although there probably should have been a moment when Lelach asked you to prove to Morani that you could communicate telepathically

If that is the case, then I will practice my telepathy with both of my parents.

How long do you intend to maintain it

Does this mean that it need some of my concentration to maintain it or can I activate the force wall and let it be there until it runs out without paying any attention to it?

If I can do something else without paying attention (or diverting my attention) to the force wall then I probably do something else.
The skill that I am thinking is density vision with four minutes of concentration.

will you keep using it for however long it runs

Can I feel something if the force wall duration is about to end?

Can I chain this skill effectively or do I feel that it will become harder the next time?

If I can chain this skill effectively then I have a few things on my mind:
1) Can I chain this skill to change its shape?
2) Can I chain this skill to change its location or angle?
3) Can I chain this skill to change its relative position (fixed to what object)?

Morani is uncomfortable with your telepathic ability, even though you practice it with him periodically. I'm sure you can suggest a reason why it is good that you can do this.

I am treating this particular force object as a "low concentration" skill; it does not have to withstand attacks of any sort, for example. This means that you can engage in other activities including other psionic activities without concentrating on maintaining it--sort of like chewing gum, you have to do it, but it doesn't interfere with your ability to walk or play the piano or anything. It will lapse after a period based on the die roll (unless you renew it before that--same rules, yes you can tell), or you can stop doing it sooner.

I will allow that on successful skill checks you can change the shape of the object within the parameters of the skill definition, change its position, and change its relative location. However, it specifically functions as a support for you to walk, and is thus roughly at shoulder height relative to some surface on which you could in theory walk. (I won't object to it being parallel to the trunk of a tree that is at an angle, even if that angle is perpendicular to the ground, although it does not have hand grips so that's an application you won't use for a rather long time.) It also must be within reach, although you can determine which direction the extended part leads. It must be a "bar" in some sense, although I would not object to a ring with a twelve inch circumference.

Usually there are separate rolls for changing the effect and extending the time, but it makes sense that if you change the parameters with a successful roll that would extend the time, the new extended time will toll from that change, whereas if you make a change with a roll that would not last as long as the current remaining time it would not shorten the remaining time. (Did that make sense?)

--M. J. Young

I'm sure you can suggest a reason why it is good that you can do this.

"Practice makes me more skilled at this. This way I can even contact you during emergency or when you are away. I could also communicate to you better with this," I told Morani in one of the telepathy practice session.

It will lapse after a period based on the die roll (unless you renew it before that--same rules, yes you can tell)

How long does the skill activates until it felt like it will deactivate for this first time?

However, it specifically functions as a support for you to walk, and is thus roughly at shoulder height relative to some surface on which you could in theory walk. It also must be within reach, although you can determine which direction the extended part leads. It must be a "bar" in some sense, although I would not object to a ring with a twelve inch circumference.

That is rather an interesting limitation. I wonder if doing this skill in mid air will be a new use or something. I also wonder if I do something out of the limitation but it is still a force wall of some sort, will it be a new use or a new skill.

I will renew (chain) the skill again when the time is about to end and experiment with a few shapes and angles to see if I can make a U shape bar (which the upper bar is at shoulder height and the lower bar is at foot height) that can support all my weight (like walking on the lower bar and holding the upper part as a support).
I would also like the bar to have a flat surface especially for the lower bar to make walking on it easier.
If I can do this, will the bar itself become the surface that I could in theory walk?
If that is true, can I extend it upwards at small degree so I can steadily walk in mid air?
If I can do the above, I will extend it upwards until it is as high as a height a child sprite could jump safely (in case that I fell down) then arc it back down so I can walk back down.

1) Can other beings (living or non-living) touch this bar or is it just for me?
2) Can I feel (or know) the exact location (including shape or length) of the bar?
I will probably try an acrobatic move on this "bar" in the future.

When the force bar is still active, I will try to concentrate for 4 minutes and then try density vision to see if there are any difference to the density of the air or something at (or around) the location of the force bar.

Morani is satisfied with that reasoning, even though the telepathy still makes him uncomfortable.

This first time you managed to activate the force wall for something just over an hour. You are able to shape it as described; but the body tasks you suggest are rather complicated for a child who cannot yet walk unsupported. If you are intending to attempt to walk on what is in essence a balance beam, we can make the attempt. I will want to know whether you have any experience yourself with this, and what skill level you would claim for it, because your ability in your other body could serve as an example for a similar ability in this body.

I'm not certain how you intend to determine whether the bar is perceived as solid by others. You do have a sense of where the bar is, although it is not perfect--that is, you are attempting to correlate a non-sensory positional impression with your actions, and so it's a bit like you were walking on a balance beam whose length and direction are known to you with your eyes closed.

I am not certain what skill you are using to evaluate the density of the air. It might be one of these four, but you seem to be confusing information from two of them:

  1. 1@2 Analyze Chemistry by Visual Perception of Molecular Structure in Slow Motion P9@1 (light not essential) 30:00 preparatory concentration, can be focused to observe quark level instead (separate use) +59SM
  2. 1@2 Analyze Chemistry to Diagram View P9@1 after concentrating for 20:00 extend both hands toward object to be analyzed, closing eyes, displays molecular diagram view of material targeted, user can specify distance but density of targeted material can be a limiting factor, Maximum depth in inches equals relative success divided by one tenth density, +39SM
  3. 1@1 Analyze Chemistry by Spectroscopic Imaging P9@1 allows user to perceive all energies emanating or reflecting from all materials in view as color bars which can be sorted to identify materials and energy levels, following 4:00 preparation, an intellect check may be necessary to interpret the information, +30SM
  4. 1@1 Analyze Chemistry by Clairvoyant Perception of Molecular Structure in Slow Motion P9@2 (light not essential) 30:00 preparatory concentration, can be focused to observe quark level instead (separate use) +49SM
Obviously the second is the one that might give information about density, while the third uses the two-minute prep time.

Or it might be that you are creating a new skill for this purpose.

--M. J. Young

It might make Morani uncomfortable for a while, but sooner or later he might actually like (or at least content to) it.
Talking about telepathy makes me remember about mental frequency.
I wonder if I have already auto-tag the mental frequency of the elders.
I will probably try mental simulation in the future.

I have walk on an elevated beam along the road before and I sometime did it with my eyes close just to test my balance (this is of course done when the road is not busy). I find what I am doing now is considerably easier because it is supported balance beam which I could just walk sideways and let my body weight be supported by both of my hands on the upper bar. I will then inch my way bit by bit by feeling the extended part of the bar then moving accordingly.

I'm not certain how you intend to determine whether the bar is perceived as solid by others.

Try to put leaves on the bar to see if it stays afloat (if the bar surface is flat), the falling motion change in any way (if the surface is not flat) or it just pass through the bar (if the bar is not solid to things other than myself).

If the bar are solid to the leaves then I will try the density vision to check if the bar have any density compared to the air around it and if the bar is really compressed air of some sort (or something else entirely).

Or it might be that you are creating a new skill for this purpose.

This should be the seventh approach of chemistry analysis but as you can see I have skip two approaches because the seventh approach is needed at the moment. This is a new skill created by using the example from the second (for density) and third approach (for vision) but more to the third approach because the third approach can also see the lower layer element that can pass through the upper layer. This vision is however focused to the information about the density of the object and is somehow similar to "x-ray vision".

I will quote my action just to be on the safe side:

When the force bar is still active, I will try to concentrate for 4 minutes and then try density vision to see if there are any difference to the density of the air or something at (or around) the location of the force bar.

