+@1 to Crossbow skill. Thanks.

The meat is sweet to the taste, dark to the eye, and rough on the tongue. You fill up on six-legged lizard, and have some left over for another meal.

You rearrange your clips, and you set off again, but this time its more to your left.

You come to the edge of a forty acre deep blue, circular lake in a shallow valley in the granite. A creek to your left flows into it over and around some rocks as you can hear the burble of falling water.

The air is burning in your lungs.

Wrap that up in one of the plastic bags that I have (Box of garbage bags in the pack)

You rearrange your clips, and you set off again, but this time its more to your left.

So the scriff sense IS moving. Are you telling me that it is now pointing back in the direction that I came?

You come to the edge of a forty acre deep blue, circular lake in a shallow valley in the granite. A creek to your left flows into it over and around some rocks as you can hear the burble of falling water.

Is there anything which would indicate to me that the water is not safe to drink? I've got that book on wilderness survival, so check that. If, with the book and common sense, I deem the water safe to drink, fill my canteen and add a water purification tablet to it.

The air is burning in your lungs.

Get out a bandanna and tie it around my face. Might help a little.

Its not yet pointing back the way you came.

The water seems safe to drink, and its very clear. You can see the bottom near the edge although it seems to slope deeply down.

You see several what look to be bass on the order of five feet long. (Very good GE roll.Don't ask.)

Tying the bandana does help. You keep on hiking, following the scriff sense. Over the course of two hours...you arrive back at the plane. Only this time, you're looking up at it, and you can see a hint of front windows, and a dented in front nose. From this angle, you can see the insignia on the tail.

Its familiar, but you can't quite place it.

Then you recognize it. Its the Eastern Hemisphere of the Earth, only upside down with Australia near the top.

You see several what look to be bass on the order of five feet long. (Very good GE roll.Don't ask.)

Unless it's a 3 or a 30, don't tell me such things. For all I knew, that was referee fiat. Unless it's a 3 or a 30, don't ask, don't tell. That sounds like a good policy to me.

I'm going to stay here for a few. Get out the pocket fisherman and try to catch a bass. If I catch one, cook it, (I've got a metal cookie sheet on which to do the cooking) and put it in the garbage bag with what's left of the lizard. Who knows when I will again find such good eating? Fill the canteen, wash everything and head out.

You keep on hiking, following the scriff sense. Over the course of two hours...you arrive back at the plane.

I'm going to assume that the detour I took to catch the fish didn't derail this.

Kneel and pray "God, what is happening with my gear that it's moving so fast that I'm walking in circles? If I keep following the scriff sense, will I eventually find it, or is this a lost cause?"

Pray for 10 minutes. It's God's choice how He is to answer me. (Which is to say, use the lowest-bias skill which would answer this question)

You fish for about ten minutes and don't even get a bite. Studying the problem a bit, you realize the bass have been hearing you stepping loudly, and you need to quiet it down a bit. Two minutes later, you get a nibble. Then you get a bite, and a minute later, you're dragging a three foot long bass up on the lake side. Shortly thereafter, its in the bag.

After you pray, you see a vision of your stuff flying through space, orbitting a planet that is not Earth, and there is a blue star as the sun for this solar system. Thinking about it, you realize that ten thousand miles away could be in space, and that once it was in orbit, it just kept going in orbit. And it looks like a lost cause for ordinary means to get it.

It takes about two hours roughly for it to circle the planet.

See Lost Object in Vision Mag ??? Holy Magic Skill:1@2. Verbal prayer describing problem, ten minutes, kneel, appropriate.

The gear is safe. I could call on Terry to get it back, but what would be the point? I've got everything I need to keep myself alive in this backpack. Verser's SURVIVAL Pack, remember. Maybe when I find civilization do that, but for the moment, it's safe. I'm well enough supplied, might as well just leave it where it is.

Since it seems I'm back at the plane, check to see if there's another way in besides climbing up on the roof. If there is, go inside and look for things to loot. If there's not, I guess I will have to climb up on the roof. I'm looking for weapons and ammunition, food, clothes, if I can find a tent I wouldn't turn my nose up at it. What I'd really like to find is a portable propane torch. Portable blacksmithing shop. If I can find something like a cart with wheels to carry this backpack and everything else, that would be awesome too.

