As of about 6 minutes ago, it is November 19th, 2010. This is a very special day for me. It is the five year anniversary of my last full-blown psychotic episode. Please raise a glass of whatever it is you happen to be drinking, in salute of this milestone in my life.

HAPPY LAST PSYCHOTIC EPISODE DAY EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!

You better believe I'm

(Doing Therapy)

CONGRATULATIONS! :D

Last year, Nikolaj said that 5 years was a jubilee celebration. Well, let it be!!!!!!!

(Doing Therapy)

(Blueberry Crowns)

Wow, John, well done. I'll dip into the mead to celebrate that.

I'll be sure to do a couple shots in your honor as soon as I get home, congrats.

As a side note, I'm waiting on previews for harry potter to begin. Today is a good day for so many reasons.

Here, here (raises a dollar mega-cup of Coca-cola from Mickey D's in honor of the occasion).

Whatever you're drinking, even if it's water.

It's 3 am. Twas about this time of night, I was screaming obscenities for hours on end. For the last time.

Well, I already finished my coffee and keep forgetting to refill it, so it's Barq's Root Beer, the only commonly available root beer that is caffeinated, still my drug of choice.

Although if someone were to offer me a bit of mead I would probably taste it just to say that I had and to know what it's like. I don't expect to like it. After all, alcohol tastes like poison--which it is, of course, so that's to be expected. I had a girlfriend in college who kept trying to find an alcoholic beverage I would enjoy, but I never found one that didn't taste like alcohol and didn't see much point in the pursuit, particularly as I also disliked the effects. I don't even like rum cake--can't abide the flavor.

Oh--I would only taste the mead if I didn't have to drive anywhere anytime soon.

I'm going to give away one of E. R. Jones' secrets which I've probably revealed before. He had a reputation for being a brilliant referee. He confided that they would get together for a weekend of gaming on Friday night, and he would start drinking coffee, and everyone else would start drinking beer, and by Sunday afternoon they all thought he was brilliant.

Yeah, which of those two drugs is more likely to appeal to me? (Oh, and I think that THC probably also falls in the same category as far as dulling the brain. No thank you, John.)

Congratulations, John. May the peace continue.

(Oh, and I think that THC probably also falls in the same category as far as dulling the brain. No thank you, John.)

Hardly. If anything, it accelerates your thought processes. I think you would probably like it. Why you would want to deprive yourself of one of God's finest creations is beyond me.

Actually, they are some pretty compelling arguments for THC.

One is that it is neither an upper nor a downer, nor is it a hallucinogen. Experts are at a bit of a loss for how to classify it, but there are many authors who partake because they feel it increases their creativity. There are two different classifications of the chemical/breeds of the plant, indicas, indigenous to Asia, the drug the Vietnam vets used, and... well, the other name eludes me at this time, the one more readily available, but the one affects the mind primarily and the other affects the mind to less an extent but also has a negative affect on coordination (the stats we refer to as Hand/Eye and Agility). Clearly, the one which affects the mind only is more sought after, but is largely unavailable in this country because the plants are much larger (7 - 9 feet tall, so you can't really grow it in a basement; harder generally to keep it hidden).

Another is that they have determined ways to administer it without smoking it. Pill form (Marinol is a drug administered as an appetite stimulant, No lie) and steam form (Superheat the plant in water in a special device, vaporizing it, and inhale the steam) are the popular ones; THC is not a carcinogen in and of itself, but many of the chemicals in smoke are. Thus, this is a non-carcinogenic way to access the chemical.

Also, there are no known physical withdraw symptoms, and the only recorded psychological withdraw symptoms are similar to those when breaking any bad habit. Thus, it is not classified as a chemically addictive substance.

To conclude, being as it is the holiday season,

DON'T MESS WITH THE NUTMEG. IT ISN'T WORTH IT.

MJ can't partake even if he wanted to, John.

Asthma.

There was a documentary called "Super High Me." A guy went cold turkey from THC for a month, and had doctors examine him. He then stayed stoned 24 hours a day for the next 30 days, and had the same doctors examine him. Among the more notable effects, he scored 50 points higher on the SAT whilst high.

It affects everyone differently. Some psychotics, it lowers their psychosis. For me, it ignites the psychosis. It certainly does help creativity. Puts your mind into overdrive.

Kyler, perhaps you should make MJ some brownies....

I haven't been to visit MJ since May 2009, John.

All the more reason to do so. Make up a batch of brownies, his depression will be gone, he'll feel better than he ever has, and never really understand why.

1. If I had the opportunity to visit him, I wouldn't need a scheme like that to convince me to do it. Living from day to day is rough enough without trying to finance a six hour trip to visit and figure out how to work it in around my work schedule.

2. I'm certainly not a bogart, but I would never secretly drug someone without their explicit prior okay. I wouldn't want someone putting coke in my weed, na'mean?

3. I'm clean for nearly two years, holmes. Not to say I don't have access; it's the kind of thing you can never get away from in that respect. Just saying. I haven't used it since 12/08.

I'm also just going to throw out there that not everyone gets happier when high, in a good deal of people it intensifies their emotions as opposed to making them overall happier.

Just saying I'm not sure saying that it would take away his depression is really firmly grounded.

My father died when I was 6. I find people who refuse to visit a living father to be disturbing.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I really do think MJ should give it a try. It's one of God's finest creations. Why do you want to deprive yourself of that?

