*Difficult Flexibility check you 11, stage 5 I believe, Cass 27 fail*
*You see the world as you are coming in, you see a quaint little village, thatched roofs, wearing simple flax clothing, you see a windmill in the distance, you land in a barn, Cass is next to you, not ready to hit the ground running, you see a plain woman, churning butter, she is looking at both of you in disbelief*
I will bow to her with a flourish and smile. "Arziay Miyamoto, at your service."
I'll hesitate a moment, then inquire, "What can I do for you?"
*she SCREAMS BLOODYMURDER and runs out of the barn still screaming like the Devil just appeared in front of her, Cass comes to*
"That sucked"
"You don't know the half of it. I think a woman may have just decided we're demonspawn. She was churning butter here, so I'm presuming technology won't work so well here. I've got my bow, though."
*Cass grins*
"I have my sword and that's about it for low tech, but I am glad I got it now."
*She caresses it*
I'll go ahead and get out my lovely little knives from my things, as well as my katana that Jhiaxus gave me in the first world, and put them on.
Check to see if the stealth function on my chinese stealth suit works; if not, does it still have the same cover value?
*80, No the Chinese Stealth Armor is not Stealthed, Cass tries hers ((85)), hers is not working either, she sighs and puts on a set of leather armor that helps her mend with the shadows*
*You hear a commotion in the main house*
The answer, I suppose, then, is that the cover value is in fact reduced?
In that case I'll be switching to the clothes I had made, the trenchcoat, hat, etc.
"We wait here, I say, and claim the woman is a witch and she summoned us and we have no desire to be here."
*Cass is not so sure*
"Um do you think that is a good idea? We do have magic, and technology, they will believe her, not us."
"If we say the technology is hers, they might. Of course, if she summoned us, what would that make us?
"We aren't going to have much choice at this rate, though. There isn't enough time to hide and hide all our stuff. We are technically supernatural beings; we could try to go for angels rather than demons."
*She nods*
"I will follow your lead."
*You hear more than four people heading your way, any plans?*
Yes, but none that I can prepare for.
Just wait for the time being.
*You see 4 men, in puritan clothes, two have pitchforks, two have flintlock muskets, two women are with them, with kitchen knives.*
*The man who is clearly the leader, in his 40's salt and pepper hair, big build*
"Stay put foul demon, these pitchforks are pure iron."
"Fear not," I tell them. "We are not demonic in nature, but human, as you. We have no fear of your iron weapons, and if you do not allow fear to coax your actions, you will have nothing to fear from us."
I see the flintlock pistols, and it immediately occurs to me that my rifle should work. Still pretty low tech, but not as low as I'd feared.
*Some good rolling, 20 persuasion, good, 24 willpower not good*
*They lower their weapons slightly*
*Not pistols, rifles*
"So how can you explain appearing out of thin air in front of Isabelle?"
Thinking fast, I come up with a solution.
"My wife and I," I begin, motioning to her, "are demon slayers. We were in a fierce battle not ten minutes ago, but the beast, in failing health, banished us from his presence to here just before I could strike the fatal blow."
*10 GE roll, getting lucky today*
*They put their weapons away*
"That makes perfect sense, demon activity has been on the rise as of late. I am Lemond, sorry for the rudeness, but you can never be too careful in these times."
"No need to apologize; our appearances can be quite off-putting, even were we not to appear suddenly.
"I am Arziay Miyamoto, and this is my wife." I allow her to introduce herself.
"Where exactly are we, if I may ask?"
*Cass smiles and bows her head a little*
"I am Cassandry Miyamoto, Cass for short, gooed to meet you."
*He nods*
"Well you are in Salem, Mass, one of the 15 colonies in the Saxon Federation."
Ah, Salem, right in the time in the heart of the witch hunts.
"Salem? Good thing I'm here, then. You folks could use a good slayer about, I'd wager."
*He nods* "That's why we have the most licenced hunters in the world here, with the gateway to hell, bringing in all sorts of things, demon, undead, we'd be crazy not to."
*He gets the others to calm down*
"Once you show us your licences, we can get you setup in a place and you two can start your work."
I say, "Of course," and reach confidently into my pocket, then, not finding what I'm looking for so appearing concerned, say to Cass, "Honey, have you seen my wallet?"
*Cass shrugs, and checks for her wallet that she never had*
"I think they were taken for us when we were captured, husband."
*They look worried, and unconvinced*
*The leader looks you both up and down*
"Time to visit the historical records then."
"Yes, let's."
As if it would be impossible for a demon to send us to an alternate dimension, but I'll act like that's not what happened until it's obvious that it did.
*He takes you through the dirt streets, to what looks like a large building with a bell at the top, it is the church, and he walks you through the isles and then down a set of stairs behind a tapestry, and you see wooded shelves with piles and piles of scrolls and books, and he starts walking though the maze. This area is much larger than the church, and opens a huge book, 3 feet by 2 feet, with a spine 8 inches thick, and he starts paging through it.*
"How do you spell your last name?"
"Well, the nearest translation is M I Y A M O T O."
I'm not expecting to show up in the database, so if we don't, I say, "Blasted fiend! He must have sent us to an alternate dimension, or else erased all history of our existence!"
((GE Roll 12))
*He looks through five sections and begins to think your story is BS, and then turns to one last section, and nods.*
"You are lucky we are good on paperwork, and merge books from all over the world. Your from Japan, your family has a long line of Demon Hunters in them. With that settled, let's get you some licences."
Do not look relieved, just as if that were expected, and nod in response.
*He heads back to another part of the room, and takes your right thumbs, puts it in a substance and then places it on a card, if you allow him to that is, and then writes in your information*
"I think you two are all set now."
"Looks good to me." I act as if it's routine, though I have considered the possibility that this is all a test and there aren't really any licenses.
"If that's all, then we'll be on our way. We should get back on the trail." I look at Cass meaningfully.
*Cass nods*
"We should be going, you never know when there is a demon around."
*When you two are alone*
"So what are we going to do?"
"We're gonna hightail it out of Salem and go out west. Maybe we can get in with the native americans; they're not as crazy about demons.
"Maybe we should find some horses, wait til nightfall, steal them, and ride on out of here."
"We're gonna hightail it out of Salem and go out west. Maybe we can get in with the native americans; they're not as crazy about demons.
"Maybe we should find some horses, wait til nightfall, steal them, and ride on out of here."
*She looks at you*
"Really, going to steal horses from these people? I'd rather walk and take some in the wild or from someone or something attacking us. They don't look like they have much, stealing a horse is like stealing a car from them, and that's not right."
*She pauses*
"I'm good with going west, but going west would take us into Canada correct?"
"You're right, it is like stealing a car, but...
"Alright. We'll leave on foot, and if we find horses we find them; if not, we don't. I've barely ridden in my life anyway, and they're just another thing to worry about feeding.
"Yeah, hitting Canada probably wouldn't be good. So, southwest it is."
*She nods and grabs her stuff*
"I am not a fan of Canada either, too many Canadians there."
*You head off, past some farmland, and some forests, you are walking for hours, and in deep forest, and no road or town to goto for resting, got any plans?*
Sure, we'll keep an eye out for wild deer, and I'll bring one down with my trusty bow and arrow.
We'll settle for wild rabbit, squirrel, or maybe fowl.
((GE roll 11))
*You see a buck in the woods, you have stopped before he has caught the scent, and does not know you are there, so got any plans, going to take a shot from here?*
Sure, as long as I feel like he's in range, I'll quietly ready my bow and take my shot.
((93))
*You miss the deer, and it takes off running, you can take another shot but it will have -50cv through the trees.*
