The prophecy of Kyler

The last thing you remember is charging directly into the mouth of the volcano and an unthinkable heat as you were swallowed by the lava.

You're now coming to, or at least that's the closest way to describing what you're doing. You feel like you're having a very pleasant out of body experience. You aren't able to place any of your feelings to your specific senses or even validate you have senses but you do have feelings. You feel very calm and overall happy. You also feel as if your constantly rotating, although at a slow speed and in no coherent direction.

OK... I sleep

I'm not 100% sure exactly what the stages of fetal development are, so this may not be all that great of a zygote, forgive any errors. (I'm looking to how MJ did John's zygoting for an example, but it's often times hard to learn from John's threads)

You sleep well, with no real concept of time, and you drift in and out of sleep and a semi conscious state on an almost constant basis.

Time's steady march is imperceptible in your world, with only vaguest of feelings possible to you. You do feel as if you are starting to grow however, and gradually feel the presence that tells you that you exist and have a body. This body feels awkward and ever changing however, gradually getting larger, taking in from your surroundings to add to itself.

Eventually when you wake up from another of your frequent naps you find that instead of the darkness that has encompassed this world to date you now see light, and the mute world has been replaced by one of primarily throbbing noises. The light doesn't really take any type of shape and the throbbing noises are only occasionally broken by a mumbled talking sound of what as far as you can tell is 3 distinct voices, 2 womens voices one which is small and trilling and the other rich and vibrant. The third voice is deeper and harder for you to notice sometimes.

(I'm pushing through a lot of this, I'm planning to bring you to birth next post if you don't mind getting through this part. I'm not comfortable with my level of knowledge on this part so I'm looking forward to having you in the world I know.)

Edit:When you're born would you like to stick with the name Kyler in this world or any preference on name? At some point the prefix Bel- will be attached to your name, so that sounding natural always helps. The main characters name was garion and he became Belgarion, you would be Belkyler or Bel____ whatever you want.

I've been educated about this (if I may interrupt) and on Mark's game with Maxx I gave tips to him while he ran it very well. The only thing you really forgot at first thought is something not many people know. The water inside the womb tastes slightly like what mom has been eating. Nothing very definite, but it has a taste.

The important thing for us in the job is that this means that babies have developed taste from in the womb. I'll try to follow along and give tips (if you don't mind), but my work field at the moment is from 3-12 years old, so some things are a bit muddy in my memory.

At some point I've realized what's going on here, and I'm not entirely happy about it. Which voice sounds as if it comes from all around me? Small or rich? My expectation would be that my mother's voice would sound much louder to me and be much harder to place the location of, since it only has to travel through liquid to reach me instead of air then liquid. I will be spending basically every waking minute moving as much as possible while trying to keep myself from getting wrapped up in the umbilical cord (which really is a dead giveaway; I don't care who you are). It's my understanding that I will take an even longer time to get myself where I want to be after Di'Vars's explanation of what has happened to me; however, I am more than a little bit pleased to be able to start from the ground up and begin my physical training from childhood. Hence, I want to be the strongest baby ever born. =P

The small trilling voice seems to be your apparent mother, as you hear it much more frequently and it is louder, as you imply.

You begin to position your self as soon as you feel your body develop arms and legs to facilitate that. You are now in constant motion when not sleeping and your mothers voice seems to be talking to you even more now that you're moving.

One day your lungs suddenly begin to work again, something you hadn't fully realized wasn't working before but now that you're breathing the liquid all around you you can't imagine how you didn't notice.

Your constant movement gradually begins to become harder, as you're now pushing against stretchy wall as oppose to floating freely in liquid. On top of this the walls are very obviously shrinking, giving you less and less room to move.

Then the pushing starts. You initially think something is wrong and are slightly startled. You pick up quickly enough that it must be time for you to be born though, and these are the contractions. You wish they were more comfortable though, they put far too much pressure on your head. Slowly the contractions are rotating you so that your legs are the parts being squeezed and you're a bit more comfortable. At this point your hear what you can now identify as the excited voice of your mother and the rich and vibrant voice that you only heard periodically to this point. That one seems to be very calming and in control.