I'll grant that you probably tagged at least one or two of the elders by this time, since you're constantly tagging everyone and everything.

You are unable to lift yourself onto the bar to walk on it; it is not the fault in the bar but in your physical abilities to this point.

Leaves are supported by the bar as if suspended in air.

For the density vision, your intention is to concentrate for four minutes, then focus your eyes at a spot which might be hidden behind or inside some other material, so as to see the density of the matter present at that location. Is this a correct description of the details of this skill?

--M. J. Young

Leaves are supported by the bar as if suspended in air.

So the bar is perceived as a solid object by the leaves.

For the density vision, your intention is to concentrate for four minutes, then focus your eyes at a spot which might be hidden behind or inside some other material, so as to see the density of the matter present at that location.

I would say that it cannot be controlled to see at a certain depth but the power of penetration would depend on the skill current power (skill roll). This skill vision range is the same angle as the normal eye vision range and gives information of the density of the object it sees in black and white just like how x-ray is represented. If there a larger less dense object put in front of a smaller denser object, the vision would see a gray area (the area of the larger object) that have a white area (the area of the smaller object) in the middle of it.

I will quote my action just to be on the safe side:

When the force bar is still active, I will try to concentrate for 4 minutes and then try density vision to see if there are any difference to the density of the air or something at (or around) the location of the force bar.

You are unable to lift yourself onto the bar to walk on it; it is not the fault in the bar but in your physical abilities to this point.

I will try this again the next day (until I succeed or something else happens) because if I cannot even do this then walking unsupported would probably be harder in the future.

Your effort to create a density detecting vision by that method does not work at this time.

You also fail again to walk on the bar the next day, although you do not have any trouble creating it and maintaining it for three quarters of an hour.

--M. J. Young

When the force bar is still active (the next day), try the density vision (with the same amount of concentration) again.

I will practice walking with the bar as a support and sometime try to walk without support at short moment to give myself more confidence to walk unsupported. I will remember the way my muscle move if I succeed in walking unsupported in that short interval.

*****

I will try walking on the force bar again once a day for a week until I succeed or something else happens.

Your effort to detect the density of the air at the point of the force object again fails. However, you do manage to walk on the lower part of the bar while holding the upper part. It takes a lot of focus to put your feet where you want them--you realize that when you are walking on the ground you have a rather wide stance, and balancing over a narrow stance is very challenging--but you've just gotten a bit better at this.

--M. J. Young

balance beam whose length and direction are known to you with your eyes closed.

What is the length for the bar extension for these conditions:
1) Straight bar (something just over an hour)
2) U-shape upper bar length (three quarters of an hour)
3) U-shape overall length that includes upper, lower and its connection (three quarters of an hour)

you do manage to walk on the lower part of the bar while holding the upper part.

"Yay! I'm floating", I thought to myself as I walk across the arch-like bar then back across it. This way I will use my hands alternately to support my weight thus training both hands. I will also practice to walk by sidestepping and using both of my hands to support my weight (which would be much easier).

*****

I will make a force bar (with the usual 16 minutes of concentration) then try the density vision (with 4 minutes of concentration) again once a day for a week until I succeed or something else happens.

If I succeed, I will look around to see if I could spot anything (preferably living things) that is hidden after I have finished looking at the force bar or the area around it.

What is the length for the bar extension for these conditions:
1) Straight bar (something just over an hour)
2) U-shape upper bar length (three quarters of an hour)
3) U-shape overall length that includes upper, lower and its connection (three quarters of an hour)

  1. About twelve steps, of your steps.
  2. about four steps, of your steps.
  3. About twelve of your steps.
It would take you about twelve steps to walk the full height of your father's body, were he lying down straight. Is that sufficient?

You succeed the next day both in creating the bar and in perceiving density of the air--which is not altered at the position of the bar. It appears that the force wall is not composed of matter nor of dense physical particles, but of some sort of force that has no reality in the material sense.

You maintain the vision for about two minutes, and manage in that time to see a butterfly flutter by. Its density is comparable to your own, perhaps a bit greater.

--M. J. Young

--M. J. Young

So the overall length of the bar seems to be a constant (which is about 12 steps of my steps). I wonder if this length will become longer when I have longer steps so I will keep this in mind for future reference.

My height is about 4 steps of my steps if I get my calculation and my facts right.

It appears that the force wall is not composed of matter nor of dense physical particles, but of some sort of force that has no reality in the material sense.

I have guessed that the force bar does not have some sort of density which is why I am observing the interaction of the force bar with the objects around it.
Would it be possible to see some sort of dust or water vapor gathering on top of the force bar?

Does the force bar vibrate in any way when I step on it?
Do I hear any sound when I knock on the force bar?
Is the force bar a good sound conductor?

I wonder why the force bar is transparent.
If it is like glass then the light would be slowed down a little but because the force bar is not composed of matter I wonder why it does not block out light too.
I also remember about the unreachable shimmering force wall some time back and wonder why it shimmer while this force bar is transparent.
I wonder if I can change the color of my force bar so I will think of the color brown (like the color of the nearby tree) and try to change the color of the force bar.
I will also try change the shape to create a hollow force bar where I can put something inside the bar at the end (such as dirt or leaves) then blowing it inside.

I will also try my density vision again (with the usual 4 minutes of concentration) to look at myself or other living things to see how the inner part moves when doing something.

I wonder if I have any time left to develop new skills for this month.

Would it be possible to see some sort of dust or water vapor gathering on top of the force bar?

My impression is that dust can settle on it, but condensation would require that the object have temperature distinct from the air around it, which it does not.

Does the force bar vibrate in any way when I step on it?

This one I can answer: the force bar seems fixed in its position, and if it vibrates from your barefooted steps you cannot detect this.

Do I hear any sound when I knock on the force bar?
Is the force bar a good sound conductor?

These questions require increasing the definition of the object some, that is, I don't have fixed answers so it will depend on the roll of a die; that roll would be a general effects roll, and thus would tell me the answer relative to your preferences. Thus with these questions (and with questions like this, in the sense that the answer might not be known) it can only be answered if I understand your preference in the matter.

If you have no preference, I'll rethink the answer.

You have no trouble creating the force wall of any color. Your mother is distracted by her chores and does not notice it. However, this skill creates a bar; if you wish to create a hollow container, that will require developing a new skill.

You examine your bones and to a lesser degree your muscles (whose density is not much different from your skin, although it changes very slightly when tensed or relaxed. You also manage to catch sight of a few insects, whose density presents different problems as they are very dense on the outside making observation of the inside less reliable.

I agree that we have done a lot this month and should probably wrap up the month for the next one, once we have settled our thoughts on the present ones.

--M. J. Young

I will practice the density vision to look at various objects.
I wonder if I tag an insect that is hidden from normal sight but is visible from density vision, what skill did I use?
Did I use the usual tagging skill or the hidden tagging skill?

*****

condensation would require that the object have temperature distinct from the air around it, which it does not.

Thank you for mentioning about temperature. That just gives me an idea for future experimentation (which is can the bar be frozen or set aflame).

If you have no preference, I'll rethink the answer.

My preference would be any logical answer which would relate to the skill previous definition and experimentation. This means the answer for the knocking sound and good conductor (for sound or temperature) should probably relate about it being fixed, does not have distinct temperature from its surrounding and hard to detect vibration even when barefooted.

