He is wondering why you ask.

"Well, this universe has less than oh 10 days left to survive. Nothing can stop it, since you like making bargains. I will give you an offer and a debt in exchange. I have a way to transport you safely to another universe, in exchange, for the one power each of my wives asked for with no drawbacks, and one power for myself no drawbacks. The rock thing was to see if the rock meant anything to you, so it wasn't a real choice. In return, you have my word that I take you to a universe where magic works well, and free you there. I am a man of my word. I just figured everyone get's what they want, I would love to do something that I can't know but a serious drawback just isn't any fun."
*takes out the box fan*
"This is the device that can do what I say, it has another purpose, but if you don't break it on me and let me release you, I can use it again."

He responds to you, "I cannot do what you ask. This rock limits my abilities such that I cannot grant powers without also attaching detriments to them. If the rock is destroyed, however, I can do so at will."
His thoughts are a mirror of his words.
*smiles*
"Let me guess, destroying the rock also frees you to leave here as well correct? If we decide to destroy it, how will we be sure you keep your word?"

He responds to you, "No, unfortunately, I'm simply not strong enough to leave this world on my own."
His thoughts again are confirming his words.
*nods*
"So what is special about this rock, any protections on it? Or is it just something you couldn't do yourself?"

"There aren't any protections on it, no. I'm simply unable to destroy it, because it limits my powers."
Again, his thoughts confirm what he's saying, that this rock prevents him from destroying it, and also prevents him from his full potential to help others by giving them power without cost.
*Considers*
"Before I break it, who here has used it and what are their limitations. Call it my need to know."

"Well," he responds, "How should I know that?"
His thoughts are that there have been so many who came here seeking power, he couldn't possibly answer such a broad scale question.
*smiles*
"Then I should make it easy for you, since this is now a two step bargin, we destroy the stone, all the power it had a hand in given and the detriments are stripped away, and each of us gets one power free of detriments. Before we were just saving you, this way, if the stone is gone, all the powers and stipulations should be gone too."

He responds to you, "Done. Destroy the stone and I will strip all the detriments and powers of every demon I have had a hand in making, and if you save me from the destruction of this world I will grant you whatever powers you desire."
He is thinking about what good fortune he has that you have come here to save him. You lose the link.
*shrugs to Tan and Val*
"Sounds about the fairest deal all around, unless either or you think that it isn't. I have no problem keeping my end of the deal."

Valera says to you, "He seems nice enough... and he must be powerful, to be able to give people omniscience and immortality."
Tan looks suspicious of the man, and says, "I have a bad feeling about him; I don't know why, but something doesn't seem right."
*grins*
"Oh he is a bad man, a demon or devil to be sure. He is also trapped here and knows the universe is going to die. I've also been in his mind and he has been truthful. With that said I know I have been lied to, and no good can come of it. No I have had my fun, everyone that he has granted powers to has been tainted in some way. No I think we will leave him to his fate."
*gets on his zipper and goes*

A wise move. He was using the psionic defense Doublethought to mislead you, but would have fled had you destroyed the rock anchoring him; hence, no sense of danger.

"Tan once you verse, you will be able to do any magics or psionics you want and you can make yourself very fast, Val you know you can heal people with a touch now, you just need the training time. I just wanted to test myself to see if I would go for easy power. I found that there was nothing I wanted, that I cannot achieve myself. Either way, we have some people to say goodbye to. Tan after meeting that demon have you changed your mind about your family? You resisted power, although at a cost, I know you are a good and caring woman underneath your tough exterior, you have showed it to me before."

