was well rehearsed. I have no problem staying here of Davids, I have no problem not helping, I think I have done my fair share. My only concern are my kids, and enjoying of my time here. Maybe find someone to teach me to play instruments. Tan this world is your home, you decide where we stay, it's only fair."
J
Tan responds to you, "I thought you knew that I didn't really want to help them; they'll either do fine on their own or they'll kill each other of; if it's the latter, the world is better off without 'em anyway. If you want to help them, though... you know I'm with you."
Val says to you, "I'm kind of torn. Helping them is the right thing to do, but recently, it seems like they've been resistant to our best efforts; if they don't want our help, we shouldn't force it on them. If we aren't going to be appreciated for helping them, we probably shouldn't. We've got enough to worry about," she motions surreptitiously to the kids.
*Nods to Val*
"You guys are right, I tried, they don't really want it, and I don't really like them. These kids are the only ones I made an oath to make sure they turned out ok. I didn't know you didn't want to Tan, but there will be worlds, and times that I will want to help, because it is the right thing to do. If it's just these particular people, I understand, they really aren't deserving of it."
*shrugs*
"I have no problem staying here, you have family here, people to reconnect with. I have hobbies and pursuits I would love to do while here, I have a whole bunch of instruments I want to learn, and most of the people here don't rub me the wrong way."
*smiles*
J
When you say "these kids," Jewel snuggles up to you and interrupts, "I'm glad you did."
It's interesting what a bottle and a half of red will do to her.
Tan responds, "Well, there are a lot of Draconians here, and it will be nice to be some place where everybody mostly gets along, at any rate."
Your danger sense is aching dully; it has been since you left Mark's.
*snuggles up to Jewel*
"Well someone had to be there for you guys to show not all adults are ill tempered, abusive, uncaring people who just want to fight everyone else. Well looks like Jewel doesn't get a hangover, just becomes honest with her feelings, it's refreshing."
*rubs his temples*
"I have to go back to see Mark, something isn't right, if I'm not back, something bad happened, don't rush in get someone who can see things from afar to look first."
*Goes back to Mark*
J
Mark is hard at work on the device you asked him for. The danger sense still feels dull and removed.
He looks at a clock on the wall; there are several there that seem to measure different spans of time.
"It's been an hour; only 167 more to go. Or was there something else?"
*Nods*
"Ever since I asked you to start work on this, my danger sense, has been on, it's low and not immediate, but it only started after I asked you to do this. I'm concerned what I asked you to do is going to be very dangerous, maybe should do a diagnostic or something to make sure nothing is amiss?"
J
beep
bop
bump
I responded to this like an hour ago. -.-
§
Mark says, "I always test all of my inventions before they leave. I don't want any bugs or glitches to cause them to malfunction and cause injury."
*I turn my Danger Sense off and then back on to see if it is like the peanut butter glitch or not*
*If it turns out to be a glitch*
"When should I come back, I think the problem was on my end."
*If it is not a glitch*
"It's like a feeling of something is about to happen, but it's dull, like conditions aren't met. Maybe I have something wrong with me, a parasite, or something. Do you have a medical device to scan me for anything being wrong? Maybe it's poison."
((I am owed a bonus then :P ))
J
He drops what he's doing and scans you with a small handheld device.
"No, looks good to me. Maybe it's something else and your coming to speak to me was a coincidence."
*Shrugs*
"Well I have gotten myself checked out, your making sure the device works. I will just go back and see if it gets better or worse. How long should I wait until I come back?"
J
"About a week," Mark responds again, going back to his work. "Depending on whether or not you disrupt me again. I assure you, this is not the first device I've built."
*Grins*
"Forgive me for being worried that something bad was happening to you."
*Head back to everyone*
"Nothing is wrong with me, but I still have that feeling something bad is going to happen, so everyone be on your guard."
J
Tan nods to you. "I trust your feelings."
And time passes.
A little bit at a time, your sense of danger is rising slightly.
*To Tan*
"It's getting worse, I'm going to goto Davids, if it still happens there, it's centered on me, or the world, if not it's magical or psionic and we are going to want to get the kids there. If that means I teleport them into the yard, so be it. I don't like this."
J
Tan nods to you, then responds, "Why not try a place outside of the world and see if it's on you or here somewhere?"
*Nods well I can check well you know where, and see if I feel it there*
*Go to the inbetween and see if I feel it there as well, and try to pinpoint the exact moment I felt it*
J
You travel to the Between.
The danger sense is still present, but feels more dull again.
It seems to have begun around the time Mark began working on the time compression space for you to train in.
*sighs and back to Mark*
"Mark, scrap the project, it started as soon as you started. It is even warning me in another universe. Whatever you are doing to do it, it's going to likely wipe out everything. Maybe you should start again with a different concept of how to do it and see if I get that feeling. I want my daughter to grow up, training in a pocket universe is important, but I am sure how you are going about it will cause an end to everything."
J
Mark sighs and grumbles a bit and acquiesces.
"I'll start fresh. Give me... nine days. I'll need to come up with a fresh concept."
*Nods*
"Thanks, if you can figure out how to do it without harm, that would be an accomplishment for the ages."
*I will keep a close eye on my danger sense in the meantime*
*I am assuming as soon as he agrees to scrap it, it goes back to nothing?*
*Back to Tan and Val*
"I just saved a universe, woot, of course I put it on the course, so I can't take credit."
"So who wants what for breakfast?"
J
He agrees to work on a new project, but your danger sense is still simmering.
*Sighs*
"Still going off, do whatever you were going to do before I asked you to do this, and don't work on it, I want to see if the sense goes away."
J