However, this skill creates a bar; if you wish to create a hollow container, that will require developing a new skill.

What I meant is to create a hollow bar which I think is still in the definition of a bar unless it is not?

although I would not object to a ring with a twelve inch circumference.

If I could create a ring, I wonder why I could not create a hollow bar.
Does the bar have some thickness in the first place or is it just like a piece of paper floating on air?
Creating hollow bar could also concentrate the force to the outer layer thus strengthening the bar considering the force does not rely on density in the first place.

I also wonder if I could extend the overall bar length more than 12 steps of my own steps but reducing its active time proportionally.

I also wonder if the bar (in the shape of a ring plus a bar jutting out as a cane) could be set to be fixed to the head position (moves according to head movement) like a headband or something (just in case I want to use my head to support me walking).
This is in case Morach hands are busy with something else of course.

I would also try to shape the bar like a TV screen then try to visualize the background then adding an image of an insect to it (by adding appropriate color to the certain part of the bar) so that it would look like there is an insect (or at least a rough shape of it) in front of me. If that is too hard then I will try will a simple dot at first then try to make a line by adding more dot to the adjacent space.

The new action above are done provided if there are some time left in that month else Morach will do it in the next month.

Given that your density analysis skill uses your eyesight and replaces your ordinary vision with this X-ray-like view, it follows that you would be looking directly at the object in question, and thus that you are tagging a creature by line-of-sight. If you wish for me to roll for that, a success would be new use (a, "Gee, I can use this skill by using that one" moment).

The description of the ring as twelve inches in circumference indicated that the bar was curved such that its ends touched. The twelve inch distance is about the same as the ordinary height of a male sprite, and about the same as the length of the bar in steps. I avoided using "inches" in the most recent discussions because they are potentially confusing--an inch to a sprite is about half a foot relative to a human. The bar is like a railing, and it remains like a railing no matter how you shape its length. I am drawing a line here because there are many kinds of force objects which are comparable to a fixed wall (containers, platforms, shielding, even potentially armor) but quite a few that are not (weapons, tools, animated force objects), and since sometimes there are bias or chance of success distinctions I am careful about what I allow under the definition of any particular skill. A "hollow bar" is a pipe or a container, and thus distinct from this. This is the top of a wall without the lower section, created to give you support.

I also wonder if the bar (in the shape of a ring plus a bar jutting out as a cane) could be set to be fixed to the head position (moves according to head movement) like a headband or something (just in case I want to use my head to support me walking).

This bar does not move with you, but is created fixed to the world. If it did move with you, then if you fell it would fall with you.

I also wonder if I could extend the overall bar length more than 12 steps of my own steps but reducing its active time proportionally.

Probably. That would be a different skill, though, as the parameters of this one were defined rather narrowly.

I am unclear concerning how you shape the bar "as a TV screen". I can envision you bending it into a rectangle with an open space inside, but my impression is that you want a flat area inside. That is not something you can create.

Also, you can make the force object any color and visible texture you desire (e.g., make it look like bark or grass), but it must be uniform; you cannot use this skill to create an object with a detailed image on it.

--M. J. Young

it follows that you would be looking directly at the object in question, and thus that you are tagging a creature by line-of-sight. If you wish for me to roll for that, a success would be new use (a, "Gee, I can use this skill by using that one" moment).

I would say I have concluded a lot of my line-of-sight experiments from the above statement.
The usual tagging would activate automatically so it would probably be treated as practice because the density vision is done in practice.

I wonder if the density vision penetration power could be increased by increasing the concentration time proportionally.

The twelve inch distance is about the same as the ordinary height of a male sprite, and about the same as the length of the bar in steps.

Does this mean the force bar skill overall length is the same as the height of adult form of current body?
If that is the case I wonder what would happen if a slime or a different body try to use this skill.
I have to remember this for future experimentation.

This is the top of a wall without the lower section, created to give you support.

So it is like a thin paper floating in air then.

This bar does not move with you, but is created fixed to the world. If it did move with you, then if you fell it would fall with you.

If I try to stand on my father's back when he is giving me a piggyback ride, will the bar move relative to my father's back or is it fixed to the ground where my father crawls?
What will happen to the bar when I mount down from him? Does the bar follow him?
The above case could also be used for public transportation cases or even spaceship.

I will develop a similar skill that can extend the overall bar length more than 12 steps of my own steps but reducing its active time proportionally in the future if I can walk faster thus making the short bar inefficient to use.

I am unclear concerning how you shape the bar "as a TV screen".

I meant just like a flat surface of a TV screen but because you said that it is like a top of a wall without the lower section (which I take it to be like a thin paper floating in space), the original shape would just do well because I thought the original shape is like a rod (because you mention bar).

Also, you can make the force object any color and visible texture you desire (e.g., make it look like bark or grass), but it must be uniform; you cannot use this skill to create an object with a detailed image on it.

What an interesting limitation. I will try different uniform textures to see what is best to camouflage the bar from various environments.

*****

In the next month I will probably try to touch the place where the unreachable force wall disintegrates at and try examining it to see if it leave any mark or something.

The usual tagging would activate automatically so it would probably be treated as practice because the density vision is done in practice.

Well, some people would say this is unfair, but it does not count as new use if you don't actually "do" it by rolling. In essence, we know that you know you can do it, but we don't know that you've ever successfully done it, only gone through the motions reliably.
This is the top of a wall without the lower section, created to give you support.

So it is like a thin paper floating in air then.

It's more like the sort of wooden railing you find attached to the wall alongside stairways, without the attachment points. It's a bar, slightly rounded (perhaps oval in the cross section), maybe about as big as your father's fist.

Obviously dimensions given in proportion to bodies of sprites might or might not be different if were no longer a sprite, but you won't know that until it happens. To some degree the parameters of the skill have been set by the necessities of the purpose, in this case to provide a support by which you can balance yourself while walking.

Because of the wings, sprites do not carry their children on their backs or shoulders that way, but always in their arms or "sidesaddle" on one hip.

You are able to achieve several camouflage colorings for your bar, including mottled leafy green, mottled dirt brown, grass-like brushed green, grey and brown tree barks, and sky-like blue and white or grey. The sky colorings don't hide well near the ground, but you can see them being useful atop a hill where you might be observed from below.

O.K., am I right that we are about to enter month 16 which is April, or have I gotten derailed somewhere?

--M. J. Young

it does not count as new use if you don't actually "do" it by rolling.

I am a little confused with the above statement. So, do you meant:
a) I cannot use the usual tagging (automatic) in density vision practice until I roll for it once (manually).
b) I can use the usual tagging (automatic) if I just say that I integrate that new use in density vision practice so I can skip the roll for new use (which will make me unable to roll for this specific new use in the future).
c) I can use the usual tagging (automatic) in density vision practice but it will still be considered a new use if I do it once (manually).
d) something entirely different which I hope you would explain.
Which one of the above is what you have in mind?

in this case to provide a support by which you can balance yourself while walking.

That gives me a clue to the size it will be if Morach were no longer a sprite. I will have to develop a form changing skill in the future to test this.

This month reference (which is July the sixteenth month).
Coincidentally, it is the 24th December 2009 post which would make this a real time month. That would make the next month August the seventeenth month. Thanks for the "bold the month system" it is easier to search for it.

*****

Month 17 (August):

Can I walk unsupported (even a little bit) this month due to the training last month?

It's a bar, slightly rounded (perhaps oval in the cross section), maybe about as big as your father's fist.