Your head is slowly push through a very tight opening. You find yourself doubting the wisdom here, but this place is getting smaller and smaller and that's the only exit anyone. You're slowly pushed through and after what seems like an eternity of discomfort in a far to confined place you see blinding light. That is this is the first time you're really seeing light, so it seems blinding to you at first. You're firmly but gently rotated upside down and you feel and see the liquid you've been breathing flush out your mouth and nose.

The lady holding him says
"We've been waiting for you a very very long time little boy, I'm glad you decided to join us."

More resistance is good; it means I have to work harder, which to me says I can get even stronger. Prior to birth, I will do everything I know I should; flip upside down so I'm headfirst towards the canal, try my best to claw and push my way out from the inside to hopefully get through this process as quickly as possible. (I will break through my mother's stomach fully grown with a flying sidekick and announce to the room, "Hi, I'm Chuck Norris." Or not.) I will not scream or cry; I would look at her, but I'm still trying to develop the muscle coordination to not see everything in double vision with blurs everywhere. Practically speaking, not crying means that they can't very well gauge my lung function, but presumably I am healthy enough by their standards. Even if they try to make me cry somehow I will not.

Not going to break through your mother's stomach but the woman delivering you does seem to notice it going smoother than most deliveries.

When you don't cry you feel a faint brush upon your mind, which is gone after a moment.

"You have a stubborn one here Ildera, he's already putting on a tough face. He's healthy though. I must go tell my father he is born, both of us shall be back soon."

With this she hands you over and leaves, allowing who appears to be your father into the room, who rushes over to your mother to look at you.

Ildera says "I think we shall call him Kyler. What do you think Garen darling?"

Garen responds "I think it's a wonderful name, Belgarath would approve. I have a suprise for you both however."

With this he rushes out of your view and you hear some rustling. He then brings in a cradle. It's a very simple cradle, but your father obviously put a lot of thought into making every inch perfect.

Garen says "I worked on this while you were busy. It's nothing special but it'll do."

Your mother smiles, kisses you on the forehead and hands you to your father to put you in the cradle. She seems very tired, even though she is excited.

Your father picks you up and sets you in the cradle, lingering there to play with you a bit and then going to care for your mother.

The cradle you are now in is a simple thing, just wooden bars to hold you in safely with wool blankets carefully arranged to provide comfort however you lay. You note that it is rocking slightly in a very calming motion and you gradually fall in and out of sleep.

GE roll of 13. Just using it to establish a timeline.

A brush against my mind? Interesting. I'm going to try to teach myself to read her mind, using what she just did to me as an example for this if I can. Whether I am successful or not, I will also try this with Ildera. I am trying to be as physically active as possible when awake; being in an infantile state is not the way I want to be, particularly, but it is a good place to start. I will not try to gain attention when hungry or cold or hot; I will, however, eat greedily when fed (it does beg the question, am I being nursed or bottle fed?), and I will scream in a most uncomfortable way when I have soiled myself; not crying, just screaming.

I have a mechanics question then. How does attempting to learn a skill that is actively being countered work? Your mother is under the effects of an amulet to block people messing with her mind while the person delivering you.

You can't seem to figure the trick out.

You're a very active infant. Your father frequently points out how physically strong you are and boasts that you are the strongest baby in all time.

Your mother criticizes him for sounding like a Cherek and he blushes furiously.

Time progresses and you begin to get stronger. You're now crawling all over, and sometimes even let out of your crib in order to do so.

Your father tells you the world is in good hands with someone such as yourself. Your mother promptly shushes him and says to let you just be a little boy.

Shortly after crawling you pick up the walking thing again (I'm not rolling for these because as I see it a baby trying to rush towards being physically active is going to manage it early regardless.)

The night after your accomplishment of finally walking without assistance (you are being an astounding baby and physically the best you can) you are awaken by a worried father who covers your face with the blanket and bundles you tightly.

Before he covers you you see the walls are on fire. Not just the wooden parts, which wouldn't be too much of an issue as you live in a stone cottage your father built, but the stone itself is aflame.

Your handed over to your mother and hear a frenzied pounding.

Your mother says "Hurry Garen, we can't let him die"

He responds irrately "I am! I didn't build this to be taken apart." He's obviously sobbing while doing this.

There's finally a resounding crack and the sound of stone grinding on stone followed by a plopping sound. You're then in a very dark hot space after being told "Make us proud brave Kyler, your Auntie Pol will take care of you."