NOTES:

Good hunting, good fishing, good water. A lake attracts animals to hunt, a lake means good vegetation, edible plants and whatnot. That lake looks like a decent place to stay for a while and practice live off the land skills. Yeah, after this, go back there and camp out for a while. That plane doesn't mean squat about civilization. I could be a thousand miles from nowhere. I can live here for a long, long time.

There's a broken window on the left side of the plane. Its about forty feet up the side of the plane. There's another entrance possibly up near the front of the plane beyond the hole in the roof. And of course, there's the well at the back end of the plane.

You take the roof entrance, and beginto search. The primary area you have not checked that is not dark is the wide door room. Inside are some shelves.

You find four ten oz. cans. On the front of one you can see a picture that looks like a drawing of a fruit.

There is a locked fabric square with some white rods. The whole thing is a foot by a foot by four nches.

You find a ball of metal.

You might find more, but you haven't looked in the dark areas, nor in the front pilot's area.

You find four ten oz. cans. On the front of one you can see a picture that looks like a drawing of a fruit.

Take, and after the fruit is gone, I've got metal for arrowheads.

There is a locked fabric square with some white rods. The whole thing is a foot by a foot by four inches.

You mean a folded piece of cloth and metals rods? The makings of a tent? If that's what it is, take. If it's something else, please clarify.

You find a ball of metal.

How big? A solid metal sphere, like a ball bearing, or something else? If it's just a solid metal sphere, leave it. If it's something else, clarify. A blacksmith might be able to use it if it's something else, and I am a blacksmith.

You might find more, but you haven't looked in the dark areas, nor in the front pilot's area.

Check the front pilot's area first. If there are weapons and ammo, that's where they would be. After that, search the dark areas. Keep the 9mm holstered. It would be useless against rats and spiders.

If you don't mind me asking, what does "A1's Ark" mean?

I would also be looking for a Zippo cigarette lighter or an oil lamp. And tools. Specifically, anything which could be used for metalworking. (Cutters, pliers, etc)

Is it apparent what this plane was used for? If it's a cargo plane, there should be oodles of stuff to loot. If it was a passenger plane, where are all the people? What kind of a plane was this, as far as I can tell?

Two

Items I'm looking for:

Food
Clothes
Medicine/medical supplies
tools (Ax, woodworking/metalworking tools)
Portable propane torch
Weapons and ammo
Oil lamps/oil of any type (Cooking, motor oil, anything. I'll turn one of those cans into a lamp if I have to)
Thin sheet metal (I intend to teach myself how to make crossbow arrows. Need metal for the heads)
Metal dishes or cookware
Something with wheels in which to haul it all.
Anything else the referee thinks I might want or need

Also, if there's a story I'm supposed to be participating in, you might need to try to draw me into it. There could be a city 5 miles away and I would never go that direction. I've found a good, safe spot to stay for a while, and that's what I'm planning to do.

Its not a tent. The rods are somehow attached. There is an obvious lock on the side.

Its the size of a softball, and it has a wavy, millimeter high, ridge of metal circling it. Its not ordinary iron or steel.

You skillfully clamber over the rocks in the roof, and walk out to the bashed in nose of the plane, and slide down the 'forehead' to the smashed in window without sliding off the edge and to a broken bone fall. Pushing the thick, cottony, shattered window material in, you push yourself in, and get your feet into a hardened chair.

Inside, its dimmer a bit, but the half-dozen good windows let in light to the fifteen foot square command cabin. There does not seem to be any monitors, although there are a few large buttons and levers in front of each of the five chairs.

Way up under one station along the wall, you find a fat-handled screwdriver with an asterisk tip.

You find a jutting piece of rock about four foot long which evidently plunged through the windown in the crashlanding.

There are a number of words on the controls and some on the walls, but nothing in English, and most in some odd alphabet except for a couple places where the -H thing is repeated from the nodules under the wings.

There are four rectangles with handles that are locked. One to the right, and left, and top, and bottom.

The ship feels fairly sturdy.

As to A1's Ark, I do alliterative titles that have some connection to the game and to the player's name. Consider it a clue. In Mentat's Mafia, Mentat had to deal with a lot of criminal scum.

Its not a tent. The rods are somehow attached. There is an obvious lock on the side.

Why do people lock a box made out of cloth? Pull out the Kabar knife and cut the cloth. Let's see what's inside, shall we?