That gives me an idea of an experiment.
What would happen if I extend the force bar through a dirt (or dust particle) I throw in the air?
Would the dirt (or dust particle) gather on top of the bar and:
a) float uniformly in the bar (which would mean it act like a solid).
b) float at the lower part of the bar only (which would mean it act like a hollow bar).
c) pass through the bar (which would mean the force just acted outwards).
d) pushed over to the end of the bar when the bar extended (which would mean it can push).

Because of the wings, sprites do not carry their children on their backs or shoulders that way, but always in their arms or "sidesaddle" on one hip.

I know the wings would kind of get in the way but I think the piggyback on the shoulder would still be possible (but still not preferable). I wonder if I could extend the force bar (camouflaged as a tree bark so it would not be stumbled upon) from my standing position to my sitting position while being carried by Lelach (at Lelach right side if Lelach carry me on her right side and vice versa) and then setting it to be fixed to her (then set it to translucent with grass like texture).
I will then observe what will happen to the force bar if I was put down to the ground and Lelach walk away. I will deactivate the force bar in the case where Lelach would walk in the direction of the force bar for safety reasons.

I would also like to examine the tree (where the unreachable force wall disappears) after I have finished with the above experiments.

You are now able to control your bowels and bladder; we'll skip the toilet training rolls as we have so much else to cover. It will be a while before you have it down perfectly, but you're getting there.

You are slightly ahead of the curve, being able to walk slowly unsupported and to run a few steps before falling. You can also jump in the same place, sit on a rock or log without falling off, throw overhand while standing still, pull and push small objects, stack objects four high, and handle your own spoon effectively. You can partly undress yourself. Your speech is remarkably ahead of the curve, because you now have control of most of the necessary phonemes and of course your vocabulary is already that of an educated adult, although you're still bending the words a bit as you try to wrap your mouth around them, and you have to speak slowly to be clear.

Your vision is still limited as to distance (it is moving toward 20/40 for a two year old, so it's not yet there).

b) I can use the usual tagging (automatic) if I just say that I integrate that new use in density vision practice so I can skip the roll for new use (which will make me unable to roll for this specific new use in the future).
c) I can use the usual tagging (automatic) in density vision practice but it will still be considered a new use if I do it once (manually).

Would you believe B-point-five? You can incorporate the automatic tagging into the density vision practice and skip rolling for success by sacrificing the new use bonus there, or you can roll for the success up front and not incorporate it into practice until you have the success and the new use, and then include it in practice thereafter.

Part of what is being avoided here is that you would include these things in practice and then at some later date when your skill ability levels are considerably higher roll for "new use" for them. If you're going to get "new use", it's going to be for an application you have not practiced. It makes sense to me that the activation of the density vision would mean that you might notice creatures within range that you would not have seen, and thus auto-tagged them already; however, the existence on your sheet of the skill "1@1 Tag mind of located hidden subject P3@9 enables the telepathic tagging of the mind of an unfamiliar creature whose position is known but who cannot be viewed because of intervening obstacles" makes this a more difficult issue to address, since what we now have is the recognition that if you see the creature with the density vision you can tag it with the remote tagging skill rather than the visual tagging skill, and so it probably requires a conscious decision on your part to use the visual tagging with the density vision (a good choice for reasons that would not be apparent to you in this world).

What would happen if I extend the force bar through a dirt (or dust particle) I throw in the air?

Hmmm...challenging question.

The bar appears to form instantly in complete dimension. Since it is a force that has no material existence, it does not interfere with objects when it does so. It appears that dust that is "inside" the force drifts or falls out at its own rate, but cannot move back in.

I am having some difficulty comprehending your intent in this experiment, but I will provide some clarification.

Since the bar is created specifically to be a support railing for you to hold while walking, its height is dependent upon the height of your shoulder. It can be the height of your shoulder relative to any surface on which you could stand or walk, and thus it could be at the distance of your shoulder relative to your mother. Also, it generally appears to your left or right (as you prefer), not in front of or behind you, except that from that point you can curve it, and you can be at either end or anywhere in the middle. I suspect, too, that it is perpendicular to your torso at the moment it is created, at least at the point nearest you. It normally follows the curvature of the "ground" under your feet from there, but you have managed to curve it to falsify that restriction, so that is allowed within the skill.

I think I need to know where you are when you bring it into existence, at what angle you believe your torso will be at that moment, and how you intend to curve it relative to yourself and to Lelach. I might be able to figure out what you're doing from that.

--M. J. Young

I am glad that I can walk unsupported and that my words are understandable (even if I have to walk/speak slowly). I will practice walking/speaking so that it can be done even faster.
I will also try to say the phonemes of foreign languages that I remember or any possible sound (which includes whistling) that I can so that I can speak various languages fluently in the future.

Your vision is still limited as to distance (it is moving toward 20/40 for a two year old, so it's not yet there).

I have to remember to enhance my vision one of these days but with clairvoyant and my other skills, it seems that I have neglected to do that. Thanks for reminding me.
I will concentrate for two minutes then try to enhance the image that I view (for far or fast-moving object) so I can at least know the object exact position.

Would you believe B-point-five?

Yes, I believe it (or maybe more to B-point-4999...). I also B-lieve point B.C(.) and where bee-point-sea.

You can incorporate the automatic tagging into the density vision practice and skip rolling for success by sacrificing the new use bonus there

I think I will choose the above option to be fair. The new use for mind tag would make the SAL for the skill to be 1@10 and Month 18 (for next skill advancement if I am not mistaken) is really close.
Did I set the remote tag to activate automatically too even though I learn that after the hypnotic suggestion or does the hypnotic suggestion covers that as well?

Hmmm...challenging question.

I hope you like it.

I have guessed that you will answer (c) from your previous explanation which is why I think of a hollow bar in the first place.
This will also mean that a force wall with enough thickness to contain self can be a good place for hunting.
I predict that the force wall will resist a force up to a certain limit then letting the object go through it (the force wall could still activate depending on its design which will make very resistant force wall disappear because it takes the energy from other part to make the force wall impenetrable compared to a force wall with uniform energy which will probably just let an object go through it after applying certain amount of force) but the speed of object that pass the force wall this way will be considerably slowed down and the object trajectory might change.
There is probably an exception case such as where speed burst could be achieved by gathering potential energy at one side of the force wall until it reaches that limit which will then be converted to a burst of kinetic energy. (That sounds like a cool move. I will call it "Force Burst" for future reference.)
The question would then be how much force could this force wall handle and what happen if an object that breaks easily like an egg (or ball of wet dirt) hits the force wall. I would also want to see if a reverse force bar can be created that can trap anything that have come inside of it. These will be my future experiments.

This experiment below is done after enhance vision skill. My intent is to see if the force bar that is fixed to Lelach position moves relative to her.
Phase one:
The original force bar was done before Lelach carries me because Lelach would probably not carry me for 16 minutes. This force bar is shaped like a bended tree with the color similar to a tree bark.
Phase two:
Set the force bar relative to Lelach when her carry me on her arms (which will depend on how she carries me) as long as it does not impede her walking. This force bar color will be change to be translucent with grass like texture so it is harder to see. I will observe if the force bar is following Lelach or not.
Phase three:
When Lelach put me down and get away from me, I will observe if the force bar will follow her or not. I will then fixed the force bar that are far way from me to the ground where I am now standing and see if it will stop at that far away position or will it come back to me.

Can I change the color of the force bar to a reflective silver like a mirror or translucent like a fiber optic?