You then fall suddenly onto the ground, slightly wounded by it, but not burning to death. For the first time in your life you burst out crying.

After what seems like an eternity crying you're scooped up by a familiar woman who hushes you and carries you away.
She speaks to you when out of the clearing your house was in:
"Hush Kyler, we have to get you away from here quickly."
She has tears rolling down her face and her face is frozen in a mix of anger and sadness.

You know that they did it, but you don't know how, so don't really see it as an example. Is there a magic version of mind reading by the way?

Those are both going to be failures however, but not botches.

Difficult willpower check against crying at the loss of parents:
35 (fail)

Difficult willpower check against repressing memory of how parents died:
28 (fail)

Excuse me, but I have never accepted these people as my parents. Their death does have some impact on me, but seeing as I have lost several family members that I did recognize as blood relations without crying, I am going to have to call you on telling me what I feel and how I react to it without someone using a skill make me feel this way. I also argue with the repressing memories by the same logic; this did not have as great an effect on me as you have implicated. I know what I am and I am what I am, a verser; indigenous deaths are terrible but not that bad. I've been zygoted, but my mental faculties are still intact. As to the other question, the answer is likely an RS sitmod penalty against my use of the skill; as for magical mind reading, if there is no ritual involved, there will be a serious penalty to the use of such a skill. No matter, the door is in my mind open now, and I will continue attempting to read the minds of others. After the fire I will go where the event takes me, clearly.

Ok, no problem, no crying and no suppressing of memory. Didn't mean to offend.

I'll set it as a psionic mind reading then, since that's a low enough bias it shouldn't cause me problems with the world.

You're carried for a long time, during which you fall asleep. When you wake up you're in a stone tower with the women who picked you up and an old man.

They're talking about what happened and the man is threatening to do all sorts of unseemly things to a man called Chamdar. He refocuses quickly on the topic of hiding you. A bunch of locations are thrown around, but eventually both the woman and man seem to agree on a place called Sendaria with a man called Faldor.

The woman picks you up again, gives the man a quick kiss on the cheek and departs with you. You're once again travelling quite a distance, this time on horseback.

It takes 3 days to get to the Faldor's farm. When there the woman carrying you straightens her hair quickly and then approaches the farm where a man in a brown tunic and green hose approaches quickly.

"Mistress Pol! How wonderful to see you again. Could you stay for a few days to visit? My dining hall is always open. And who is this adorable youth?"

Pol introduces you to Faldor and asks if she could work in his kitchen and raise you here. He gladly accepts and says she should know better than to have to ask.

He motions for the both of you to follow him at which point Pol puts you down for the first time in a while and leads you by the hand to follow Faldor. Faldor gets you a couple of sets of appropriate sized clothing which are all shades of brown and green and brings you and Pol to a spare room.

I hope everything here is comfortable for you, let me know if you need anything.

He bends down to you:
"So does little Kyler speak yet?"

I'll try; if I fail I'll shake my head. I've been trying to read minds more than tryying to speak, so it won't be too suprising if I can't. // As an aside, I'm not offended; my character is my only link to the game world, though, and my feelings and actions are my only means of change, so I'd rather play myself as I am rather than as a character in a story.

You manage to get out a difficult yes to his question, but just barely.

You also try to read his mind, which you get a hold of for a bit.
He's thinking he's very happy to have Pol around, she's an amazing cook. He's also wondering exactly who you are but also knows not to ask. He has complete and utter respect for Pol.

Going to have you grow up being an active baby and toddler until you're around 5 next post, unless you have something you want to do. At that point though I'm going to have people for you to interact with and get to know.
-----------------------------------------------------
Rolls:
15 for talking, easy success not going to bother with the numbers
11 for mind reading, which is 1@10 intuition - 1@1 target bias so you have +9 there. Psionic in this world are 2@ something, so it just squeaked in there

1@1 Read Minds P 1@1

Good. Now that I know it's possible I'm using it often and trying to get as reliable with it as possible. I will certainly continue doing my best to get strong, fast, and more aware, pushing myself to my limits and doing all that is asked of me. As I have no reason to speak I will not work in that area.

You advance 1 mark every month of practice right?
Going from 1 year (roughly where you were at this point) to 5 years would be 48 marks, but there is going to have to be a doubling in intensity when you hit 2@1 right?