Its the size of a softball, and it has a wavy, millimeter high, ridge of metal circling it. Its not ordinary iron or steel.

Any indication that it can be opened? Perhaps unscrewed? A millimeter high ridge would indicate a place where it opened. If I can't open it by unscrewing it or pulling it apart, throw it away.

Way up under one station along the wall, you find a fat-handled screwdriver with an asterisk tip.

Leave it. I've got a better screwdriver.

There are four rectangles with handles that are locked. One to the right, and left, and top, and bottom.

First try to find the keys. The pilot probably took those with him, so that's probably a lost cause. If I can't find those, get out the hammer and screwdriver in my pack and try to break these open. Pry them open or smash them.

The "Ark" was the boat Noah used to save the human race. I kind of figured this game was my "Ark". You trying to save me from myself.

NOTES:

When you leave this cabin, drop the fish on the ground. Hopefully that will attract the rats so they won't bother me. It's not like I can't get more fish.

You slice the cloth open. The rods slide and the fabric moves apart, and wheels hidden inside drop down, and you're looking at a cart with hollow plastic wheels that is three feet long, one foot deep, one foot wide. The back panel of the cloth is slashed. There is a rope for pulling it.

The ball clangs against the wall.

It takes about ten minutes to pry up the thin metal panel, and you see a window that is damaged and facing into the rock on which the ship rests. This is the one on the bottom.

You drop the fish,a nd the rats swarm it. It occurs to you that the shelves in the storage rooms were thin metal.

And of course, there was that loader device with spiderwebs draped over it.

However, this place looks remarkably empty.

Ark...Noah...on track...other part is clever but wrong.

Does that slash affect its integrity as a cart? It will still haul stuff, right, or would I have to fix the slash first?

Oh I thought they were drawers.

And no way to cut them into the pieces I need.

And of course, there was that loader device with spiderwebs draped over it.

You described this plane as being huge. I could spend hours in here searching. Do that. Let me know if I can find an aerosol can. That and a lighter, make a flamethrower to burn down the spiderwebs. Of course, if you already know there's nothing in here worth taking, you could just let me know that so I can leave. Just saying.......

Ark...Noah...on track...other part is clever but wrong.

Oh well, I'll find out eventually

After I'm finished searching, head back to the lake. You said the air was burning my lungs, so get as close to the lake as I can without burning my lungs. You also described a forest near the lake if I recall. Once I'm back to a good spot to camp, unroll the sleeping bag, get out one of the waterproof bedsheets and the twine, string it between two trees and make a lean-to to sleep. It's probably getting late, I'm probably get tired. Eat the rest of the lizard for dinner, sack out, and see what's happening tomorrow.

Eric, you work second shift at a job where you don't use an internet-capable computer, don't you? That's my conclusion after observing your posting habits. Am I right?

It will haul stuff, but it has an increased chance to lose stuff out the back if fully loaded.

They are screwed together.

You do find an aerosol box, but its empty. You find forty feet of wire. You see some wall panels that look like they were being removed. They are somewhat spongy, and flexible. It seems to be the same material as the outside, or close to it. Some weird metallo-something.

There is another passageway from the front cabin through some doors to the rest of the ship. But it leads to that pile of rock through the ceiling. You can tell that there are steps down from the side of the rock pile that is too the front, but the stairwell is filled with those refrigderator sized blocks.

You've searched all the ship except for the spider room. The rats seem to regard you now as a potential source of food given and not a prey animal.

Night is coming within an hour or two. You're tired. You've been walking with your hand near your gun for hours. You head back to the lake. The air problem seems to be that you are so high up and the mountain air is thin.

It will haul stuff, but it has an increased chance to lose stuff out the back if fully loaded.

I've got a sewing kit in the backpack. In the morning, sew that back together.

They are screwed together.

Take the screws. I don't have any way to cut the metal into anything I could use, but I could use the screws as arrowheads if they're sharp and pointy. And even if they're not, take them. I'm a blacksmith, I could sharpen the tips. How many screws did I get? I knew I should have put a hacksaw in that pack.....

Night is coming within an hour or two. You're tired. You've been walking with your hand near your gun for hours.