After I am done with the above experiment, I will test if a wet ball of dirt will break if I drop it on top of the force bar.

I will concentrate for two minutes then try to enhance the image that I view (for far or fast-moving object) so I can at least know the object exact position.

This sounds to me like a psionic vision enhancement skill. I could best analogize it to that image clarification software that takes blurry pictures and extrapolates the sharp versions from them. If that's what you are attempting, we can do that. I will note that it has little if anything to do with improving your vision itself, which remains somewhat blurry, limited in distance.

Most of your speculations concerning force walls seem reasonable to me. My only point is that those are new skills, in essence other configurations of a skill like the one you already developed. You know how to create a bar that will support you. You could learn how to create a screen that looks like tree bark behind which you could hide, which would slow or deflect incoming projectiles and permit projectiles to pass through it from your side unimpeded. That, though, would be a different skill.

I am less certain about your "force burst" idea, but if you reach the point at which you determine to try it we'll put it through the analysis to figure out what it is and what it does. (Off the top of my head, I'm inclined to think it more likely to be an energy manipulative than a force generative, but it might depend in part on how you are generating the energy.)

I am uncertain about the viability of your experiment. What most concerns me is the concentration-to-effect problem. My impression is that you must create the bar immediately from the tolling of the period of concentration, but that you must create it relative to yourself at that instant. This means that Lelach would have to pick you up at or immediately before that instant; but if she picks you up while you are concentrating, you have the possibility of having your concentration interrupted--and perhaps more significantly, you would have to interrupt that concentration to ask her to pick you up, because you are changing your focus from the preparation for the skill use to getting the attention of your mother. I'll need you to resolve these concerns before I can determine whether it works. (It might require a will power check for you to maintain concentration against a potential interruption, but that won't work if you are the cause of the interruption.)

You can make the force ball a reflective silver, the reflective quality of which is imperfect (based on how successful the roll is), and you can give it the translucent look of fiber optics. It is irregularly curved, and so the reflective exterior gives the distorted image of an irregularly convex mirror, a sort of distorted magnification.

I'm not sure how "wet" you want this ball of dirt to be, nor how hard, nor from how high you are dropping it (given that the normal height of the bar is your shoulder and you can't reach very far above your head), but the bar is solid relative to the dirt, and the dirt does act appropriately for hitting a solid object.

--M. J. Young

I will concentrate for two minutes then try to enhance the image that I view (for far or fast-moving object) so I can at least know the object exact position.

This skill works by improving the image received from the eye but does not do anything to change the properties of the eye.
I was hoping to tag mind from further distances with this skill. If that can be done then I will practice this skill regularly.

I will note that it has little if anything to do with improving your vision itself, which remains somewhat blurry, limited in distance.

Does the above statement meant that the eye properties does not change or do you mean something else?
Does the image from the eye remain somewhat blurry, limited in distance after the skill is activated or can the skill extrapolate the image so that the far distance object be clear?

That, though, would be a different skill.

I just speculate the force wall properties in general which is why I said "force wall" and not "force bar". Even though a different skill is needed to do what is intended effectively, "force bar" could possibly be use in such a way if the right condition presents itself.

it might depend in part on how you are generating the energy.

Yes, that is the key to the problem. The potential energy can even come from a solid object but for this case the force wall should deactivate (a very resistive force wall would fit for this case) when the limit is reached to achieve max efficiency (because if it is not then it will resist the next batch of molecules which will make the solid object even slower but this could be remedied by using a very thin object with flat surface).

What most concerns me is the concentration-to-effect problem. My impression is that you must create the bar immediately from the tolling of the period of concentration, but that you must create it relative to yourself at that instant.

That is why the concentration period is done before Lelach picks me up. When Lelach picks me up, I will just "chain" the skill so that it will be relative to Lelach.
It will be like a person who activate this skill from a port then boards ship then "chaining" it so that it will work relative to the ship. If I am not mistaken, "chaining" the skill does not require additional concentration time thus can be done instantly.
Does that resolves the problem?

I wonder what will happen if a laser beam (or concentrated light) hits the reflective force wall or travel through the fiber optic force bar. I will remember this for future experiment.
If the force bar can be translucent, it could possibly filter light. I will try to see what kind of filter is possible (such as polarization, intensity and others) for the force bar.
Can the force bar filter sprite light so that when I look at my own skin through the force bar I only can see my own skin without the light?

the dirt does act appropriately for hitting a solid object

I take that will make the wet (enough to make it break easily) dirt ball to break apart then.
Speaking of dirt ball, I will try to make three (or more) of them for the purpose of juggling. I will then try to throw one ball in air (at low height at first then adjust to higher level accordingly) then try to catch it. If I get the hang of it, I will try juggling more balls.

I have to remember to examine the place (or object) where the unreachable force wall disappears. If I could not find anything after examining it, I will touch that place (or object) and concentrate for 30 minutes then try to view any anomaly that have happened in that place (or object) in the past.

I think we're on the same page with the vision enhancement skill. My description is that you are using a psionic mental ability to process a distant blurry image into a clearer one. Because of the time involved, this gives you still-frame images, about one a minute, about half a minute behind the original view. You succeed in teaching yourself this skill.

I was hoping to tag mind from further distances with this skill.

Since it is not a requirement of that tagging skill that you see the creature clearly, but only that you see the creature, and it is a requirement of this skill that you see the target in order to enhance it, the only reason this would work is if you enhanced an image in which there happened to be a creature you were not aware was there before. Given the delay in the imaging, that won't give you the tag in that case.

Does the image from the eye remain somewhat blurry, limited in distance after the skill is activated or can the skill extrapolate the image so that the far distance object be clear?

Your vision remains blurry. In the same way that you can have clairvoyant images in your mind distinct from visual images, your mind processes the data and produces a secondary image that you can see in your mind based on the information from the blurry image. It is a still image of a moment before.

Does that resolves the problem?

Well, sort of. It now means that you have to generate the bar and Lelach has to pick you up without either noticing, bumping, or tripping over an object roughly thigh height (for her), as long as she is tall, and within your arms length of you. Before I tackle this problem, do you have any thoughts on that aspect?

If the force bar can be translucent, it could possibly filter light. I will try to see what kind of filter is possible (such as polarization, intensity and others) for the force bar.
Can the force bar filter sprite light so that when I look at my own skin through the force bar I only can see my own skin without the light?

If you make the bar a translucent color, it colors the light that passes through it. If you make it opaque it blocks all light, and thus logically you can make it tinted to block some light. I don't think you have any way to test for polarization, and if you do then I'll expect you to explain to me (what I already know) what polarization means and (what I don't know as well) how you could achieve it.

Throwing a ball "up" is more difficult for you than throwing it forward. You try, but you have great difficulty getting it to come down anywhere near you.

I have to remember to examine the place (or object) where the unreachable force wall disappears. If I could not find anything after examining it, I will touch that place (or object) and concentrate for 30 minutes then try to view any anomaly that have happened in that place (or object) in the past.

Before I begin to tackle this, let me be clear that you are attempting a retrocognition here, attempting to view the history of the tree. Is that correct?

--M. J. Young

Given the delay in the imaging, that won't give you the tag in that case.

That is unless the creature stays on the same place for over a minute (or 30 seconds depending on the situation) which I could confirm by getting the image of creature in the same position again after a minute.
Does the creature that stays on the same place get tagged this way?
That reminds me of trying object movement prediction from an image (and other environmental variable) to predict the movement of the object 30 seconds in the future which is actually the present.

