I'm in desire of a blunt instrument weapon. I've got a hammer in the pack, I've got 2@1 hammer skills as part of my blacksmithing. Do I have 1@10 "Use hammer as blunt instrument weapon"? A hammer would be innocuous enough, and as deadly as a handgun in the hands of a skilled user. I couldn't use a knife in a fight, (Concept freaks me out) a blunt instrument on the other hand.... Using a hammer is a tech skill, and I've still got my tech skills. Now I see why you do it like that.
Would it have to be a blacksmithing hammer? The hammer I've got is a claw hammer and nails hammer. A blacksmithing hammer would be unquestionably heavier. Probably closer to a 3 pound sledgehammer. I figured I'd tie a rock to this one or something if I had to use it for blacksmithing.

You start praying.
The snout beast tries to bite your shield. Your shield nearly collapses.
Then it stares at you for a long minute confused. And then suddenly it bashes its weight into the shield. The shield goes down.
Two minutes have passed.
It would need to be a blacksmithing hammer, I think. And I doubt that you get that skill. I'd say, Example of Blacksmithing definitely, but not Use as Weapon.
Keep praying. Don't move a muscle. Hopefully this idiot won't notice the shield is down. If he moves, I'm kinda screwed.....

It stares at you for perhaps a minute, swaying. Then it attacks, biting your face.

Not really. You need a minute between shield failure to raise it again. You said about a minute. If it waited more than a minute, then I would have had time to raise the shield again. It would be at most one or two dice rolls to see if I succeeded, but if you really want to verse me out, that's OK too. I would kind of like to stay here, since I really didn't get to see much of it.

No joy. You don't even get a flicker. But then you get a bite.
Well start a new thread my friend.
