He certainly seems like he knows what he's doing. "This is your final match," Fizgig tells you. "The last two were a trainee and a novice, but this guy's the real deal."
*nods and pull my sword, look like I am checking the balance, when the blade is aimed at him, shoot it through him with a 2@10 High Velocity Telekinesis P4@4, and pull it back through him with sideways with a 2@10 Telekinesis of Obscured Objects P4@3, if he is still up, will plan my attack at that point, if he comes at me in a rush or I see something I don't like I will 2@10 Disarm weaponless B7@5 and 2@10 Power Punch, B7@3 assuming he gets in range, if he throws something at me, or another aimed ranged attack
2@10 Missile Escape B7@4, and finally if he does a teleport or another movement effect to get close, will have to learn Steal Initiative on the fly, and do the disarm and powerpunch.*

Your roll is 36, his style has a -30 defensive sitmod, so that's a miss with this skill) Your sword flies at him and he nimbly sidesteps it, bringing the blade to bear very quickly in your direction as he does so, then easing it back again to a raised position.

Your sal is.. 1@1? -10 for no material component, +10 total for the vocal components, +10 for full body use (wait... are you dropping your style to do this, or aren't you?). +60 for the TF of 3 seconds; I don't know that you can close the distance and strike him in three seconds, considering that you get ... let's see... expert sal, style multiplier 2, 2@ msv... 6 attacks in a round with the sword? 9? At 6 it's one every ten seconds, it isn't until... it's still not one every three seconds until 20 attacks in the round. Granted, time is stopped, but you'll need to cross the distance to him then strike him. Still intending to do this?

OK -- either it involves full body and you'll have to drop style to use it, or it involves some parts of your body but not all and you don't. A style requires stance, and if you're breaking stance for a round to use a full-body involvement spell, you'll need to get back in style. On the bright side, weapon-dependent styles are activated by a martial arts weapon attack, but if you fail, you will be left vulnerable for remainder of the round without style... Your thoughts, sir.

blah -- did I pocket post? sorry about that!!! OK. rolls. (90 20 4) The stunning strike misses; the paralyzing strike connects, but he resists. Your normal attack practically bounces off of him (4 annihilating, +10 for damage, 2dc penalties, back down to fatal, 2 intensities/3 = no damage.) He swings at you again, missing widely.

The battle continues, with the two of you at a near dead lock; he can't touch you, you can barely touch him, and eventually one of the ninja calls, "That's time, stop now!" He walks out to the two of you and examine's the both of you for a moment, then says, "I haven't seen such a fierce match between two Black Ninja since Fizgig fought Hawkeye to become an Elder. Jhiaxus, Seiryu, you both qualify. Congratulations, and welcome to the ranks of the Elder."
*I will give Seiryu a nod, the ninja who called the fight and all the other Black Ninja there."

Fizgig runs to you and hugs you and kisses you -- almost, but she stops herself and breaks her arms free from you. "That was impressive, Jhiaxus. You even suprised me; I didn't realize that Seiryu was challenging for Elderhood this time, or I might have waited; he's got a reputation. If that went on long enough, he certainly would have lost; you had him and we all knew it, but Imidge" she motions to the ninja who called the fight "knows a good fight when he sees one, which is barely ever."
*hugs and smiles at her after the almost kiss*
"Thanks, I tried a few things at the beginning that were new and unpracticed, then once I realized he wasn't going to go down like a chump, I really couldn't break style. I got him once, but it was a tap. Question is do we stay or do we come out? I leave it up to you? I'm not as good as you, but I'm no slouch anymore."

It's along journey back, but uneventful; and you can't believe you found it difficult the last time by how much easier it is this time. You get back to where you left from, and she cuts open the air and goes through.

"When this is done, and you can go back to Tan, right now it's better for you and me to keep focused, and in this form, you fight better, and I don't have a reason to keep my eyes on you. She is already a ninja, so she might be farther ahead than I was. Anyway, we have to go formulate the plan with the others. Might be a good time to give Chase the people can change speech. Even if he stays neutral when you know who gets involved, it's better than having to attack him."

Fizgig says to you, "The people can change speech will mean very little to him coming from me. Talking too much about our plans where people can hear us is probably not a good idea." He continues much more quietly, concernedly. "Before we take Valera there, you should know; they don't accept women in their ranks as a rule. I'm one exception and there was one other who is one of the Eldest. Some kind of chauvinistic thing if you ask me. They'll almost definitely put a BSM order on her as soon as they see her, regardless of who she's with. If she can hold her own impressively after that they might spare her and let her join like they did for me, but all too often I haven't seen that happen, even with girls I thought defended themselves better than I did when I joined; and if we were to help her, that would make us enemies of the most powerful organization I've ever known. I don't want you to think that I took her there knowing it would probably mean I'd have you all to myself."

Valera tells you that she spent several years as a ninja, learning what amounts to some low professional acrobatics and comba abilities. /// Chase responds, "Got nothin but time for at least a couple weeks. Why, what's up?"

"I just wanted to know where you were starting off at. I have a plan, we just need to get you to the point of being a well rounded verser. I need you to be tougher than I am now, but I know how you are, you love a challange. We will work on things slowly, we have a couple of weeks, perfect time to start your training." *kisses her deeply when no one is looking*