Before I tackle this problem, do you have any thoughts on that aspect?

Knowing the path Lelach would possibly take after carrying me around would be great. I could also activate the force bar near the edge of clearing where I cut down the trees which would make a bended tree bark (which is actually the force bar) look normal. Lelach would then will bring me closer to the center of the clearing thus would not trip on the force bar because I am situated in between the force bar and Lelach. Even if Lelach would go to the path that will make her trip (which is unlikely), I would just "chain" the force bar to open the path for her and if that cannot be done then I will just deactivate it. I think that concludes the plan for Phase 1.

Reminder for Phase 2 and 3:

I will then fixed the force bar that are far way from me to the ground where I am now standing and see if it will stop at that far away position or will it come back to me.

if you do then I'll expect you to explain to me (what I already know) what polarization means

That would be too long and you already know about it. So let me save some time and give you some links for that.
a) Polarization from Wikipedia.
b) Polarizer from Wikipedia.

how you could achieve it

Haidinger's brush would be one way to perceive polarization of light (just by using eye) but what I wanted to do is make a polarization filter.
When looking at the water surface of the river, I will search for a spot where the light from the sun is blocking my vision from seeing the bottom of the river. I will then activate the force bar (with usual 16 minutes concentration) and try looking through it then adjusting the bar to filter the glare from the water surface. If it can do that then it just polarized light.

You try, but you have great difficulty getting it to come down anywhere near you.

Understandable, that is what practice is for.

I will touch that place (or object) and concentrate for 30 minutes then try to view any anomaly that have happened in that place (or object) in the past.

Before I begin to tackle this, let me be clear that you are attempting a retrocognition here, attempting to view the history of the tree. Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct. More specifically, I wanted to see if anything weird have happened to the tree in the past such as the unreachable force wall although I would not oppose to viewing other interesting history that have happened to the tree.

Does the creature that stays on the same place get tagged this way?

The problem I am having is that the tagging skill requires only that you perceive an object you know to be a creature, not that you perceive it clearly. If you use your enhanced imaging to clarify the image of the creature and you knew it was a creature before clarifying it then you would have tagged it before enhancing the image. If you perceived that a blur in an image was a creature after enhancing the image and the blur is in the same position, the enhanced image is only relevant to your knowledge that it is a creature; it is the fact that you can see the blur that matters. (If you can't see the blur, you can't enhance the image anyway, because the enhancement is of the original blurred image.)

You manage to get the bar in place, and at just the right moment Lelach announces that it's time for your bath, and she walks over and pick you up. The branch-like bar which is suspended at her thigh-height does not catch her attention. She props you on her hip with her arm around your back.

You move the force bar and change its color--but you encounter a bit of complication here. Because you are sideways to your mother, it must be either in front of or behind her. If it is in front of her, she might see it if the color does not conform quickly enough; if it is behind her, it might hit her wings.

What's your choice?

My reasons for requesting that you explain polarization were 1) to make sure that your personal understanding of the term matched mine; 2) to see what you meant by the term yourself; 3) to make sure that what I took you to be doing was whatever it is you said you were trying to do, and not something different that I understood by the word. In this case it was not helpful to give me links, because they don't tell me what you know, but what Wikipedia knows.

I realize that that might be insulting. On one level it is evident that you are an intelligent and educated individual, and I would bet that your training has a science focus. However, you have concealed your identity and many details about you from me, so I am not unjustified in challenging your knowledge on any subject. It would be different if, for example, I knew you to be a high school physics teacher or a research chemist or in some similar field that required an extensive scientific background; in that case many of these science questions would be taken for granted (and there might be other subjects on which I would question you more carefully).

--M. J. Young

If you perceived that a blur in an image was a creature after enhancing the image and the blur is in the same position, the enhanced image is only relevant to your knowledge that it is a creature; it is the fact that you can see the blur that matters.

Thanks for the clarification.

What's your choice?

Can I curve it behind her in a way that would not get in the range of her wings?
If I could not do that then I will try curving it to the side from the position slightly behind (or in front of) her (that is not in the range of her wing or sight).
If that could not be done, I will just tell Lelach about a flying thing (that I will make appear in front of her after discussing the matter with her) that is the shape of a bar of smoke (or balloon if she did not want smoke to follow her) that will joining us to the bath as my guest.
If she consents to it then I will make the force bar with smoke (or balloon) texture appear slightly in front of her then bend to the sideway to give Lelach more room to move forward and tell Lelach that this thing will follow her movement so I will tell her to be careful so that the thing would not collide with anything (although I do not mind if it collide with leaves or small branches along the way).
If she ask where that thing (or force bar) suddenly come from I will tell her that it was a Gift (or ability that is given to me).

Reminder for Phase 3:

When Lelach put me down and get away from me, I will observe if the force bar will follow her or not. I will then fixed the force bar that are far way from me to the ground where I am now standing and see if it will stop at that far away position or will it come back to me.

because they don't tell me what you know, but what Wikipedia knows.

If I have read Wikipedia before, does that mean I know what it knows or does this have to be the knowledge I know before I verse (which would mean an earlier version of the website before it is updated)?

I have done a research on virtual reality (which I think you do list it as 2@4 Modify Computer T11@3 includes virtual or augmented reality, integration of hardware interface with mapping, object recognition and visual augmentation) before that includes how 3D screens works. That includes the knowledge of polarization and polarization filter. Does that suffice?

I am not sure what knowledge I have prior to versing but I think (if I am not mistaken) that polarizer (or polarization filter) can filter out the glare from the surface of water so that is why I want to try that. If the question you are asking is what type of polarization filter am I trying to make then I would have to say I am not sure that I remember that prior to the verse but I would go for the same as 3D glasses (which uses linear polarization filter although some 3D glasses uses circular polarization filter which is better because you can tilt your head while viewing the 3D screen).
Can the force bar reduce or make the glare disappear so that I can see the bottom of the river?

After I came back from the bath, I will:

examine the place (or object) where the unreachable force wall disappears. If I could not find anything after examining it, I will touch that place (or object) and concentrate for 30 minutes then try to view any anomaly that have happened in that place (or object) in the past.

Sometimes you move the bar quickly and easily to your intended position; this time it moves slowly, bending and changing color over the course of maybe half a minute. There seems to be an uncertainty, as the bar wants to be parallel to its frame of reference, which is Lelach, but perpendicular to your shoulder. It thus forms as a warped "L" to your right, which is behind her, and behind you because it is set to be at your shoulder height and you are not standing vertical to the frame of reference, and it then bends away from you behind you. You reposition it to your side behind her, and bend it so that it trails behind her.

You head down the path to the stream, and it waves a bit as she moves, but she does not notice it.

She bends down to set you in the water, and the bar comes down with her. The bottom end of it, which was near your feet, hits the ground, stopping her.

She looks rather frightened.

--M. J. Young

I have to remember to make a skateboard (or tricycle) soon for future experiments.

She bends down to set you in the water, and the bar comes down with her. The bottom end of it, which was near your feet, hits the ground, stopping her.