So the first ten of those 48 marks takes you to 2@1, at that point did you have a way of increasing the intensity of your practice to continue improving?

i think one mark a month is far to generous. i'll have to look it up though.

Ok, I'll wait on that then.

I think it's one every certain number of days over a certain number of hours; training by oneself I would say probably 1 intesity over 100 days, or roughly one every three months, until 1@10, at which time my training will have gotten too easy for me, and I'll ramp it up by trying to spend twice as much time on everything and, doing twice as many reps, and doubling the weight I'm trying to lift. Still, it should take 200 days at that rate, or over 6 months. Like I said, I'll have to look it up to be certain, but I'm fairly sure that's closer to the actual numbers.

So the 4 years with progress every 3 months brings you to 2@3 in mind reading (if you have a second method of doubling that other than time, the aspects you gave me were for the physical component.

As you grow up your forced to spend most of your time in your Aunt Pol's kitchen, seldom being allowed out of her sight. There are 3 kids your age on the farm if you wish to spend any time with them. Runorig, Doroon, and Zubrette.

While it's possible to spend time with Doroon or Rundorig without the other it's nigh impossible to spend time around either of them without Zubrette who likes to monopolize attention.

Rundorig is an Arend, a race known for being somewhat slower mentally but with astounding strength. You're easily the strongest Sender (You live in Sendaria, and it is a melting pot of many ethnicities), but even with all your training Rundorig is stronger than you by a decent deal. Part of this is because while the other two are the same age as you Rundorig is two years older but he's also developed beyond his years as part of being an Arend.

Doroon is a sender, and a very quick witted boy even if not so smart. He's the same age as you.

Zubrette is an attractive girl who thrives on attention. She likes to make sure the world is paying attention to her.

On your fifth birthday your Aunt Pol begins to allow you to be outside her watch for a little at a time. A lot of your time is still dedicated to helping her in the kitchen however, with some of the lifting involved in that helping your training along.

I should give you a quick physical description of your 5 year old self. You've got sandy blonde hair, tanned complexion and by this point are starting to develop noticeable muscles. You also have a pure white circle on your hand. It's been their since birth.

So now that your time isn't strictly dedicated to the kitchen who do you want to be around if anyone?

As for your physical attributes I'm going to handle them when you've reached full maturity of when it first becomes important. You're going to be well above what would be expected of your race, but not necessarily above some of the Arend race like Rundorig.

I do have some method for the mind reading, actually; once it has become apparent that it is too easy for me to get better at it, I will do it all the time and very frequently. I will do it several times in normal conversations and the more so when I am not in normal conversations. I am getting at the point where sometimes I respond to someone's thoughts, then tell them that no, I'm not a mind reader, just a people reader. I will spend time with the strong one; Rundorig. I want to push myself to be as strong as he is, therefore he's the best spotting buddy around. I will flirt openly with Zubrette; at her age she won't understand, I'm sure, but once we're older and she thinks back, hahaha. I tell my Aunt Pol that I'd like to learn the art of combat.

As for spotting partners, I think I've failed to communicate the farm properly. There is the farm to work, the kitchen to work in, and the dining hall to eat. It's a very simple life.

You can get stronger by roughhousing with Rundorig, or Doroon for that matter. Doroon is a better tactical fighter, just weaker. While Rundorig charges into everything.

Zubrette is flirtatious even at this age, as it's her primary method of getting all you boys to pay more attention to her.

Aunt Pol laughs slightly when you suggest wanting to learn the art of combat and assures you you'd be much better spending your time helping her in the kitchen. You have plenty of time to be a grown up later. You've still been completely unable to read you Aunt Pol's mind.

Your roughhousing with Rundorig tends to end one of two ways. About 70% of the time he wins through sheer force, and the other 30% of the time you win because he gets distracted by a comment Doroon makes. He often laughs and claps you solidly on the back when you win.

This goes on over the years, you're slowly growing stronger, but so is Rundorig. Zubrette likes to think you her champion, partially because you know exactly what to say to her at the right time.

Doroon focuses on making everyone laugh, as he wins only about 10% of the fights he's in.

On your eight birthday Zubrette runs up to you after a particularly spectacular come back in a fight with Rundorig. She jumps up and kisses you on the lips and then runs off quickly into the barn nearby.