Actually I've been walking with the crossbow in my hand. Arrows are reusable, bullets aren't. Unless otherwise specified, I'm using the crossbow for general-purpose protection. If I need more than one shot, then pull the gun. I'm sleeping with the crossbow near my head, as well as the guns.

Eat the rest of the lizard for dinner, make the lean-to tent I described, strip down and change into just a jumpsuit to sleep. When I wake up, Eat a can or two of that fruit for breakfast, save the cans. The Leatherman tool I have has a can opener. Then sew the cart back together. After that, go into the woods and see if I can find some straight sticks to make crossbow arrows. I'm going to try to teach myself that skill. Use the screws I took as the arrowheads.

As I stated, the first time I shoot one of those laser pistols will be a new use, as I've never actually fired one. So shoot one off into the air. I believe they have 3 settings, the lowest setting is 20 shots per battery. Then try to use a laser pistol to start a campfire. That should also be a new use. (I'm going to new use those as much as I can.) Try to kill an animal for dinner with a laser pistol. That should also be a new use.

That sounds like a full day to me.

Two

I've got a throwing knife in the bag. The reason for that was to turn it into a spear point. The knife is flat, 6 inches long, with 3 or 4 holes in the handle. Split a pole, stick the knife in the split, run 2 screws through the holes, and tie it off with twine. Whilst I'm out getting the wood for the arrows, try to find a long straight pole to make a spear. Teaching myself arrow making and spear making. This is exactly the situation for which I designed the pack. Being lost and alone in the wilderness.

You jab your finger the first time, the second time you decide to go slowly, and get the job done.

You take twenty screws, but there are three hundred more. They have sharp tips.

You find thirty sticks in the woods that are passable, and you see three lines in the peeling bark that extend from seven to four feet high vertically on a pale green peeling bark tree thing.

You fire the laser pistol into the air and it functions, slashing the late evening air. Then, you shoot the campfire, and discover the best way to do it is to fan the laser on its lowest setting. A dead-on burst tends to explode the campfire outward and thus put the fire out.

You nail a hopping thing with a long slender tail and teeth like a shark's mouth even though its only a foot long. It has thick fur, and the meat is fairly nasty. Its rank and gamy.

You work around the campfire on the arrows and the spears. A half-dozen of the arrows are ruined. You fix the spear, and come back to the arrows with new insight. You make five more before your fingers start fumbling.

1@3 Laser Pistol Use
1@1 Make Crude Arrow
1@2 Make Crude Spear

Of course, your arrows need feathers.

1@3 Laser Pistol Use
1@1 Make Crude Arrow
1@2 Make Crude Spear

I had 1@2 on the laser pistol. MJ gave me that because Derek showed me how to use it without firing, so that should be 1@5 laser pistol use. 1@2 plus three new uses. I'm gonna be new using the hell out of those laser pistols.

Of course, your arrows need feathers

Not if they're harpoons. Those were made for the purpose of spearing fish. Take a piece of tape and tape the fishing line from the pocket fisherman to the back of the arrow, load it into the crossbow, and fire at a fish in the water, and reel one in. This way, I don't lose any good arrows. Make sure I have a good grip on the pocket fisherman before I do this, so the fish doesn't pull it out of my hand. Hold that and the crossbow, and drop the crossbow as soon as it impacts. I'd hope that would be a new use on the crossbow. Then, have fish for dinner. The screw tip would go in and not pull out easily.

OOC: 1@5 Laser Pistol Use it is then.

You nick one, and have to struggle greatly, including climbing into the lake with its too smooth sloping sides to get it out without the screw coming loose, or the tape coming loose. But you have your fish.

You sense something and look up at the forest line. A single branch on a bluefruit tree is swinging. Nothing.

The fish is tasty, and indeed does seem to be bass. It makes a fine meal.

You sleep through the night, and wake the next morning with blue dawnlight in your face.

OOC: +1@ crossbow use.

OOC: 1@5 Laser Pistol Use it is then.

That's why firing it was a new use and not a skill learning roll. I want to get proficient with those. What other weapon can a 10 year old child carry besides one that looks like a toy ray gun?

You nick one, and have to struggle greatly, including climbing into the lake with its too smooth sloping sides to get it out without the screw coming loose, or the tape coming loose. But you have your fish.

Set some out on tin foil to dry out and preserve. I changed my mind, I'm probably not staying here much longer. I think I'm gonna (eventually) follow the plane's path back. For all I know, it had just taken off, and the airport is 5 miles away. Have I seen any evidence of other planes flying overhead?