I just found out a new interesting trait of the force bar. The force bar can stop something that it is fixed to from moving even though the force bar does not touch the object that it fixed to (which in this case would probably be Lelach's hip).
I think I can neutralize two (or more) threats at once this way. That also means that "force burst" might be done easier (and safer because can be done further) than I previously thought. This could also be two consecutive attacks if the fixed object went after the force wall.
The force bar could also be used to link something this way. If the object it is fixed to (Object A) and the object that the force bar touches (Object B) opposes each other, I wonder if the potential energy felt by Object A is the same as potential energy felt by force bar touching Object B.
I am also interested in what object gives in first. By experimenting on objects with various density, I could possibly know how much force the force bar or various objects can handle.

She looks rather frightened.

When Lelach bends over to put me down, I could re-align the bar so it curve upwards to Lelach (and not sideways) because she put me in an angle where the bar is headed to the ground and I can adjust that so it will be level to the ground but it is still set relative to Lelach. I will then ask her if she is alright. I think her hip might felt a little weird.
If that still impede her movement in some way then I will just deactivate it and if not then I will move to Phase 3.

When Lelach put me down and get away from me, I will observe if the force bar will follow her or not. I will then fixed the force bar that are far way from me to the ground where I am now standing and see if it will stop at that far away position or will it come back to me.

Can the force bar reduce or make the glare disappear so that I can see the bottom of the river?

After I came back from the bath, I will examine the place (or object) where the unreachable force wall disappears. If I could not find anything after examining it, I will touch that place (or object) and concentrate for 30 minutes then try to view any anomaly that have happened in that place (or object) in the past.

You quickly bend the bottom end of the force bar way so that it is no longer below her hip. It is a rather contorted bar at this point, but it does not touch her nor any other object.

You are less than a year and a half old. Your mother does not leave you alone in the stream to bathe, although she does let you splash and play with the water. The bar tracks with her movements, but it might still be trouble if she tries to sit on the bank as she sometimes does if she is letting you play. There is also some danger that the extended ends of the bar will hit something as she moves and turns, although that has not yet happened. You feel that the bar is very stable, and likely to last for quite some time yet, but your mother is not likely to walk away from you until she has finished washing and dressing you.

--M. J. Young

Your mother does not leave you alone in the stream to bathe, although she does let you splash and play with the water.

Does she hold me all the time or does she put me down to play then rest at the bank but keep watching me?
If she put me down but would not leave me alone (just taking a step back to rest or something without touching me) then I would look if the bar still moves according to her movements.
If she still touches me during the bath the entire time which I think would be weird (and unlikely), I will just shift my position slightly (not too far but makes Lelach moves too) so I can avoid touch for a moment and make her move towards me and observe if the bar is moving accordingly.
After confirming whether the bar moves according to Lelach when I am not touching her, I will set bar fixed to where I am standing or sitting and see if the bar stopped behind her.
If it stopped behind her then I make it translucent (with possible glare filter) and try to align the bar so it is parallel to the river so I can look through it but would not be easily seen by Lelach.
If it does not stop behind her and directly appear beside me as support, I will make it translucent with the camouflage of water texture then I will try the glare filter next.

If Lelach comes close to tripping then I will just deactivate the force bar before that happens. In the case of this happening, I will make a back up experiment.
First, check a rock that I can throw forward without it spinning out of control preferably a flat rock. Throw the rock a few times to see the way it spins.
Second, stand on top of the rock and set the force bar (with usual 16 minutes of concentration or just "chain" it if it already exists) relative to a rock that I am standing (probably with a ring shape right on top the rock according to how it spins to stabilize its movement).
Third, throw the rock forward and see if the force bar (with ring shape) follow the direction of the rock and just be ready (to defend) in case the force bar hits which would not be too hard because it would probably be equivalent to the force I use to throw the rock.
Fourth, "chain" the force bar to where I am standing and see if the force bar came back to the position beside me or will it still be at that far away position.

At your age she stays close enough to grab you if you go under, but she does not hold you constantly. You have fairly recently reached the point where you can sit for extended times without much danger of falling over, even in the weak current of the stream, so she is within her own reach of you but probably beyond your reach of her.

And yes, the bar moves with her even after you have effectively moved away from it.

After confirming whether the bar moves according to Lelach when I am not touching her, I will set bar fixed to where I am standing or sitting and see if the bar stopped behind her.

I'm understanding this to mean that you are trying to shift the frame of reference of the bar to the surface on which you are currently sitting without moving the bar itself. If it works, that would mean that the bar stops tracking with Lelach but does not move within your reach.

As you change the frame of reference, the bar, retaining its unbalanced horseshoe shape and grassy color, suddenly snaps to a position alongside you at what would be shoulder height were you standing in the stream. As it does so, it collides with Lelach, pushing her forward into the stream. This happens in a fraction of a second, but it does not appear to have hurt her--just pushed her over.

You quickly change the color to transluscent, and it looks a bit like a huge glass horseshoe suspended over the water.

"What is that?" she demands, as she picks herself up out of the stream.

--M. J. Young

If it works, that would mean that the bar stops tracking with Lelach but does not move within your reach.

I have to learn how to do that later. Maybe I have to make the bar move relative to that position but it is fixed to my current position.

As it does so, it collides with Lelach, pushing her forward into the stream. This happens in a fraction of a second, but it does not appear to have hurt her--just pushed her over.

I just thought of a new experiment because of that. (Boomerang anyone?)
I wonder what will happen if there is a solid object between the previous fixed point and the new fixed point and how much force is done to the solid object in between.
I also thought of a compress wall "force burst" combo for two people but that will have to wait until I have a partner or duplicate myself.

"What is that?" she demands, as she picks herself up out of the stream.

If she can see the translucent bar then I make it invisible then look around like searching for something. I will ask her what she thought she have seen. I will also calm her down and say that maybe it is just the wind or something.

When she is not looking, I will try the glare filter experiment next with the shape that can be covered by my body completely (so Lelach could not see it).

The bar vanishes instantly, to the barest glimmer in the air, easily mistaken for a trick of the light.

She stares at it unseeing for a moment, then shakes herself.

"Come on," she says. "Something strange is happening here. Something pushed me over, and I didn't see it--or I thought I saw it, but I don't know what it was. Anyway, let's finish your bath and get you dressed and back to the clearing."

She hurries you along to finish your bath, and pulls you out of the water quickly.

--M. J. Young

If Lelach still worries about the incident, I will talk to her.
"That was probably my fault because I always attract strange things but they probably meant no harm and just wanted to play around," I tell Lelach with a worried look on my face and then probably try to smile when saying "play around" to diffuse her worries.
Mirror the behavior of Lelach then slowly change the mood to more positive one according to the behavior of Lelach is what Morach is trying to do.

She hurries you along to finish your bath, and pulls you out of the water quickly.

Looks like I have to delay the glare filter experiment another day.
I could try to make the sky bluer or search for a rainbow but I probably would not thought of that prior to verse.
When I am back at the clearing, I will (recreate or "chain" the bar and then) shape the bar to become U-shape (like the balance bar) but I will extend it to make a turn to either right (if the handle is on left) or left (if the handle is on right). I will then try to make the bar so it will have linear polarization (with the polarization axis along the bar). I will then look at the lower beam of the extended part from the upper bar that from the original part (not extended part).
If I manage to make a linear polarization filter, the lower bar would appear to be dark.

I will examine the place (or object) where the unreachable force wall disappears. If I could not find anything after examining it, I will touch that place (or object) and concentrate for 30 minutes then try to view any anomaly that have happened in that place (or object) in the past.

"You worry me, Rach. There are strange things around you, and they are not always safe."