---------------------------------------
GE roll for combat training 18, way too high (There is no real military in Sendaria, it's by far the least violent part of the world)

You're now up to 2@9 mind reading. Still no success on Pol however.

Intuition check:18 Strong success. You noticed your Aunt Pol seems to notice that you are reading peoples minds. She tends to smirk at this.

Triple post mishap

Edit: Triple post mishap

Ok, you did post. hee. So, I'm on a farm; I get that. Farms have heavy things on them, heavy things mean heavy lifting, and I don't have to focus all of my time doing heavy lifting on work; I'm sure that on a farm I can find something heavy to serve in the place of weights, and for that, it will be safe to have a spotter. Farms have wide open spaces, wide open spaces mean lots of room to run; with my other two friends, racing shouldn't be too hard to come by.

When my Aunt Pol tells me she will not have me learning combat because I am a child, I will breach the taboo subject that we never speak of and say, "Have you forgotten how my parents died? I haven't. If you won't find a way for me to learn combat skills, I will find a way myself."

I have the example of Tae Kwon Do, but that's not quite along the lines I was thinking. I have witnessed several martial arts styles and also taken brief part in classes for hapkido, karate, judo, kung fu, and kumdo to name a few; I have a wide general knowledge of what makes a martial art, so I want to teach one to my body. I want it to be fast and defensive, and primarily use grapples to use my opponent's weight, momentum, and center of gravity against them, along with small joint manipulation. I should have no shortage of time to learn this style with all the mock combat situations I'll be in between eight and five. I'd also like to develop an evasive tumbling skill, as well as a skill to cause my opponent to move in such a way when trying to attack me that they injure themself. The style bias is B7@1, the others I'm not sure off the top of my head.

When Zurbette runs away, I should have little trouble running and sliding to a stop in front of her, at which point I will try to brace myself and catch her in my arms, and tell her sympathetically and quietly, "You can't just kiss someone and run away; it's rude." edit: evasive tumbling is 7@4, baseline is a fixed sit-mod of -10. cause auto-injury is 7@8, baseline is basic damage of the style and requires 2 attacks to achieve, a non targeted attack.

You can do heavy lifting with random objects, but I really don't see you ever convincing an 8 year old to sit around spotting for you, he'd much rather just brawl or run around.

When my Aunt Pol tells me she will not have me learning combat because I am a child, I will breach the taboo subject that we never speak of and say, "Have you forgotten how my parents died? I haven't. If you won't find a way for me to learn combat skills, I will find a way myself."

Aunt Pol's eyes flash from her normal deep blue to a steely grey, but her voice remains the same as ever. "Kyler! You will have plenty of time to learn how to defend yourself, right now your best defense is being ordinary and not drawing attention."
With that she shoos you off.

You do notice however that your presence is being demanded in the kitchen much more often now, often times when you're just starting to practice your combat skills. You're still improving at your combat skills, just very slowly.

You manage to catch Zubrette easily enough, she's not actually running so much as skipping over to the barn. She giggles as you catch her and blushes as you reprimand her.
---------------------------
roll for learning combat style was 7, which I can't possibly see as a failure, so 1@1.
I've never made one before so if you want to make one in line with what you described that's fine.

Are you attempting to earn the fighting skills while brawling with Rundorig or Doroon or without opponent?

roll on evasive tumbling 67: not going to make it
roll on evasive tumbling 2 : 1@1 evasive tumbling, -10 fixed sitmod 7@4
roll on cause auto injury 53: nope
69
8: Got it, 1@1 cause auto injury, basic damage of style, 2 attacks, non targeted 7@8

They'll all be going up very slowly, so you're 1@4 when you're brawling with Rundorig and Zubrette kisses you.

The style will be Kyler-do, rf 2, -15 defensive SM, -10 defensive damage mod.

I can see getting a hyperactive 5 year old to spot me, because I'm spotting him second; it's a game, who can lift more weight.

I will apologize to Pol for popping off at the mouth with her about my parents, but continue pressing her. "You're the one who delivered me, aren't you? I remember everything, so I'm sure you must understand how frustrating all this is for me. I understand that I am somehow special, and I am certain it has something to do with my parents' murder, but you clearly don't want to tell me what it is about me; not only that, you seem to be trying to interfere with my desire to learn to defend myself. My dear Aunt Pol. You will not stop me; if I were to leave this place, it would be counterproductive to both our ends. That is not an option, but I will teach myself these things whether you try to stop me or not."