That's your prerogative holmes.

Well, it IS used to treat depression. It's also used to treat psychosis. Usually people using it for psychosis are balanced such that it lowers their psychosis. For me, it puts it into overdrive. I figured out a way to use that to cure the psychosis. Five years with no episodes, I must be doing something right.

Personally speaking, it always mellowed me out and made me feel chill. Sometimes it also got me a bit on the goofy side, but I would say that mainly, it made me feel level and calm.

With this particular drug, though, everything is "personally speaking". I once read a professional opinion on the steps that need to occur for a person to smoke hemp regularly.

1. They need to recognize a different feeling after smoking it. Some people feel no difference.

2. They need to attribute this different feeling to the THC. Again, some people do not.

3. They need to recognize this feeling as being something good that they would like to experience again. If they find it "scary" or "uncomfortable" they will not try it again, and will stop at one time.

If there's a problem with any of the steps, the person will not continue using the drug (as it is not chemically addictive, they will not be "driven" to continue as with alcohol, cocaine, or opiates).

1. They need to recognize a different feeling after smoking it. Some people feel no difference.

I've been told that most people don't get high the first time they smoke it. I didn't. I'll never forget the SECOND time I smoked it though.....

Hunh. That doesn't quite mesh with my recollection. I don't really remember any time as being specifically wow; I do recall that as time wore on it became more fun for me as I grew more accustomed to the impaired balance and confident with myself, but I can recall several times in the beginning, more so the bad than the good early on; when a friend of mine had a pipe that turned out to be made of plastic without either of our knowledge and I got some of the fumes from it as it melted and ended up hyperventilating (note, I initially viewed the pipe while sober and believed that it was made from aluminum foil); when another friend tried to persuade me to smoke wet, which is marijuana that has been soaked in embalming fluid, which I declined; when another friend tried to persuade me to smoke crack, which I declined as well; when I deemed that I was unable to walk down a flight of stairs because of my lack of balance, so did not attempt to;

People say it impairs judgement, but based on my memory, my judgement seemed fine. It might be more accurate to hypothesize that most people who break the law by using THC already have an impaired sense of judgement, which is then further strained by their peer group.

I've heard of Wet. I don't think I would try it.

As far as some times being better than others, a friend of mine wanted to try Mary Jane. First time, he didn't get high. SECOND TIME!!! He said "I'm swimming....... In a sea of..... Tie-dyed....... T shirts!!!!!!" (You would actually have to have been there to get the full effect of that.)

Did you know you can smoke Catnip? It's decent.

NUTS!!!!! It's after midnight. I was hoping to post this as November 19th drew to a close. Oh well.

The last psychostic episode I had was actually induced deliberately. I wanted to make a recording of the episode to give to my doctor. I induced the episode deliberately to record. I only know the date because it was, coincidentally, the last episode I ever had. The recordings are date-stamped November 19, 2005. I began developing my therapy shortly thereafter. All-natural therapy, from God's own creations.

I find it unlikely Kyler could slip MJ anything in brownies now that you put it here, anyway. Anyway, about the effect of THC:

What Kyler said. He beat me to it. That is all.

Looks like I absolutely missed an earlier post here, one suggesting that I'm disturbing.

I have a two year old daughter (as of Aquarius in 2011), a girlfriend I'm engaged to, and a full-time job that doesn't pay as well as it might. Would I like to visit him? Yeah. Of course. Is it reasonable to take a two year old on a three hour car ride there and a three hour car ride back? Not really. Have I got the money to do it? Unfortunately, no.

Am I disturbing? Probably, but not because I wouldn't like to visit my father.

John:

My father died when I was 6. I find people who refuse to visit a living father to be disturbing.

Kyler:

Looks like I absolutely missed an earlier post here, one suggesting that I'm disturbing.

There's a difference between being unable to visit, and being unwilling to visit. I find unwilling to visit to be disturbing. Apparently that doesn't apply to you.

Nah, it doesn't, but it was still open to misinterpretation since it was essentially a direct response to a statement I had made.

it was still open to misinterpretation

Not really. I said I find people who refuse to visit to be disturbing. Refusal is a conscious choice, not something you do because of happenstance.

doublepost

I explained in the course of that sentence why it might be open to misinterpretation.

Yeah, it did sound as if John was saying that Kyler was avoiding me. I've been to see him a couple times in that time--partly because while it is almost three hours from here, it's only about forty minutes or so farther than where his brother attends school, and I've had to make that trip a few times in the past few years. That's not so common now, as the brother is now in graduate school and has managed to replace his car.

I'm thinking about what to get him for Christmas. Actually, I've thought of more things to get him for Christmas than I ought to get, simply for budget reasons, but at least I'm still thinking. There's also the problem that this year he is easy to buy for, and he has four brothers who pose more difficult challenges--not to mention that I also have to think of what to get his fiance and daughter while remembering that there are at least three other girls (one a daughter-in-law) who will have to be remembered.

--M. J. Young

Ha, you've got it easy this year. We're trying to figure out what to get you without getting you "more dice" =P

Last year, I got him a stopwatch. I can't believe nobody else thought of that.......

(Doing Therapy)

I believe I may have gotten him a waffle maker. =p

Q: "How did Helen Keller's parents punish her?"
A; "Make her read the waffle iron."