You sense something and look up at the forest line. A single branch on a bluefruit tree is swinging. Nothing.

Probably a raccoon or something. Fruit trees? What kinds? I've been meaning to ask about that. Take the survival book out and see if I can tell if it's edible. The book was picked up in TerraNova, and would have information about how to do this on many different worlds (in that universe) Let's hope the rules still count outside it.

You sleep through the night, and wake the next morning with blue dawnlight in your face.

All of those actions are for today, I suppose. I'm going into the woods with the crossbow in hand (Regular arrows) to check out the fruit trees. If I see anything with fur on it, try to nail it. I want to try to make a holster for one of those laser pistols. Maybe it would look like a toy here too. I've seen a video on how to tan an animal hide. The guy said he had been doing it for 70 some years, so probably a high 3@ example, if you get the instructor's skill. Take that cart and load it up with fruit. See how long it takes to spoil. Eventually I'm gonna load this cart with fruit and fish jerky and follow the plane back the way it came. Not for a little while though.

(Doing Therapy)

No planes flying overhead.

The bluefruit is the size of a golfball. Its alien. Looking further, you see what might be a crab apple tree. Consulting your book, it might well be crab apple or some type of apple.

You shoot another hoppy thing, and a thirty pound bird that tries to charge you.

You try the techniques, but its hard to remember the video. You almost slash open your hand with your knife, and do end up trashing Mr. Hoppy's fur.

No planes flying overhead.

The shotgun is loaded with 00 buckshot. I took the flare out. I'm not going to try to signal any if I see them. For all I know, I'm on the back 40 of this world's White House lawn. If I do see any planes, try to stay hidden. The "tent" is in the woods.

Take a bite. Worst thing that can happen is I end up in the next world.

You shoot another hoppy thing, and a thirty pound bird that tries to charge you.

Bad GE roll I lose arrows. I'm probably using the same arrow over and over until I lose it or it breaks or something.

You try the techniques, but its hard to remember the video. You almost slash open your hand with your knife, and do end up trashing Mr. Hoppy's fur.

Skinning and Tanning are two different skills. I don't have either of them. Skinning it I need to learn. Does that book have anything about that? To tan the hide, you stretch the skin out and let it dry in the sun for a few days. Makes it into leather. Does the book have anything about that? All of the survival books I owned had diagrams and instructions for those kinds of thing. I'll probably get another book next chance I get so we have a reference. It was a 1960s army tech manual on survival. I read it cover to cover. I'll probably get another copy. Available in any army surplus store. This so is much more advanced, so the diagrams and whatnot are probably far superior. Besides, this book not only has information for different environments, also for different worlds. Perfect for a verser.

Oh yeah, and try to hunt with the spear. Throw it next time I go hunting. If I miss, use the crossbow.

And try simple telekinesis on a rock. Just try to lift it a foot in the air.

Try to make knitting needles out of animal bones. Use the twine to knit. I'm not going to keep what I make, unravel it and turn it back into twine. this is just for practice, but that would certainly be worth a new use. (Perhaps two? Bone needles and different knitting string?)

(Doing Therapy)

You bite it. It tastes awful. And then you see the worm wiggling in it. And then you feel the acid burn in your mouth. The interior of the worm starts dripping on to the apple which starts dissolving in turn.

You're still on the first arrow although its showing signs of wear and tear.

You try to skin the bird? The book does describe skinning, and it describes how to defeather a fowl (boiling water and plucking).

The rock floats easily. This is a world with ease of use for psi power it seems.

You try to knit with the bone needles, and have them out when you think you hear something, and so you stand up and look about. There is a small animal with six legs and red fur in a tree looking at you. You reach for a weapon, and slip, and before you can roll you catch yourself on the ground. The bone needle pierces through the palm of your hand quite easily, and out the other side. (No, this is not a new skill use, but a botch. :) )

You later take a stroll through the woods looking for a spear target. You feel something at your back, and look over your shoulder. Standing forty feet away, uphill a bit, is a six-legged, heavy furred creature at least three hundred pounds with a be-toothed snout. Its studying you.

Am I injured? How badly? Is it just something I can rinse my mouth out and I'll be OK? This is a time when infant formula would be good to have. Milk neutralizes acid.