Back in the clearing you move the bar from the stream back to you. This time it comes slowly, taking more than a minute to float through the woods. It seems to come on a straight line, in the main, pushing over objects that are flexible or fragile, bouncing around those which would otherwise impede it. It makes some noise, and at one point Lelach glances that direction, but she does not see anything.

It assumes the U-shape.

You are able to darken the bar, but there is no evidence that this is polarization.

You have quoted the statement about examining the place "where the unreachable force wall disappears". I am thinking that this is with reference to the occasion on which your botch created a wall that you could not reach, and you moved it into a tree, and when it touched the tree it dissolved. That, though, would mean you are examining the place where it disappeared, not where it disappears, which has no meaning for me. So I guess I need some clarification on that.

bouncing around those which would otherwise impede it.

I wonder how much force would it take to bounce the force bar from the straight path. I also thought of double ring formation that will probably make the force bar tug at each other to opposite direction (which probably need two force bar users), dragging another object (that is chained to the force bar) to one direction and containing the force bar so that it will bring the container with it.

You are able to darken the bar, but there is no evidence that this is polarization.

The bar itself should not appear dark by itself but will appear dark if certain conditions are met.
The polarization filter texture (which I could be wrong so please correct me if I am) is like drawing a very small line (a silver line that can reflect light or black line to absorb it which has a width significantly smaller than wavelength radiation) that is spaced evenly (that less than wavelength radiation) parallel to the bar axis.
Did I see the extended part of the lower bar become darker than the non-extended part of the lower bar from non-extended part of the upper bar or is all the lower bar looks the same from the upper bar?
The non-extended part of the lower bar should appear lighter to the extended part of the lower bar (seen through the non-extended part of upper bar) if polarization is present.
The linear polarization texture would probably be do-able because it is spread uniformly throughout the bar.

If I look at the time of when the unreachable force wall disappears (which is in the past but viewed presently), should I use "disappeared" or "disappears"?
Even I am confused to what word I should use but I think you are right on that. Well, that happens when you play with time.

you moved it into a tree, and when it touched the tree it dissolved

That tree (or specifically that spot) is what I am trying to examine.
Please feel free to ask if you need more clarification.

If I could not find anything after examining it, I will touch that place (or object) and concentrate for 30 minutes then try to view any anomaly that have happened in that place (or object) in the past.

O.K., you're making my life difficult here. Let me clarify what the parameters are, and we can go from there.

What you have created is a solid force. It is not an object; it has no matter or material. Its appearance is not because it "is" that color or texture, but because it "appears" so--appearance being something more than an illusion but less than a reality.

Also, although you can move it, it cannot be used as a tool or weapon; it can only be used as a shield or wall or support. That is the only function it can have. Thus any effort to use it for any other purpose must fail.

The one exception to this is that were the bar fixed relative to you (which is not possible with this particular skill, which fixes it relative to your frame of reference) you could by moving yourself press it against another object, and so exert such force with it as you could exert were you pressing on that object with your hand or shoulder, with the advantage that you are not touching the object pushed. Thus I conclude from this that when you move the force it will push objects aside if it can do so without damaging them, but will be pushed around objects that cannot be moved thus. Lelach was a peculiar case, and the GE roll suggested that there was a negative consequence to your decision to reorient the bar, so it pushed her over as if you were pushing it. I would guess it caught her off balance--you could not have exerted sufficient force to knock her over if she were anticipating it, but you could cause her to fall if you ran into her at full speed when she was bending over.

So I'm going to save myself a lot of trouble by saying that if you want this bar to do anything that is not covered by the parameters I just described, it will not do it.

To be clear, that does not mean you cannot do any of the things you're trying to do; you just cannot do them with this bar, whose sole function is providing a fixed support that can be colored and textured minimally for purposes of camouflage. You can develop forces whose movement you can control, but these are (slightly higher biased) other skills. You can create force objects that do all the things you want to do with this bar, but these, too, are (significantly higher biased) other skills.

So let's give a blanket answer to these experiments: if it fits the parameters described, you can do it, and if it doesn't, you can't.

You stand by the tree concentrating, but after about fifteen minutes Lelach comes over. "Morach? Are you all right? Say something, honey."

If you don't respond, she will touch you, then shake you.

This interrupts your concentration at whatever point you respond.

O.K., you're making my life difficult here. Let me clarify what the parameters are, and we can go from there.

Sorry about that and thank you for the clarification.

although you can move it, it cannot be used as a tool or weapon; it can only be used as a shield or wall or support. Thus any effort to use it for any other purpose must fail.

Well, that was weird. I could see a lot of way that a shield, wall or support can be used as a tool or weapon in certain situation.

Lelach was a peculiar case, and the GE roll suggested that there was a negative consequence to your decision to reorient the bar, so it pushed her over as if you were pushing it.

This is what I meant by certain situation.

I have thought of this before (after Lelach stopped when bending down) and with the advantage of the skill in which it cannot damage the object touched, it will be a great skill to have because of its life saving potential.

So I'm going to save myself a lot of trouble by saying that if you want this bar to do anything that is not covered by the parameters I just described, it will not do it.

I think I did conduct the experiment according to the parameter of the force bar but I just wanted to see what it does in certain situation. You can say that I am researching for the bar behavior in peculiar situation.

You can create force objects that do all the things you want to do with this bar, but these, too, are (significantly higher biased) other skills.

I will keep this in mind.

I do not think that Morach will stand for 30 minutes so he will probably sit down near the tree while touching it. He will probably close his eyes (to look like he was asleep) while concentrating on the image of the past.

If you don't respond, she will touch you, then shake you.

I will yawn like I am just awaken from sleep and say, "Huh, morning already? Need more sleep. This place is reeeeally comfortable."

If she lets me sleep then I will restart the skill concentration from the beginning.
If she picks me up to do something else I will probably look grumpy and behave like a child who is woken up forcefully.
If I cannot try the skill now I will find a time when Lelach would not be aware of what I am doing for more than 30 minutes then:

I will touch that place (or object) and concentrate for 30 minutes then try to view any anomaly that have happened in that place (or object) in the past.

I know it's a bit confusing. The problem is that a 10@1 force is strictly speaking a shield or wall, fixed either to the character or to the world. If you want to use a force manipulatively (as opposed to manipulating objects telekinetically, which is much simpler) you need a different skill--a quick rundown for explantory purposes, which you will hereafter assume your character does not know:

  • P10@2 pushers, trippers
  • P10@3 Whips
  • P10@4 blunts/strikers
  • P10@5 friction
  • P10@6 slicing blades
  • P10@7 chopping blades
  • P10@8 piercing forces, grabbing forces
  • P10@9 crushing, smothering
  • P10@10 rending, any force that pulls in opposing directions to itself
Since those are the parameters of the higher skills, your shield can't accomplish those as reliable functions. You can, as mentioned, create a shield relative to yourself and ram someone with it, doing such damage as you would do if you hit them yourself, but only by moving yourself as the weapon.

I do not think that Morach will stand for 30 minutes so he will probably sit down near the tree while touching it. He will probably close his eyes (to look like he was asleep) while concentrating on the image of the past.

Since the bar was at shoulder height when it contacted the tree, you probably cannot reach that point on the tree to touch it while sitting. However, I will assume that you touch the tree itself.

I will also assume that the first attempt (in which you were standing and touching the point in question) was interrupted, so you are sitting and trying again. You are much less likely to be interrupted if you are napping leaning against the tree--it's not like she'll send you to bed.

However, you fail to connect with the past or see anything about the history of the tree or the area around it.