Tan answers you, "Resisted? There wasn't really any temptation. I'm a sucker for temptation." She winks at you and grins meaningfully.
Val says, "Tan, didn't you agree to apologize to Sefyr? Maybe we should do that before we leave."
Tan looks uncomfortable with the prospect. "Can't we just hope he dies and say oh well too late now?"
*smiles*
"Tan, you know he's probably going to survive, most of the powerful people are, so I will make you a deal. You apologize to Sefyr, I will talk to Grandfather, tell him what is happening, and get him to decide if any of his family including himself should go. Besides yourself, he has been the only one that has been pleasant, helpful, and genuinely cares for others. I figure, it takes the choice out of your lap, and I trust his judgment on matters."
*smiles*
"As for the temptation, yes I will give you that."
*I don't see how she can disagree, it takes a lot of decisions off her hands, I will see Grandfather.*

She really can't disagree; if she did, you could tell her Grandfather, and everybody knows he can make her cry. She agrees reluctantly to apologize to Sefyr.
Hen Ri sees you come in and wraps up his affairs, then vacates the room.
"Verser Jhiaxus. What brings you here to see me this afternoon? Grave news, no doubt, by your countenance." He locks arms with you, gripping your forearm with his hand in what you take to be an informal gesture of greeting.
*Nods and grips his arm in respect*
"Yes, there is a situation that I cannot fix, though I have tried, pleaded and eventually sought Aegis's help to answer. It is one that no matter what I could or would do the outcome is the same, much as it is against my nature to admit defeat, it angers me to no end. The end of this universe has come, soon. Neither Tan, nor Val or myself feel worthy enough to know who to save other than ourselves, if to make sure these kids grow up. You have been the only person save the few we have told, that has offered us nothing but compassion, hospitality and welcomed us to your home. We all felt, you should have the choice, including yourself if you choose, on who we take with us. We can take all you suggest, it is funny, the person who will doom us all, also gave me the tools before this happened to do this. Tan being Tan, didn't want to choose anyone, I think it is because she doesn't feel the right to, and it would make her make hard choices. I wanted to save her children, and now that it is you and me, her sister. They have all suffered, and if anyone deserves a new start it is them. At any rate, the choices are yours."

In response to your affirmative answer, he says, "Then I am certain to give you the same answer. This will not be the first time I have survived the end of a world; if fate determines this is to be the end of the Ru family, and all Draconia, I will face it gladly, just as my brothers never turned from certain defeat. However...
"Your action is certainly the compassionate and brave one; in your case, to not stand and face the overwhelming odds, and to instead save the women and children, must be a very difficult decision for you; it is the job no warrior wants.
"Since you offer, there is one other I feel should be definitely spared; Rid Ya. Not only has she led a hard life, she is the last remaining summoner of Draconia, and the youngest full-blooded Draconian. Her abilities should be useful to you on your quest."
*Nods and smiles a bit*
"He was the first, he will make sure he and his are safe."
*pauses*
"I suspect many people have the ability to survive this, and I will trust your judgment. I am saddened that it has come to this, and I think I met the being that put the flaw in someone to make this happen. His fate is to be stuck here and die. It is just a feeling, but this demon has likely had his hand in a lot of people's fates. I will go to Rid and get her ready to go. Tan said her kids should survive, or they shouldn't be her kids, so I will trust yours and her judgment.
*pauses again*
"If it were up to me, and only me, I would fight just to try, but having 4 little ones and Tan not a verser. I can't let the little ones stay stuck at the ages they are. You can physically be aged, but emotionally, no, that needs to happen naturally. I don't fault the one who is doing this, they are compelled to do so. It is just a horrible situation all around. As it is to save everyone, I have to tie the rules in knots and jump on them, but it is worth it. I am a better man for having met you Hen Ri, and do not be surprised if someday, if you do not survive this, to be once again. Little Eria is quite the artist."

He claps you on the arm and answers, "One day, we will meet again; of this I am absolutely sure, Jhiaxus."
*Smiles and claps him on the arm*
"Of that I am sure as well, now to talk with Rid, thanks for watching the kids, ok guys *picking up Victoria in the baby pack* "Time to visit Aunt Rid"

"Hello Rid, I talked to grandfather, it's time to pack food, water, clothes and whatever you need to keep the history of the draconians, this universe has an expiration date, and he wanted you to be saved."