You try to skin the bird? The book does describe skinning, and it describes how to defeather a fowl (boiling water and plucking).

No, Mr. Hoppy. I wasn't certain you understood the difference between skinning and tanning. It's probably a leather working skill package, now that I think about it.

The rock floats easily. This is a world with ease of use for psi power it seems.

Raise and practice force field.

Scream like a woman. Then psionically heal myself. This should be a new use.

This is why it's loaded with 00 buck. That 9mm would be practically useless against something like this. (Or would it?) Spear, crossbow, shotgun, in that order. It might run away, if so, don't use the shotgun. I'm thinking it's probably going to attack if I miss or it survives the spear. The shotgun is only to be used if it comes at me. 00 buckshot at point blank range would probably be base lethal.

There's a discrepancy in the equipment list that MJ put down. He put down "4 days trail food" Actually, that's 12 individual meals, dehydrated. You could ration that for up to 12 days. I just wanted to point that out.

Have you ever had an MRE? It stands for Meal Ready to Eat. They're army rations. The way they're set up is it's a dessert, crackers and peanut butter or jelly or cheese, and an entree meal. It also has coffee, powdered drink mix to make something like Kool-Aid, and hot coca powder. Also, candy and gum. How you're supposed to eat that is dessert and coffee for breakfast, entree and Kool-aid for lunch, crackers and coca for dinner. (Or something similar) with the candy and gum to snack on during the day. They're designed to be rationed like that. Where three might be considered a full day's meals, one is designed to make three meals for an entire day. These are just a more high-tech, dehydrated version of those, I'm imagining. Or not. I just wanted to be clear.

Oh yeah and how am I doing as far as not pissing off the ref?

(Doing Therapy)

How badly injured? It feels like you swallowed a flaming torch. You can see blood dripping from your chin.

Mr. Hoppy's skin is already shredded by your first attempt. It might be useful making twine.

You practise with your force shield.

You heal yourself which is a new use. I'm not sure if I should count the scream as a new use. :) You're Scream Like a Woman at what mark do you think?

You hit the snouted six-legged beast in the shoulder with your spear as it stands there. It charges you. The crossbow bolt sleets off its thick tufty fur. Rather like Mr. Hoppy's fur althoug this thing is about 150X the size of the hoppy thing. You drop the crossbow, and reach for the shotgun as it pelts downhill toward you, a vicious growl stuttering out from its chest, its eyes bulging with insane fury...

You get the shotgun up in time to shoot it before it leaps, and you shoot early, and blast off its left front foot. It stumbles, spiralling, and you leap before it barrels through where you were standing. You come down hard on the ground, the shotgun stayiing in your hand. Its ten feet away, and already back on its feet, and lookiing at you with intent to munch.

Second...

Thanks for the update. And you're doing fine.

How badly injured? It feels like you swallowed a flaming torch. You can see blood dripping from your chin.

Well, it can't be life-threatening, or you would have already versed me out. Just keep rinsing my mouth out. It'll heal.

You heal yourself which is a new use. I'm not sure if I should count the scream as a new use. :) You're Scream Like a Woman at what mark do you think?

So 1@3 psionic healing? Is that was you've got?

Its ten feet away, and already back on its feet, and lookiing at you with intent to munch.

OK buddy, you asked for it. Time to meet Mr. Ruger. Pull out the 9mm pistol, aim for the head, and put this bastard down. It's got a full 15 round clip.

Is spear throwing a skill? That was my skill learning roll if so, what's my skill at that? The other was for making them, not for throwing them.

I got a little bit confused by the blue fruit and the crab apples. I tried to eat blue fruit. I didn't realize the crab apples were different. This time, cut open a crab apple and pour the juice onto a piece of fish and check for the reaction. I'm surprised the book didn't have that......

Third and Last

About the MREs.

Actually, I think it's probably crackers and coffee for breakfast, now that I think about it. Crackers, carbohydrates, get your day started. The last meal of the day is dessert and hot cocoa. You'd be looking forward to that all day. Keep your morale up. That makes more sense. Sorry, it was just stuck. I couldn't understand why that didn't make sense to me.

