I turned on BuddyPress. If you go to the GO home page, you should see it running. The forum system built into it is setup a little differently from bbPress. First, to get to the NEW forums, click the "Forums" tab at the of the BuddyPress site. To get to the OLD forum (i.e., the breaking-down one I'm typing this in now), use the "Discussion Forums" tab. (If we decide to keep this, I'll change the labels to make that a little less confusing.) (And I don't know at this point if there's a way to import the old messages into the new setup. If we decide to keep BuddyPress, I'll look into it.)
Okay, so now forums are associate with groups. If you go to the Groups tab (http://gamingoutpost.com/groups/) you can create a group for, say, Multiverser. When that's done, you'll automatically have a forum for Multiverser, too. You can get to that forum by EITHER going to the Multiverser group page OR clicking the "Forums" tab.
There's a ton of new functionality now -- including private messages -- that you guys will have to play with.
Let's try this out for a week or so and see how we like it.
I am trying it out, but the problem is, if people never sign in to the main page, I would have to add them as friends in order to invite them, but of course, it is a public group. The question is should each GM make their own thread?
And for what's it's worth, if you want to post new articles/blogs, just hit the "Your Account" tab on the far right.

I did a small-scale stress test. It seemed to work okay. In the event that we're all satisfied, I'd be inclined to remove the ability to make new posts on these forums and relabel them to "Old Forums", unless anyone has major objections. We'd then want to sticky a notice and link to the old forums for anyone who has http://gamingoutpost.com/discussions bookmarked.
I have an objection to removing the ability to post here and making is simply the archive at this point.
MJ is continuing games here until they have a natural breaking point, so this section has to stay active until all current game threads are no longer active.
So far, I've not noticed anything different, except that I get a completely different type of error message when the post doesn't take like it's supposed to. Am I doing something wrong?

You can keep playing over here, but you might want to migrate to the new software whenever you'd normally make a new thread or possibly earlier.
I'll get around to moving when I get a round tuit.
We're still checking the new software for bugs and quirks. It's not perfect, of course, and the question is whether it solves more problems than it creates. We've noticed a few things--no coding that indents text (blockquote, list)--and a problem with Spammers creating their own groups of which they are the administrators, but we're working on this.
If it works, we'll move all the games over there; if it doesn't, we'll move them all back here and look for another solution.