Rid opens her mouth as if to make argument, but nothing comes out.
"You should probably shut that unless you want something in it," Tan warns her.
Rid doesn't say anything and quickly packs some things; mostly clothes (it seems she doesn't own a single modest article of clothing), some dried meat in a burlap sack and a canteen. She packs this all into a modest backpack as if this is not the first time this has happened to her, then nods to you.
*To Tan*
"So the question now is, would it be less suspicious if it is just me, walking through, or both of us. There are plusses and minuses, if there are two of us, might have more of a chance to be detained to do you know what, but more of a chance that one of us can do it while the other relocated, or just me, and just go through to our destination?"
*looks at her*
"It's a tough call, and you are more experienced."
*Whatever Tan decides get the children, Val, Rid and their stuff into the pouch, and make sure there is plenty of air that I catch in it before hand.*
"This should only be a couple of days, you have the sleeping bags, no sharp objects or point objects out, they are all confiscated by you and into a bag. Ripping the bag is very bad. I know you can take care of them, and when next we meet, the kids will start a new school, once we get introductions in order. The kids should like it, meeting and training with kids in a structured environment."

Tan tells you, "We both go, we tell Imidge we're taking a leave of absence for our honeymoon, he's jealous, they're all jealous, we're set." She is grinning mischievously.
*smiles and grabs her by the side*
"With good reason, I think we have said goodbye to everyone that needs it. I have a feeling your kids will be fine, as well as most of the powerful people here. Let's go get this over with, and get these kids some structure."
*smiles and heads to the In Between with Tan, to Naruto world, a year after the Nine Tailed Fox attacked the village, gives Victoria the right age for her to learn from the best, the others to be grown up to be good role models, and for us to have an interesting time explaining who we are, why we want to help, and what we can offer*

Shame for that botch on Mark's behalf; he's not a demon, by the way, he's a somethingelse, very very curious by nature and literally can't resist exploring a theory to its complete end.

The appearances of many of the characters you met in this world were originally based off of many characters from video games and other popular sources. If you didn't recognize any, it looks like I did my job properly =P

Anagram: Final Fantasy.
Sefyr, as you know, was clearly Sephiroth. Also from that game were Vincent, as Chase, and Cloud, as Claude.
From predecessors to that game in that series, were Sabin Rene Figaro as David, Rydia of Mist as, well, Rid Ya, and Bahamut as Hen Ri. The ninja Edge's six jutsus, Flame (Shane), Flood, Blitz, Image (Imidge), Smoke, and Pin were all present, but you did not speak with all of them.
From Lunar: The Silver Star Story, Alex of Burg as Alex and Mia Ausa as Mia; I determined the reference so obscure as to not warrant changing their names.
From Chrono Trigger, Janus as himself.
From Shadow of Destiny, Homonculus as the great demon at Demon's Rock.
From Rurouni Kenshin, Kenshin as Ken.
From Akira, Tetsuo as Tatsume.
From Dynasty Warriors, Guan Yu as Seiryu.
I don't think I missed anyone; I believe all other characters were developed by myself. Fizgig Blade Pain Skellie Vize Aegis Mark Nic Jewel Eria Jonny Reim The Mooks Ursana Moon Crescent and I suspect many others.
Of course, there were a lot of people you didn't meet; but that GE roll and meeting Eria that early, + meeting Aegis, +a few beastly an mag checks with Fizgig on top of some good GE rolls, really threw off the story.
Moving the two f's to the last word got me.
Sad as it is to say, I didn't play any of those games, I played FF VII to Rose dying and I quit, I did play and finish the Lunar: The Silver Star Story, but that was close to 13-15 years back. I only watched a few episodes of Rurouni Kenshin, that was when Cartoon Network had a anime saturday. I have Akira, watched it a few times, but that was almost a decade back.
I was wondering why Fizgig revealed herself to me, I would have never guessed or asked had she didn't.