An MRE would be the only thing we have which would be similar to this, so here goes. This is just my imagining of it. If this is cool with you, then we're good. An MRE has the described items, salt, pepper, sugar and cream for the coffee, a single-serving glass bottle of Tabasco sauce, a book of matches, a plastic spoon and a small supply of toilet paper. Matches might be a little low-tech for TerraNova, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at them. (Matches, toilet paper, empty glass Tabasco sauce bottle, all the makings of an improvised hand grenade. Dangerous blast with Annoying fragments. One of the many uses of an MRE.) Anyway, you're the ref, this is just for ideas. MJ never said anything which would tell this one way or the other. My imagining is that it would be a more high-tech version of this. What do you think?

You rinse out your mouth with lake water, and it eases the pain, but its a constant, and not background pain either. However, you stop bleeding after fifteen minutes.

1@3 P Heal is fine.

1@2 Spear Throwing.

The blue fruit tastes sweet and a bit tangy. Crab apples are green, and according to the survival manual may cause upset stomach if intolerant, or if too many are eaten. You test, and the juice seems fine. Its the worm guts and juice inside the worm in the apple that seriously acidic.

The MRE as you've described it is fine.

You open fire with Mr. Ruger. You wing it, and then fire again but in the stress of the moment, the kick, and the mud on your hands from your dive out of its way, and its slips out of your hands.

The creatue is on you, raging. Its middle legs gouge you on your left arm, and right ribs. Its huge weight is on you.

The creature is on you, raging. Its middle legs gouge you on your left arm, and right ribs. Its huge weight is on you.

I am wearing a puncture-proof coat, it can crush me, but it can't rip flesh.

Psionically lift this bastard off of me. I've never lifted a living thing before, so that might be a new use. I should have known attacking it would be bad. I'm likely to verse out.

So the fruit was OK, it was just the worm that did that to me. If I survive this, I'll keep that in mind.

It bruises you, but no rips.

You try to focus, but between your lack of practise with Heavy TK and the stench of its breath, you don't make it.

It gets a bite in on your shoulder, and hangs on, crushing through the coat. You feel your collarbone start to painfully flex.

Reach back and grab the 357 from behind my back. Give this guy a gut shot. Even if I'm on my back, I could still reach back because I'm laying on the backpack. The gun is off of the ground.

(Doing Therapy)

You're on your back. You reach back for the gun, and it clenches its teeth tighter. You feel your collarbone flex, and you gasp for breath with its thick smell in your face. It scrabbles at you with its clawed feet.

You fire once, and hit it alon the side of its ribs.

It convulses its teeth, and you can feel your bone bend and crackle.

You fire again, straight into its gut. It topples off you, trying to snap at your face, but misses. It staggers back to its feet, you fire into its chest and hit. It stumbles, and bites your wrist, that breaks, and your gun drops.

You can see blood coming out of its mouth, and its moving slowly, but while you're pretty sure its going to die, it may take you with it first.

Second... too clarify, it let go of your wrist now, and its going for your face.

So my right wrist is broken, do I have enough space and time to raise a psionic force field? Would actually using it to defend against something be a new use? If I can raise the shield, get the gun with my left and and try to finish this thing. Thank God the psionic bias is high.

(Doing Therapy)

You try to raise the shield. Too much pain. You grab for your gun with your left hand and the broken collarbone. You can't force your hand to close, it hurts too much the first time. It bites for your face, and comes a whisker from taking your nose off. You try again. Nothing. Overriding the pain, you shot it somewhere, you're not sure. It yelps. It bites you on the head. Desperately, you raise the shield.

You're sitting swaying, he's standing swaying, you're both in bad shape and exhausted. Think Rocky at the end of one of his movies.

Question...can you shoot through the shield?

Question...can you shoot through the shield?

I asked MJ the same thing. Unfortunately no, it works both ways.

From my sheet.

1@2 Unlimited Damage Repair M+2@7 pray "God, heal (subject, possibly self) injuries, that (subject) might (do what needs to be done)" for five minutes +3SM

The shield is just to keep him at bay whilst I do this. Maybe I'll get lucky and he'll run into the shield and finish himself off whilst I'm doing this. Maybe he'll just give it up and die, who knows? What needs to be done is kill this sack of meat so I can skin him and make jerky. I won't have to hunt for a week.

A shotgun, 9mm, 357 magnum, a crossbow and a spear, and this thing STILL almost got me!!!!!!!! I knew I wasn't carrying enough guns......