Ok, you raise a valid point with the spotting. Whenever you do that however Zubrette's mood will sour. She won't be getting enough attention and she can't claim that the fight is in her name.

Pol responds:
"My dear dear Kyler, you must understand, to defend yourself in that way is only going to ask for trouble. You will be taught all you need to know, but for now we have to make sure the other prophecy never finds us. You are very special, and you will not be leaving my side."

There is a tranquil voice that pops into your head:
You know if you wouldn't fight your Aunt so much you'd eventually see her side. There are many people looking for you right now and your childishness is getting in the way. If you agree to be easier on your dear Aunt Pol I'll arrange for someone to adequately train you within 3 Erastides (it's an annually holiday in Sendaria, one has just passed)

-------------------------
The voice in your head isn't me using a lousy GM spoof and you notice it's not Pol. As soon as he talks you notice you've been sharing a small section of your mind with this silent fellow all your life in this world.

I make sure to let Zurbette know we're trying to make ourselves stronger so we can fight a battle truly worthy of her favor.

Interesting! A voice in my head! I'll do as it says for now -- well, mostly. I won't give up my martial arts self-instruction, but I will stop harrassing Pol.

Your self-instruction goes smoothly enough, it is being impeded by the fact you do have to help Pol in the kitchen a lot, not quite as much as when she was actually trying to impede you training however.

Zubrette finds your reasoning acceptable.

One day when you're running around you notice a man on horseback on a hill. Just the black outline of the man actually, as the sun is directly behind him. Now that you think about it you've seen this man on the outskirts of your vision many times and he's always had the sun at his back. After having that thought and looking back he's suddenly gone.

After noticing this the first time you notice it frequently during brawls and while running around, less so while lifting weights.

One day an old rough looking man wanders onto the farm. He's greeted fondly by Faldor and Pol seems to know him well too. This is the old man Pol took you to after your parents died. He looks like a vagabond now, although he didn't look particularly well kept before.

Pol greets:
"It's been quite a long time old wolf, up to your normal antics?"

He responds;
"Just taking in the sights of the world"
Pol:"I notice you've already taken in the wonders of my kitchen today" (he's managed to steal some food from the kitchen which he's casually eating and procured a tankard of ale.
Wolf:"I can never pass up the cupboards of your kitchen Pol." said with a smirk.

Faldor asks Wolf to stay for dinner and regale the farm with a story in celebration of his visit. Wolf agrees, goes through dinner telling many short ordinary stories, although all are exceptional stories as far as storytelling goes.

After dinner however everyone gathers round for his main story.

Wolf tells the story of the making of the world, where the 8 gods drew together and made all the races of the world, and then chose a race for each of them.

Torak claimed the Angaraks to the east.
Belar claimed the Alorns to the north.
Chaldan claimed the proud Arends of the midlands.
Issa claimed the Nyissans, the serpent people.
Mara claimed the Marags (description wasn't really given)
Nedra claimed the Tolnedrans, imperial merchants.
UL claimed no one but was given the Ulgo, all that weren't claimed by the others.
Aldur claimed none, but accepted the desciples of magic as his own.

He then branches into the story of the Orb of Aldur.
Aldur, having no race to watch over, watched over magic. During the many eons that the gods wandered the world Aldur took up a stone, and willed it to be alive and brimming with magic. This stone was given immense power, and this power made Aldur's brother Torak jealous. Torak took the orb from his brother Aldur, who had no recourse as he was unwilling to fight his own flesh and blood. (all the gods are related brothers/sisters)
Torak then ran back to his land of Angaraks with the Orb of Aldur.

The armies of the west (all non Angaraks) muster their forces and move to invade in an attempt to retrieve the sacred orb. Torak in his desperation to save his own people and keep the orb uses the orbs power to split the world, allowing the great seas to rush in between the lands of the east and west. The orb however did not approve of this, and lashed back at Torak, burning his beautiful face, searing half of it to a disfigured heap and burning out one eye. Torak screamed a horrific scream and cast down the orb, ordering it to be sealed in a casket.

Belgarath, first disciple of Aldur, went to the King of Cherek and requested his aid in retrieving the orb. The king, his three sons, and Belgarath thus departed to retrieve the orb. Upon reaching the orb Belgarath announced he could not touch the orb, as the orb had been slighted and now would only allow those with no ill intent in their heart to touch it ever again, lest they be burned like Torak was. The kings youngest son Riva however simply walked up and picked up the orb. The orb glowed a bright blue warmth as it accepted Riva as it's keeper, and signified it's acceptance by branding a bright white orb unto it's keepers hand.

They then quickly retreated from the land of the Angaraks back to the Cherek. There Belgarath told the King of Cherek that he must split his land, in order to protect the orb better. While the king was hesitant he saw the wisdom in Belgaraths words and split up his land and sons. What was once a unified alorn land became the Drasnians against the border to the east, in order to spy upon the Angaraks, Cherek in the north, in order to control the seas by warboat, and the Rivans in the far isles of the winds, in order to be best protected.

That's the end of the story Wolf tells, upon which Faldor gives a standing ovation and tells you all that you should note this day, as you have all just been gifted with a story oft saved for the ears of kings.

Read the mind of te mysterious stranger in the sun.

In the kitchen, upon first meeting him, I say to Wolf, "Hey, I remember you. Done any of those unspeakable things to Chamdar yet?"

After his story is over, I say, "I kind of have a story, too. I've noticed that almost every day while we're outside playing there's some pervert on horseback standing with his back to the sun so that I can't make out exactly what he looks like just watching us."

I want to try to get Wolf alone somewhere so that I can talk to him.

bump!

bump! sorry, sometimes when I post and it makes a new page it doesn't show up without a bump or two.

or three.

You don't manage to get a hold of the strangers mind, you can't even seem to locate his mind.

Wolf smiles at you and then turns to Pol:
"He's a quick one, have you started his training yet?"

Edit: I completely forgot to type Pol's response.
"Not yet, I'm focusing on keeping him safe. Plus I figured we should both be present for the bulk of the training."

After his story is over, I say, "I kind of have a story, too. I've noticed that almost every day while we're outside playing there's some pervert on horseback standing with his back to the sun so that I can't make out exactly what he looks like just watching us."

I need some advice here mechanically. The stranger is using magic to stop you from being able to speak about him. Any idea what that would fall under? I'd like it to be magic as opposed to psionic.

Is He Now!!! Well, I'm going to try to work around this! I'll say, "But for some reason, I'm not able to talk about it. If anyone's got paper, I'll draw a picture." Is that acceptable?

That works.

Wolf pulls out a piece of parchment and charcoal and hands it to you.

Wolf immediately turn to Pol
"There's a Murgo nearby?" His words are accusatory.

Pol responds by asking you how many times you've seen him and when you tell her she takes the hand with your birthmark and brings it to her forehead, to a white lock of hair. (she's got raven black hair minus the one completely white lock in the front.

You feel a momentary rushing sound, like that of a shallow river and she says "Be clear" and you now seem to be able to speak of this stranger.

Pol turns to Wolf: "Do you think it prudent to move him? It's still rather early, and even with him watching over we should be safe for a time being. He will want the glory for himself and won't be willing to involve others."

Wolf:"Yes, but lets be careful about him, don't want to let him know he's right."

"We may end up starting out journey early, I'll talk to Silk and Barak soon enough."

Wolf leaves the next morning, and life returns to normal for a long time.

It is approaching the third Erastide after the voice in your head spoke to you, and you're 11 now.

Wolf is around for Erastide, and regales everyone with stories over dinner. After dinner Pol and you are in the kitchen, cleaning up afterwards and Wolf comes in.

"Kyler could you excuse your aunt and I?"

Pol turns to you
"Run along and gather some firewood, the pile is getting low."

39 on art roll, that passes regardless of how good you are at art.

Era's tide. I get it. Firewood, huh. Whatever. Going. edit; sighs on the way out. "Yeah, alright. You guys can stop treating me like a child any day now, thanks."

I should mention you know that the origin of Erastide is the day the gods created all man. I think I forgot to mention that.

You gather firewood easily enough, and on the way back you see a man sneaking around outside the door of the kitchen with his ear pressed to the crack. You identify him as one of the servants Brill.

I don't know who the servants Brill are, but I'm going to drop my firewood and say very loudly, "What in the hell do you think you're doing?"
